Prostate Cancer Strikes: Navigating the Storm by Gogs Gagnon is a thoughtful and humorous memoir with the goal of helping others with cancer. It might sound strange to say that a book about cancer has moments of humor, but Gogs Gagnon uses his own unique blend of eccentric surrealism to lighten the mood as he shares his story. The book has a lot of heart, as well as a great deal of cynical humor. If you’re a bit of a sci-fi nerd like I am, you will definitely appreciate Gagnon’s clever perspecti ...more

Gogs gives more than voice to every man who is dealing with prostate cancer. He gives them his hand. And these men's journey can be much lighter after reading this must-have book. It's essential for every man, even those who don't have to deal with cancer.

An excellent and very informative, readable and honest account of what it like is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and endure its treatments. It is also very informative, documenting pre diagnosis, through to life beyond surgery. A must for anyone worrying about or going through prostate cancer; equally so for their family and friends.

The folksy narration, peppered with quotes from literature and pop culture, tackles hard subjects unflinchingly and with a matter of fact tone. As a lawyer, I particularly liked the reminder to get ones legal documents in order before surgery. Would definitely recommend this book to any man facing treatment for prostate cancer.

As the daughter of a two-time prostate cancer survivor, I truly believe that Gogs Gagnon’s research and personal understanding of the disease will help others, whether they are facing prostate cancer themselves, or are simply curious about it. Prostate Cancer Strikes intricately weaves together elements of courage, strength and humour to create a beautiful depiction of Gogs’ journey with and beyond the disease. Gogs' calm and kind demeanour is on high display, creating an infectious philosophy o ...more

I found myself crying, laughing and cheering. I wish this book had been available when my husband and I first received the frightening news he had prostate cancer.

Written as a personal narrative, this book gives an honest account of the author's experience with the stress and uncertainties of prostate testing and ultimately his prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. Peppered with humor and touching anecdotes, the book describes his process of choosing a treatment plan and how he overcame side effects. Gogs also includes some of his regrets about the process and turns these regrets into recommendations to the reader. This is one of the most valuable thin ...more

Gogs Gagnon's breathtakingly honest account of his prostate cancer journey, coupled with detailed research, information, and coping tips about a disease that impacts all aspects of a man's life, is an absolute must-read for prostate cancer sufferers and those who love them. It's odd to portray a book on such a grim subject a page-turner, but it is. While not minimizing the impacts, "Prostrate Cancer Strikes -- Navigating the Storm" charts a path for turning a shattering and frightening life even ...more

Great read

My partner and I have just gone through him having surgery. He is even younger than you were. Wish this would have been out then. Lots of insight. Thank you for sharing.
