Savage Duet #2

Absolution

Rate this book
Part 2 in the Savage duet.

An obsessed hitman. A woman on the run.

Finding Kerry was more complicated than Christian ever imagined. Disaster loomed around every corner, pulling his violent nature to the surface. True change has to come from within, and breaking old habits is hard when you’re used to taking everything, and everyone by force.

Kidnapping. Murder. Betrayal.

Her luck had run out and this time there was no escape. He had found her. He would claim her. Resisting the enigmatic and dangerous Christian Russo would be Kerry’s hardest trial. Resisting her own feelings might prove impossible.

The Savage duet (Redemption and Absolution) needs to be read in order. It can be read as a standalone but the experience will be so much more exciting if you have read the previous books in the Russo Saga, it also contains a few small spoilers for Shame.

Publisher’s Note: This book is a dark romance featuring suspense, danger, adult themes, harsh elements, adult language, and sensual scenes. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

Can you believe that Redemption was only the devastating foundation for Absolution?
That things could still get even worse?
You’d think that Kerry and Christian have suffered enough, right?

It seems Nicolina Martin thought differently…..taking my broken heart and stomping on it by painting the worst scenario ever!
Leaving me without any hope of the slightest chance of a happy after, she then slowly, very slowly, started to build their lives back up, giving them a tiny bit of “normal”….

And then had it crushed, yet again,by not only that bastard Salvatore, but by her ex,too! Why???? Ok,Salvatore solved the problems caused by her ex,but at the same time,he was responsible for só much of the bad things that had happened….and was the disappearance of her bestie Chloe his doing, too??

In the end,my poor heart finally got what it needed,so very much….
Kerry managed to put their past and her trauma behind her,and saw the man Christian had become.
The man that would die for her and their little Cece. The man that loved her more than life itself. And finally she could admit to herself that he meant the world to her, that the only time she felt safe, was when she was with him.
That he was the one she needed more than her next breath.

All i need now,is for someone to put that arrogant bastard Luciano Salvatore in his place….
Kerry slapping him in his face was a good start, but he still needs to realize that you don’t mess with loved ones without consequences!!

Wow, I was worried the second book wouldn't live up to the brilliance of book 1. Well it most certainly did, and then some.

You can't read this without having first read Redemption (Savage Duet #1). This review probably contains spoilers for that book.

Oh Christian Russo, you made my heart ache but you also totally redeemed yourself. Kerry may have taken a long, long time to make her choices but that so worked for me. First of all she's considering getting VERY involved with a man who not only lied to her, but also tried to kill her. That right there is gonna make it hard to learn to ever trust him again. Secondly there's all the family/mafia baggage that comes along with him, not to mention that at one time he was one of their "very worst" - gulp.

I loved his patience and determination, and his interactions with Cece will make you melt. Sometimes he was an overbearing, overstepping, arrogant SOB but always, always, his two women came first. The growth BOTH main characters undergo felt so natural, as did Kerry's eventual decision regarding if she could allow Christian back into her heart.

It took me a couple of days to read the book, it's not that it isn't gripping because believe me it very much is. However it was just so emotionally charged, so soul wrenching and heart breaking that I had to allow myself some recovery breaks in between devouring each finely crafted emotion, every twist and hiccup of the plot. It's a story of shuffling steps forward, stumbles back and one pretty nasty drop down a ravine.

There is just so much in this book, so much story, so much action and adventure, so much loss and sorrow, so much hope. There was also what felt like a teaser for a future story involving one of Kerry's friends. I'm really hoping we find out more of that story!

This duet has firmly placed itself as one of my top reads of the year and put this author firmly on my 'must read' list.

The first part of Kerry and Christian's story broke me in terrible and horrible ways. What happened to Kerry made me sob and sob and full on ugly cry. But that's ok, Nicolina Martin managed to put me back together with Absolution. I'm not going to stay that the two books are completely opposite to each other, because they really aren't, but there is a definite change of mood in between the two, in a good way.

This one started out in a pretty dark place, which makes sense, considering where the last one ended up, and it's pretty scary and dramatic at times.

I have to admit, I really loved getting to see more of Kerry and Christian. Kerry is never going to be the person who she was at the beginning of the first book, she's had too many terrible things happen to her, but I like the person she has grown into. Of course, she had some seriously terrible growing pains to get there.

