While reading THE RESCUE I became emotionally invested in all of the characters. They are all flawed, real and lovable! THE RESCUE is the first book in the All Roads Lead to Texas series. Once I started reading, I was instantly hooked. I devoured every page and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. This suspenseful, historical fiction story is filled with jealousy, temptation, and lies, but also love, family, and second chances.

I quickly flew through THE RESCUE and when I finished

Promised by her father to marry a much older and in my opinion truly evil man who held an unpayable debt over her father’s head, Rosalind Standford had no hope for her life. The man she has loved her entire life has returned to Boston but Rosalind must keep her circumstances secret from him at all costs and pretend she no longer cares for him.

The Rescue held my attention from its beginning until the end. Trent Easton was a true hero in every sense and quickly caught on to the danger that threate

With settings in Boston, Texas, and the train ride in between, a vile villain, a friends-to-more second chance romance, and a darling little girl, Tanya Eavenson makes a big splash with the All Roads Lead to Texas series debut.

There’s a little something for every reader in this historical read: romance, danger, suspense, cowboys, and a happy ending. But what really stood out for me in this book was the theme that even when God doesn’t answer our prayers or we feel completely alone in the world,

"The way to have faith is to step out, forgetting about your fears and doubts, and to trust God that whatever happens, He will be there."

Such a soul-searching, emotional, faith-laden historical romance from Tanya Eavenson! The setting is in the late 1880s between Boston and Graham, Texas as Rosalind finds herself trapped in a sacrifice for her family and Trenton feels helpless to free her from this trap. The two grew up together in Boston and fell in love but Trenton's family moves to Texas to b

Christian historical fiction/romance is one of my favorite genres, and this was the first book I have read which was written by Author Tanya Eavenson.

One of my favorite things about this well-written story was that the main character, Rosalind Standford, was realistic, likeable, loyal, kind, and compassionate. She was a loving person to her friends and family. She went well beyond normal circumstances to reach out to those in need, and I greatly admire this quality in people.

Author Tanya Eavenson is a new-to-me author, and now that I’ve been introduced to her writing, The Rescue, the first in the All Roads Lead to Texas series, has become a new favorite. With well-written storylines and great character development, readers are sure to enjoy The Rescue. I know I did.

Following the devastating death of her beloved mother, Rosalind Standford finds herself in a terrible predicament. Her father, unbeknownst to anyone, was deeply in debt to a local banker, for gambling lo

My Thoughts on The Rescue:
So good. I loved this one. It reads quickly and the characters are very compelling. I had to know what would happen next and how it would end up. Definitely one of those books that I can’t put down and will stay up way too late to read. Which might have happened. But I’m not sorry, just in need of about a pot of coffee and bribery to get my children to take naps today.

The author has a great writing style that just captures you and weaves the story into your being so you

At first, I didn’t think I would like The Rescue by Tanya Eavenson. Near the beginning, the characters’ conversations sometimes felt unnatural and I wished certain scenes had been fleshed out more. I wanted to linger in the moment to read more about what the characters were thinking and feeling, but it moved on quickly.

However... it turned out that I loved reading The Rescue by Tanya Eavenson! There’s danger, romance, and a good storyline. With ease, the novel held my attention. While I found th

The Rescue was a great introduction to what looks to be a compelling series. I so enjoyed this heartfelt story! Rosalind and Trent were such likable characters and my heart ached for the pain that Rosalind was suffering, both emotional and physical.

The Rescue was aptly titled! I loved the way Trent rescued Rosalind and it was interesting to watch as it took Rosalind quite a long time to realize that God was rescuing her all along, as well, even when she didn’t realize it.

There was so much heart

My Review of The Rescue by Tanya Eavenson:

I have been waiting to read this book since I heard about it a few months ago. And when I saw that it was on tour with JustReads tours I was so excited, this is a wonderfully beautiful story of two people who were in love and were separated.
I enjoyed the romance and especially the faith of the characters, the writing style was perfect and I felt like I was there with the characters every step of the way.

Forgiveness was a big part of this book and I loved

This sweet, historical romance gets five stars for being set in Texas if nothing else. :-) Fortunately, there's a lot more to it than just a great setting. Trent is a fantastic hero, unconditionally, eternally faithful. Rosalind is a good blend of lady in distress and spunky courage. And the message of being rescued by God is timeless. We can never be reminded enough of how He reaches out, how He cares for His sheep above all else. Great start to a series!

I’ll admit it… I’m not always an historical romance fan. It is hard for me to find historical books that keep my attention unless written with action, adventure and mystery. The Rescue by Tonya Eavenson met all those expectations and more. The book opens with Rosalind Standford at age 16, realizing her best friend and crush is moving from Boston to Texas. On the same night her mother becomes extremely sick and her father gives his blessing of betrothal to the awful Glover, who is her own f

THE RESCUE is a story about loss, abuse, danger, family, love and faith. Set partly in historic Boston and then Texas as the characters try to find happiness. Christian readers will like these characters, especially sweet Lilly, and the inspirational message woven throughout, but also may find some issues with the story.

