I feel in love with Cecy Robson’s Weird Girls series and deiced to give her new Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance a try. I enjoyed the book, but I had trouble staying interested. Not sure if it’s just first book syndrome, but I’d read a few chapters, then put the book down for a few days, then pick it back up. Their where some areas that captured me and others no so much. I wasn’t as engrossed in this novel as I have been with her pr ...more
I love a good paranormal, urban fantasy book and I have a particular love for all things Fae at the moment, so this book seemed like the perfect fit for me. And while it was interesting and certain parts were really enjoyable, there were some things that felt lacking.
"Even Death needs love."
THE THINGS I LIKED
Olivia: The slightly clumsy, yet lovable and vivacious main character is sort of a cliché. But sometimes, a character with those traits ...more
I normally shy away from books about the fae, with a few exceptions because most of them are so overdone and the same old same old but knowing what Robson can do with the mundane and same old same old, had me picking th ...more

Unearthed: A Death Seeker Novel has a premise where Fae creatures have come to earth to escape the Death that stalks their land and devours their souls so they can never rest. It’s a cool premise to be sure and that was my draw in as I usually enjoy stories with Fae ties and I thought the added touch of death into the story could work rea ...more
The story was loads of fun. The interactions with the characters were both fun and solemn. Every moment felt real. I found myself invested in the lives of the characters. I feared for them in the face of danger and cheered them on in the heat of ...more

I was really curious to discover Cecy Robson’s new series and even more knowing that this time it featured faes and Death. How can we resist it?
So we discover Olivia, a pixie, who works in a law firm run by other companies. But the faes are on earth not by their own will, but more to try to survive the creatures that hunt them all. Olivia has already faced them several times and miraculously escaped alive, yet it seems that this time is too much for her. This is how her wo ...more
What Did I Like About It?
Cecy Robson is a new-to-me author but found this book engaging and easy to read. I liked Ms Robson’s writing style; the prose she used, the balance of dialogue to narrative, the pace of her plot and the characters that she created. I enjoy stories more when they are popu ...more
Unearthed was an excellent and original read. There are fay. There are horrible death hounds. And there is Death (yeah, he's a real character!)
Olivia had to flee faerie when she was small, but the king of the death hounds had fled as well. Little by little, most of Olivia's family were taken by the hounds, and she was left alone. Living with her best friend Dahlia, and working as a parale ...more

Olivia Finn is not human. She’s one of the Fae, a pixie living in Earth’s realm ever since Death destroyed her world. She works for a law firm where several other Fae work. They wear talismans to hide from humans and Death. But then Death comes to the firm and everything changes. Word gets out that she’s immune to Death and it’s up to her friends and the King of the Dead to keep her alive long enough to destroy the Fae’s worst enemy, Catha ...more
This book started with a strong start and I was pulled into the story quickly. I really thought this would be at least a four stars. Somehow, it went down after a while. I'd say it was probably after we knew the main character was (view spoiler)["Life" (hide spoiler)]. I felt like this was made just to make the character special but it wasn't really explained except that (view spoiler)[Death was going to come for her. (hid ...more

On the one hand, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept me hooked page after page and left me wanting more of Olivia and Ryker. I'm excited by the story and desperately looking forward to more! Which means pretty much five stars for me.
However, there was something about the way the story was executed that I found jarring and difficult. Time moved strangely, stuff would happen and I'd be confused and thinking I must've misse ...more

When it comes to office drama Unearthed fits the bill with secret magical beings and a fae pixie named Olivia, who becomes the target of the Cù-Sìth.
The Cù-Sìth are Celtic demon dogs who destroyed the homeland of the Fae, and after killing Olivia's entire family, the survivors were forced to hide on Earth.

I've read my share of faerie folk books: from Merry Gentry to Wicked Lovely to Mercedes Thompson and everything in between. I've seen it all and I love it all. Ms. Robson's new twist is unique and so intriguing. I enjoyed Googling my heart out looking up all the Celtic mythology she borrowed from (I do that when I read; I'm a sponge for knowledge).
