Cognitive disorders take a toll on everyone—the person living with the condition, their family, friends, caregivers, and the communities they live in. Most of the public's interest has been in the medical research area for this devastating disease, and advice is desperately needed from those who have created innovative solutions with their own first-hand experience.

I choose to read this book because I was very curious, as I feel like I don't know much about this disease, that only increases in the number of patients each year. No cure and unknown are very scary.
It is a very informative book filled with interviews of people from all aspects of care for dementia patients. Usually, nurses and doctors choose to do it because they have someone in their family who has dementia. I love the interview with Brian LeBlanc, a national public speaker with Alzheimer's ...more

The interview transcript style was an interesting choice. It amplified the diversity of perspectives; covering facilities and organizations across numerous countries. It allowed the experts to convey their experiences and expertise directly. I have no medical background and had to look up a few terms. Good for a general audience but not "dumbed down" either.

As recently being a caregiver of my mom with dementia. I find this topic fascinating as we have to do better as a society to our elderly. They didn’t ask for this so maintaining dignity is of outmost importance.
I love reading different point of views and ‘ways’.

I adored this book, and I'm not saying it lightly.
I recently got my degree as a psychogerontologist, and my internship was with patients with AD (Alzheimer's Disease), so I'm not kidding when I say it would have been a great resource when preparing and dealing with some situations I had.
