Giving this three stars because it is the average of what I would give the individual stories in this anthology. Reviewing anthologies is always hard - they're almost guaranteed to be a mixed bag wrt alignment with your own tastes and preferences, and an anthology as committed to a diverse range of storytelling styles and subjects as this one logically contains some things that are less my jam. That same diversity does pretty much guarantee, in my opinion, that everyone will find at the very lea ...more

Anthologies are always hard to rate, for obvious reasons. I found a few gems in there, stories that were very hot but also made me laugh and/or have Emotions TM, and that I'll definitely reread. In any case, even for the stories I didn't like, a very refreshing and delightful diversity of characters, genres, genders, tropes, sexualities, settings, kinks, tones - definitely recommend if you're looking for Something Else in terms of erotica! ...more

n anthology of 50 erotic shorts, most of which are only 4-5 pages in length, Erato is just as diverse as you might expect, but stronger than you dared hope. For that, Alex Freeman, Guinevere Chase, and T.C. Mill deserve all the respect in the world, putting together a stronger batch of stories than I expected, given the flash fiction length and the sheer volume of stories.

On the self-loving side, an early standout with its attention to detail was the Eleven Buttons by Jaye Raymee. Amidst the han

I'm rating 5 stars because of course, in my opinion, all the stories we accepted for this anthology were the best of the best--and compiling this collection meant making some difficult choices!

Each individual story is short (6 pages or less), but with fifty of them, there’s quite a lot of erotic adventure within. And these stories aren't only meltingly seductive but also smart, mixing in new perspectives, humor, insight, and literary flair.

If your appetite isn't whetted enough yet, check out the

No rating yet because I'm jumping back and forth to whatever grabs me, but I'm really enjoying this so far!

I loved Pairing Mode by Art Holland - really smart and sweet, full of great worldbuilding and detail about the workings of human/android relationships, and packs a ton of characterisation and chemistry into a small space!

I also really enjoyed: The Inherent Eroticism of Cave Painters by Tiana Talaria - so vivid and such a sense of the relationship between the two characters; Synchron by Eva

I just finished reading the New Smut Project's latest anthology, Erato: Flash Fiction. NSP's erotica collections are always imaginative and thrilling, and they include a wide range of genres and flavors, from speculative sci-fi to queer realistic fiction. Each super short story channels the goal of its editors, that "good sex is worth writing well about." And the writing here is unforgettable, my friends. It borrows from the inventive, enthusiastic chaos that readers find in the best of fandom: ...more
