I loved the first book in this series Dark Memento , however in comparison Deadly Past fell seriously short. When I pick up a romantic suspense, funnily enough those are the two key elements I want to find and sadly here, neither were particularly forthcoming. Whether I’ll read Easton’s book when the time comes is yet to be decided.

I just love books that are set in a small town setting. The more the characters to get to know and loves always seem to bring me into their lives more. That's one of the perks of the Verona Bay series.

Lincoln is also a huge reason why I enjoyed Deadly Past. He's the town's sheriff and has had a thing for his neighbor ever since she moved in. As we get to know Lincoln, he proves to be a true gentleman who is also very protective. He hinted at being a pretty possessive guy but unfortunately we do

It's me. The one who hasn't read the first book. I saw it, but no matter how much I love Ms. Reus, I didn't care for the sound of it so I skipped it. This second book is a stand alone and didn't need to read the first one to enjoy this one.

Lincoln has been wanting to ask Autumn out for awhile, but could tell she wouldn't say yes. Autumn has a bad scare that results in a one night stand between them and a baby. A little bit of angst and some drama and an evil person and tr

We return to Verona Bay for book two in the series; Deadly Past giving us Sheriff Lincoln Jordan’s story. The youngest of the Jordan siblings meets his match with artist and reserved next-door neighbour Autumn Perez.

It was a constant struggle to hide her feelings from him…

I am usually a huge fan of anything Katie writes, but Deadly Past is probably the least favourite book i have read from her so far. For me it felt like a dr
I’ve always been partial to a romance that involved neighbors. Katie Reus always writes the type of heroes I love so I was especially excited to read this one.

Autumn and Lincoln were wonderful together. I liked that they’d each been eyeing each other for a while before their opportunity arose. While Lincoln was plenty alpha, and thoroughly protective, he was sensitive to what Autumn wanted and as a result was gentle while he paced his moves towards her.

Huge fan! I love that this author writes about the most yummy good guys and you definitely know who the bad guys are but Autumn is especially sweet female character and the chemistry between these two is off the charts!

Wirh Autumn's past life she tries to keep most people as distant as possible without being totally alone, but when she has a weak moment with her hunky neighbor sheriff she never dreams of what happens next.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. What a great read. I read it non stop. I was so involved in these characters, this town and this story.
Autumn is in the witness protection program, never allowing herself to get too close to anyone. Her Sheriff/ Neighbor/ town hottie would love to change that!
This is my first book by this author, and I don’t know why, but that changes now... this author will forever be on my TBR list !
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review

This book has all the elements of books I love: a surprise pregnancy, a dog, and some steam. My problem was I didn't like Ana/Autumn. I thought she was too much of a martyr with her not wanting to get too close to anyone, including Lincoln who is the father to her child. And I thought he was too wimpy for not making a stand soon enough.

I'm ahead of myself here. Autumn is in the Witness Protection Program after not only witnessing a man dumping a body in a dumpster, but

This book was a lot of. I was hooked from the start and while I liked how the whole mystery/suspense thing played out, I simply loved watching Autumn and Lincoln dance around each other and getting to hang out with their friends and family in Verona Bay.

I adored Autumn and Lincoln. Autumn is sweet, sassy and determined. She’s been through a lot, but has found a way to live her life, even if that life is restricted by some pretty stringent rules. Lincoln is simply a good man. Loy
Danger Lurks!!!

Autumn Perez aka Ana Diaz witnessed a murder when she was twenty-two, she had to change her entire life after testifying against the killer. Fast forward ten years later, she'd been living in Verona Bay as an art teaching at the local high school. She found herself in a similar situation as ten years ago and the U.S. Marshals wanted to uproot her again. But she wasn't having any of it, she was tired of running, she loved her life and her friends. Plus she was pregnant with her nei

4 1/2 Stars for this heart-pounding romance!

I just loved Autumn ... she went through so much at such a young age and came out stronger. And who wouldn’t want a hunk like Lincoln looking out for them? I really liked that their relationship developed over time even though they both could feel the electricity between them. I also loved the mystery of who was doing what to screw with Autumn’s life ... was it her past coming back to haunt her or was it someone from her present? Although this book can

Chief of Police? OK count me in! Well written but a bit formulaic story about a young woman who witnesses (and photographs) the dumping of a body. After the trial she is whisked away into witness security and after a few moves she decides she never wants to leave Verona Bay. It is ten years after the trial and Autumn feels at home in this town. Plus she is pregnant after a hot one night stand with her neighbor, police chief Lincoln. Of course, her past makes an appearance du

Deadly Past is an engaging tale of a brave young woman overcoming her past and learning to love. Autumn is a classic example of what happens when you are forced to give up the life you’ve built to protect yourself from those who seek to do you harm. She’s done everything right but it has come at a cost. She’s afraid to let anyone in. Maybe Sheriff Lincoln Jordan can crack the wall she’s built around her heart. I really enjoyed watching these two find

This story started out strong! I was hooked from the very first chapter! I love a good romance story with some mystery involved and this one did not disappoint. Stop reading reviews and just read the blurb - best to go in blind with this one.

Deadly Past was a real page turner of a story. That takes a subtle threat against art teacher Autumn, and slowly builds the suspense and tension to a point where you're not sure where the danger is going to come from and who is going to strike first. And whilst everything was a little too neatly tied up in the end, I did really enjoy the story. So much so, I read it in one morning. Not to mention I really loved the small town setting, the characters, and the romance, which was well-developed
A Deadly Past by Katie Reus is a steamy romantic suspense novel that takes us back to Verona Bay to explore the development of the romance between neighbors Lincoln Jordan and Autumn Perez, who both have a lot more than friendly or neighborly feelings for each other. Lively description, sweet and steamy romance, relatable and well-developed characters, and gripping suspense make this an entertaining, but not too dark, suspenseful read.

What you usually get with this author is a sweet, alpha protective, great guy hero who patiently waits for his lady love to realize love is inevitable between them. Then due to some graphic smexy scenes, we find out just how naughty this good guy can be. Sure, sometimes he can be a knucklehead for a little while, too, but that is definitely not the case here. Lincoln is a stand up guy, whether it be protecting Autumn or respecting her by giving her the space she needs. He’s like the per
Vernona Bay Florida gets a lot of deadly action in it for such a little town. But what a delight we get as readers when Katie Reus gives us another of her romantic suspense stories. This is book 2 in the Verona Bay series and it can absolutely be read as a standalone, although I recommend reading the first book as well just because it's a great read! Deadly Past is the second book in the Verona Bay series. Although it was a cute story that centered around different characters, there were too many similarities to book one Dark Memento. The leading ladies in both books spent almost the entirety of the stories pushing their heroes away, plus they also had someone from their pasts that caused problems.

Verona Bay #2

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I picked it up, settled in to read, and looked up later having been entertained throughout. I missed book one in the series but had no trouble reading this story without having read the previous book.

What I liked:
* The prologue: sets the stage for why Ana became Autumn and made me know I liked her in both periods of her life
* Autumn: strong, smart, kind, conflicted, artistic, canine lover, and more. I really liked her and hope

Katie Reus’s romantic suspense & paranormal romance books are reliably sexy & entertaining with adventurous action plots, but unfortunately Deadly Past falls flat for me.
