This is a Contemporary/women's fiction that is a take on Thelma and Louise. I love the characters Hadley and Grace. They both have their own problems they are running from, but I feel the characters and their story is well written. I really love the Skipper character, and his character just touched my heart so much. I feel each character came to life which made this book so much fun to read. The storyline had you ...more
The newspaper headline read: “Real Life Thelma and Louise Blaze through Salt Lake City!
The two women and their kids fled in a Chevy Truck with California plates. These women might not be Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis, and there might not be a 66 Thunderbird or an Oscar nomination, but there is no doubt of the similarity in these women’s story with the fictional Thelma and Louise!”
Frank was a terrible boss.
And, and even worse husband.
But, he had money, and that is what causes ...more

I haven't watched Thelma & Louise yet, but I wish this book is converted into a movie. I absolutely loved this book. Right from the start, I was hooked on to it. You just cannot take your eyes from even a single sentence. The whole environment, the dialogues, the fluency in the language makes it seem so real as if you are a part of their journey. The end leaves you surprised.
Humour, sadness, anger, you name the emotions, a ...more

"In the tradition of Thelma and Louise." - Yes please!
Suzanne Redfearn made me fall in love with this book and the main characters. Hadley and Grace portrays two women running from the men they're married to...ripped apart by abuse and addiction. The book depicts a touching story filled with strong themes of forgiveness, love, and betrayal but also two women who become friends during a crisis in their lives. The story revolves around the title characters who are seeking new liv ...more
I honestly went into this book with no expectations, and I have to say what draw me primarily to the story was that it involved children. I probably wouldn't have decided to read it if it was just a book about two women running away and hiding from law enforcement. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book. It was a very engaging, unpredictable, and emotional story. The main characters are Hadley and Grace. Hadley is a t ...more
Hadley & Grace, an unlikely duo, with a tag-along family consisting of a baby, an autistic grade-schooler, and a sullen teenager, cross the country in a Trains, Planes, and Automobiles-like adventure, on the run from the FBI, Hadley’s criminal husband Frank, and other local authorities.
The book kept my attention enough to finish it, yet I wasn’t “wow”-ed by the story. One thing I did enjoy, however, to see the personal growth of the characters throughout the ...more
Hadley & Grace is a fast-paced, heart-pounding, thrilling novel that takes you into the life of an abused housewife and a disgruntled employee as coincidence and an unfortunate accident causes them to embark together on a wild ride of misfortune, chaos, and danger to escape their everyday lives.
The prose is eloquent and intense. The characters are multilayered, distressed, and impulsive. And the plot, reminiscent of the famous Ridley Scott film, Thelma ...more
I went into Hadley & Grace thinking it couldn't be as good as In An Instant. I mean Thelma & Louise is a movie from the 90s, the story about two renegade ladies running lose in the USA has been done and told and frankly the concept is a bit outdated.
Luckily, Redfearn realised this and changed Hadley & Grace enough to make it current. Apart from that, she makes it so that the story takes a hold ...more
I read her book In An Instant earlier this year as part of Amazon’s first reads program. I absolutely loved it so of course I was very excited to read this one.
Hadley & Grace is a modern retelling of Thelma & Louise. I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched that movie though I will be now.
This book was fast paced and it kept me on my toes the whole time. It was an exciting Book and unlike anything out there right now. Two women ...more
Hadley and Grace meet simply by coincidence, to steal Frank's (Hadley's abusive husband and Grace's sketchy boss) money. One disaster leads to another and they're on the run. The FBI are either incompetent or enamored with the women (hence the suspension of disbelief).
Both women have completely different strengths that compliment each ...more

There is no doubt that there are no chance meetings in life and nothing is ever a coincidence!

Told in alternating voices of Hadley and Grace with the occasional

While this novel includes a bit of that as well, it’s more about the bonds forged among two women and their families as they begin a journey “on the run” as they enter into some unforeseen circumstances.