I really felt sorry for Christian through a lot of this, because he is so tormented and tortured. I really like him, the author managed to seriously redeem him in my eyes. I like where he ended up though, especially when it came to Kerry.

This book was everything that I didn't even know I needed.

As a reader, I couldn't have asked for a better ending to this duet. I loved Kerry and Christian something fierce. This wasn't a smooth ride but how can it be with this family. I loved how patient Christian was in covering his past mistakes.i appreciated the author for not rushing the forgiveness from Kerr's standpoint.

This series keeps getting better. The chemistry, the angst, the suspense. It was all perfectly balanced. I found myself cheering for them to get their crap together because I knew they were destined for each other.

I'm really needing Salvatore's story ASAP. The author says it's happening which makes me so very happy.so many other chapters need stories too. Highly recommend this duet and the whole series.

There is a lot going on in this book. And for my personal preferences, I kind of think it goes on for longer than it really needed to. Kerry continues to be obnoxiously stubborn. I was starting to actively dislike her character for that trait not very far into the book. I had even gotten to the point where I was beginning to think Christian was a bit of a milquetoast in the face of Kerry’s unrelenting stubbornness. I think if part 3 had been blended into the spaces between the events that take place earlier in the book this would have been an even better read. And that’s saying something because, for the most part, I quite enjoyed this story. I guess, I was just ready for a resolution before the characters were.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.

I was looking forward to reading more of the Russo saga and this book certainly not only lived up to expectations but exceeded them. I really enjoyed reading more about dark, dangerous assassin Christian and the feisty, stubborn tigress Kerry. I loved the style of writing, merging in lines from what had happened earlier with what was happening as the story progressed. The suspense kept me enthralled and I literally couldn’t put this book down. It was great to catch up with previous characters especially Salvatore and Carmen. I am hooked on this series and can’t wait to read the next instalment from this talented author.
It’s a very well deserved five stars from me

A spell-binding conclusion to Christian and Kerry's story. So much angst, heartache and emotions. Is it possible to overcome deep hurt, lies, and betrayal? How do two people find love out of so much hurt? This story plays with your emotions because you want them to be together but hate all that befalls them. My take from this series is one word: forgiveness! A powerful word for it represents so much! I highly recommend this series!

Excellent follow-up and conclusion to the Savage Duet. It's hard to imagine how these two could have found happiness after everything that happened in Redemption, but Nicolina made it work. So glad for them to get their forever.

Christian Russo and Kerry Jackson's story is a duet (Redemption: Part One in the Savage Duet and Absolution: Part Two in the Savage Duet).... and I loved everything about their story! 😍
Again, just like the previous books, such a creative, captivating, heart wrenching and heart warming story...... lots of action, danger, violence, suspense, twists & turns.... and so unlike and 'different' than any other mafia story I've ever read. Usually I'm not such a fan of unintended pregnancies and stories where children play a big role, but this duet was absolutely AMAZING!!
No other option than 5 big, fat, bright shining stars!!!

This conclusion of the Savage Duet Absolution was absolutely mind blowingly good. Nicolina Martin is a seriously talented writer with a capital W. This continuation of the first book Redemption picks up the story in the back of beyond outside Winnipeg in Canada where Christian has, by a complete coincidence, come across Kerry and her daughter Cecilia in her remote cottage on the edge of the forest. What follows is brutal and poignant but when Cecilia becomes ill and they have no transport following a storm Christian and Kerry are forced to walk to town, the weather is icy and the elements are dangerously near to freezing and neither of them have adequate clothing or protection and they are also both carrying injuries caused by their earlier violent clashes. There is an accident during the journey and Christian manages to save his daughter from falling down the rocky slope into the raging river but in doing so falls himself. It would appear that he has died whilst saving Cecilia’s life. Kerry continues on carrying her daughter and is found and eventually wakes up in intensive care suffering from double pneumonia. After a long stay in hospital although weak and fragile, she returns home to San Francisco to try to pick up the pieces of her life. Although she believes Christian is dead and she is therefore free, she cannot move on. Of course Christian is not dead but very seriously sick also with double pneumonia but because it takes rather longer for him to receive care and treatment he is left with serious health issues. Eventually he is drawn to return to San Francisco. Can two people who had such a violent and destructive relationship possibly come to terms? Christian turns out to be a superb, capable and caring father to Cicelia but is his tempestuous and violent coupling with Kerry too much, although her brain says no her heart and libido says yes yes yes. Their relationship is a positive rollercoaster and yet somehow they must come to a conclusion one way or the other. This was absolutely spellbinding I couldn’t put it down until it was finished and then I simply had to write my review, so at 2.00am I’m sitting in bed typing this in the dark to the tunes of my husband’s snores (sweet lovely man). This book is incredibly hot, eye wateringly violent in places and never once predictable. Fabulous fabulous read, thanks very much Nicolina, you’ve done it again.