I really liked the beginning of this story as the main characters were introduced. I then enjoyed seeing Trent working the ranch in Texas a little while later. I would d

A beautiful story of loss, forgiveness, faith, prayers, redemption and second chance.

Rosalind, a beautiful character had to learn through series of tragedies that God is the same no matter what she was going through. She was faced with a lot of challenges which left her thinking God doesn't love her and he doesn't answer her prayers, but the scriptures that says " No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what yo

Oh, what a way to kick off the new All Roads Lead To Texas series. After finishing The Rescue, I cannot wait to read even more!

To be honest, this wasn't one that captured me from the start. In fact, it took me a bit to get into it at the beginning. There was a time jump between the first few chapters and I think for me that threw me off and I had to get that timeline straight before I could really appreciate the story more. I see why it was written in this way--- we needed to have that history

This heart-pounding tale of romance and intrigue sweeps us back to 1800s Boston and into the lives of childhood friends Rosalind Standford and Trenton ‘Trent’ Easton. The two seemed destined to be together until life intervenes with a string of cruel plot twists – among them, Rosalind’s forced engagement to an evil, violent older man.

I appreciate how Ms. Eavenson shuns the overt sensuality of many romance novels. Instead she weaves a God-honoring tale of how Trent is willing to do whatever is ne

It’s 1886, and young Boston socialite Rosalind is forced into a three year courtship to a man many years older, by her father… who has essentially sold her to cover his debts. Her future husband is a piece of work, but everyone’s too scared of him to say anything. Meanwhile, her best friend has suddenly upped and moved to Texas with his famil

The Rescue is a great afternoon read. The plot is well-developed with enough twists and turns to keep the reader reading. I love the concept of relying on God which Tanya Eavenson brings out over and over in the story. Roselind has every earthly reason to not trust God - after all He took her mother from her, He didn’t keep her father from selling her to pay off his gambling debts, and He doesn’t appear to be doing anything to keep her from marrying Glover, who has hurt her and threatened her fa ...more

Rosalind and Trent are longtime friends in love and want to get married one day. But circumstances changes everything when Rosalind’s mom falls ill and passes away. With no one to care for her except her father, her future is in a dangerous situation because of poor choices her father has made. What will happen to poor Rosalind?

I really understand why Rosalind questions God in her situation. She loves Trent, and he would be good to her, so why is she having to marry a ma

Tanya is a new to me author but I found the description intriguing so I scooped it up. It exceeded my expectations by far. Rosalind's life shatters quickly in the beginning of the story, making her wonder where God is and why bad things keep happening to her. We then jump two years and things have gone from bad to worse.

I relate to Rosalind in that sometimes I question where God is as well, but the ways Tanya shows he is working unbeknownst to Rosalind are unique, reminding me too that He works

This intriguing story is full of romance, suspense, danger, cowboys, and a happily ever after. Although the story in this novel had a great premises, but it just didn’t quite live up to it. Throughout the entire novel it is pretty straight forward and readers will easily be able to guess what will happen next. The story is also a little bit slow, dragging out and repeating similar situations over and over. After readers get past this and if they stick with it, it is still a fun sweet read about ...more

So much to love about this. The cover is breath-taking. The characters are well written. Rosalind and Trent are life long friends - and it is a life changing event when Trent moves away. When Rosalind's mother dies, her future becomes the choice of her father..... and he promises her to Glover. Glover threatens harm to her and her family if the marriage does not go through....

This was one of those times I did not want to see "The End" - the story was that good. From the get-go, I furiously turned the pages to see what came next. It kept me reading most of the day, only stopping when something else needed my attention, and late into the night until sleep made me stop to put the book down! Rosalind and Trent's story is suspenseful, romantic and full of wonderful (and some evil) characters. The author weaves hope in God, and His love and care for us, seamlessly into the ...more

There is more to this story than just a pretty cover! I enjoyed that there is mystery in this romance, with people carrying their secrets and not having the chance to be honest with one another. When Rosalind and Trent are thrown together once again, secrets begin to unravel. I enjoyed the characters and that there is plenty going on with the story! I also like the journey that Rosalind and Trent go on, and the lessons on forgiveness they learn along the way. This is a delightful story!

I really enjoyed reading The Rescue. This is the first book I read by Tanya Eavenson and I was not disappointed. The story line was great and the characters well developed and likable. I was wondering how the conflict would be resolved, and the author did a great job of that without being predictable. This was a clean book with no foul language. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author!

Beautiful story! “It gives us a glimpse of how the Lord works behind-the-scenes in Rosalind and Trent's behalf, directing their paths. In many ways, our Lord does the same for us, even when we can't see Him move or act when we pray.”

“The way to have faith is to step out, forgetting about your fears and doubts, and to trust God that whatever happens, He will be there.”

Oh my gosh what an absolutely riveting story. I was caught up in Rosalind's story right from the start. At a party at her best friend Trenton's home she is shocked to find out his family is moving the very next day to Texas. She can't believe Trent never told her. On the way home her mother starts coughing up blood. This poor girl not only loses her mother but on the very same night she finds out her father has promised her to a man she is scared to death of. She is feeling so totally lost she h ...more