Absolution: Part Two in the Savage Duet by Nicolina Martin will take your breath away!!! Once again we are taking an emotional, thrilling, dangerous, steamy conclusion of Christian and Kerry's love story. This story is filled with so much angst, drama, murder and betrayals as Christian and Kerry are trying to survive once he prevents her from leaving him again. Christian is changing little by little as he is forming a bond with his daughter much to Kerry's annoyance, can Kerry believe he can change? Can he atone for the sins he has committed? And how can she stop this sexual attraction and love she has for him. When their daughter gets sick, with no transportation due to the storm, they decide to go on foot but are faced with serious challenges along the way. You will be kept on edge from beginning to end as you follow all that transpires between these two as you follow the journey they take to be together. Christian proves he is a loving father and shows Kerry how much he loves her as he is willing to move at a slow pace in order to convince her that he is a changed man and that they are meant to be a family. Through all of this neither one can deny the kinky sexual attraction that is between them. Now danger strikes as someone from Kerry's past is involved in a sinister plot to hurt Christian and the Russo family. Will Christian and his family stop this plot in time? Will Christian and Kerry have the life they fought so hard to have? Kerry who has become this strong determined woman will prove to Christian she is his equal and can hold her own with the Russo's while showing him that through forgiveness and love anything is possible and that Christian can have the life he always thought would be denied him. Thank you Nicolina, once again you have taken your readers on this emotional journey about love, forgiveness and family! This duet is a must read, you will be drawn into this dark romance that will have you reading this book in one night.

I have loved this series but this heroine has totally ticked me off . The stupid woman gave me whiplash with her back and forth with Christian . Kerry kept throwing up what Christian did to hurt her when they first met . She hid his child from him numerous times . Christian did everything to prove to Kerry that he loved her and Cecelia including saving their baby’s life twice! She was an ungrateful little twat. She would be glad to get her kid back but then blame Christian for everything when in fact her meeting her ex with the baby and him helping to kidnap her was all her fault. She also took CeeCee out in a snow storm which caused her to be sick and that risked all of their lives . It was unreal how much I disliked this heroine . Yes Christian did her wrong but Eric did the same thing to Anna and they were able to put it behind them . This woman kept Christian and their child apart for 2 years with her antics . She kept acting like she was scared he was going to turn violent and hurt them but she was way more unstable mentally than Christian was . I enjoyed her getting beat up by Salvatore . These men are very rough with their women but I seem to enjoy that . 😉😂 All of this being said it ends in a beautiful HEA and I am so grateful that it did . I loved Christian to death and I loved this book, well , the entire series!!! To death !!!! Sorry I had to give spoilers in this review because I need therapy now . Well played Miss Martin! Well played ! 😘

Christian finally finds Kerry and his daughter.............but will she allow him back?

WOW WOW WOW!!!!
Absolution is the perfect end to Kerry and Christian's story that began in Redemption. Christian has Kerry again after three long years of trying to find her. He discovered Kerry living off the grid in a small cabin in the woods and she now has a daughter, Cece, which is his. Now that he has found Kerry and his daughter he is not going to let them get away a second time, no matter what it takes. He is not the same man that he was three years ago, just as Kerry is not the same young woman that she was. Christian much prove to Kerry that he has changed and the he wants to be a father to his daughter. He also needs to keep them both safe. The question is whether Kerry will be able to let Christian back in her life knowing what he does?
This story is filled with so many emotions it is a true rollercoaster of a ride. I was once again enthralled by the writing of Nicolina Martin as she is able to weave so many things into a wonderfully intricate and intoxicating story.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

The relationship between Christian and Kerry was a roller coaster of so many emotions. So much confusion, they could barely be civilized with each other yet they were drawn to each other with a variety of emotions. Kerry took Cecelia and ran to Canada to hide in almost total isolation but gets found eventually. Her feelings are first of fear, strong, paralizing fear, but Christian is driven, he wants Kerry and his daughter. Kerry is strong but weak, Christian is tender, yet brutal. They both have such confused feelings of fear and pain but behind all those conflicted emotions, there is that undeniable love that both hide so well from each other. You will feel everything they do as you read their tale, you will feel the angst, pain, affection and rightly so, their confusion. Cecilia is the tie that binds them and they really try for her sake. I was drawn to their story and did not stop reading until I read the very last words. This was worth all the hours of reading to get to the final conclusion, well worth it! Bravo Ms. Martin, bravo!!!

"Absolution" is Part 2 in the story of Christian and Kerry, continuing from "Redemption". It's not a standalone, so keep that in mind, along with the other 4 previous books in the Russo Saga. ("Heat", "Ruin", "Shame") Every volume in the has been a winner and if this one appeals to you you'll definitely want to go back and read the early entries, if you haven't already.

"Absolution" is wee bit less dark than the previous entries, but it's still definitely a dark romance. There's a tenderness here we haven't seen in previous volumes, as befitting it involving an "Absolution" of sorts.

Nicolina Martin's stories bridge the gap being dark/fet romance and literature, and yes, they are more literary in structure and style. They're painstakingly developed, and loooong....I have to say, I did start to sympathize with Christian here, hoping Kerry would just quit equivocating and let the HEA happen already. But, this is a highly recommended read from me in a highly recommended series, with an author I intend to follow with any further entries in the Russo Saga, and beyond.

Part 2 in the Savage duet, the continuation of Christian and Kerry's story certainly didn't disappoint.
I seriously didn't know what to expect from this book, as I couldn't see a way past the hurt and deception Christian put Kerry through. Being left pregnant and on the run and hiding from Christian, I was certainly thankful to see the way Kerry's character grew, gone was the trusting sweetheart and replaced by a quick thinking, still lovable but hardened woman who would do anything to protect her baby. Christian, unable to find Kerry and the baby goes down a violent slippery slope until by chance he finds her again. Sexy as hell Christian grows emotionally too, together and overtime they fight to overcome the betrayal, but it is done in a way that is believable. Still fast paced and exciting, It is not as dark as part one, but this by no means make it anything other than a great conclusion.
I can't wait for the next book in the Russo saga.

Those two finally made it!

Along the way I had my doubts, even though I knew there would be a happy ending, but damn, it was close.
Sunk and carried away in this story, screaming and shoving that Kerry and Christian sometimes avoided the right words. In their inner monologues they were often so close to a possible solution or even redemption. But the imprisonment in themselves and their experiences and the stubbornness of the two entertained the reader very well and made for a wonderful, great and perfectly beautiful long reading journey.
Hats off, and hands up, these books of the Russo saga are worth every minute of reading and fantastically written. Among the 5 books so far, I could hardly name one of the leaders. Each one is different and yet just as great as the others.

A must-read for lovers of mafia novels and romances with a penchant for the dark side of love and power!

This story was soooo beautiful!!! This book started out with a lot of action and angst, as the previous one, but then we see the change in Christian’s character/personality and transformation into a different person, with warm feelings. Kerry continues to have reservations towards him and keeps fighting her feelings, denying their chemistry and attraction. In the end they are able to find their HEA. I think this new Christian is my new Book Boyfriend. Initially I didn’t like him, but as time goes by and he changes, he is so much more likable and his hotness goes up another notch. On the other hand, Kerry is such a strong woman, she matches with him perfectly because she is his other half. It seems she is able to provide him with what he is missing and complement each other.
This book is worth 5+ stars! I loved it!

Explosive Conclusion!

AMAZING!!! Finally we get an amazing, explosive conclusion to Kerry and Christian’s tumultuously explosive and intense relationship. There is so much emotion and powerful energy between these two characters that they fully entrance you and keep you from putting the book down. You love them and hate them throughout the whole story. There were many times that Kerry made me very angry with her decisions and her indecisiveness that I wanted to scream at her. But there were also many times when Christian had me hating and loathing him. These two characters are so intense you can feel their emotions coming out of the book. It was like they were going to combust. Their story makes you cry, hate and love. Definitely a story to read.

The writing is amazing as always and the story is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.

My heart hurt for Kerry and the constant emotional and physical pain she endured again and again with Christian. What a messy life she had with her love for him battling with her fear and desire.
This Dark Dark Romance was graphic, gritty and brutal. Full of elements bordering and crossing the lines of acceptable again and again.
Still, in the midst of betrayal, hurt, and fear, their perverted love and need for each other seemed to prevail.
As impossible as it was, the author was able to convince me that Christian’s slow transformation into a better version of himself was real and and sincere. It’s true that Kerry had to accept his darkness, and lost a bit of herself in the process, but it made for a great dark storyline.

There are really no words good enough for how powerful Christian and Kerry's story is, just pure perfection on every page as they are dragged through the darkness and such intense dangerous explosive scenes I was biting my nails with worry as they will have you hating and loving them throughout the whole story wondering why god just do it.
These two are explosive there's no other word for it their a danger to each other in every way. These are characters that you will not forget anytime soon. They imprint themselves in to your very soul. I can't say enough how great this story is it's fabulous, brilliant, and the writing is beyond anything you will ever read. Get ready for Christian and Kerry you will not be sorry.

An Array of Emotions

It is like the author uses the strongest magnet on Earth to intertwine with her words to engulf you inside the story. You feel like you are apart of it as you feel every emotion.

All the emotions are spinning at such force you truly feel everything this dark romance has to offer.

You can feel the isolation, the draw to each other, the confusion, terrorizing fear, strength, weakness, tenderness, brutality, pain, conflict, and affection, as I said before this book is a rollercoaster ride of constant emotion.

I couldn't pull myself away until the last page and. Can not wait to read Nicolina Martin's next book. I highly recommend you grab it too.

ABSOLUTION

A lot of kinky books talk about women becoming a puddle when they've been seduced by the right guy. Well, ABSOLUTION has made me a puddle. This story is so very beautiful. The saga of Christian, Kerry, and CeCe continues, and Nicolina Martin has written it perfectly. Not one flaw, except that the book ought to come with kleenex! I could not put it down - I read from 11pm one night until 6am the next morning, reading and re-reading parts. I was mesmerized by the gentle weaving of the words written, the mental pictures explained, and the love that was blossoming and blooming. This is a very special book; one that I will not forget.

Another five star read but would have given more! The second in the Russo Duet. We met Christian and Kerry who meet previously not under the best circumstances he had been sent by his uncle the notorious mob boss Santiago to get rid of the nosy red head. The second story focuses on Christian trying to redeem himself and be the man that Kerry and their daughter deserves. The book made me laugh, cry and wanna shake the characters. But finally we were given the ending we all wanted.
Ms. Martin continues to write these intriguing and suspenseful stories about the amazing men in the Salvatore crime family .

We start where we left off. You do have to read Redemption to understand what is going on in this book. I recommend reading the other three books as well. Christian has found Kerry and Cecilia in Canada. Unfortunately, things do not go smoothly and all three of them almost die. In fact, Kerry thinks that Christian is dead. She moves back to her mother and goes to Luci to tell him that Christian died. ahh...but Luci already knows that he is alive. And, then the push and pull between Kerry and Christian begins again. I will tell you that there is a HEA and that there looks like there will be a book 6 in the series.

The Russo Saga

I have read many series but this is amazing. Sometimes I would have to have a break because it is pretty rough at times but the series is wonderful. This author is fantastic to have been able to write these books. Also, and it may not matter to some, there just simply were no errors in grammar. I sure hope she will write more like this series and I would love to hear more about the Russo's. This author is my favorite bands down. Thank you for these books.

I have to give it 5 stars. Great ending to an interesting dysfunctional Russo/Salvatore family. Christian and Kerry's epic back and forth battle finally ends.. do they find peace and finally call a truce? Can Kerry ever forgive Christiano and learn to trust him? Proof is in the reading.. check it out and read it

Ahm...

I thought their story dragged a little too long. Especially on Christian's part. Why couldn't he just confess sooner? But then again, it would've been against his alpha-dominant character. And the ending? I know I complained about the story being dragged too long. But sheesh, did it really have to end so abruptly? I'm glad they found each other again though.
