ROMANTIC FANTASY Judge Laurel Patrick blamed it on the lush island paradise of St. Thomas. Why else would she make love to a virtual stranger? Laurel wanted Sean Gannon as much as he wanted her. The chemistry was irresistibly powerful, their passion intense. Then reality unexpectedly intruded on Laurel, forcing her to leave the island -- without a chance to explain to Sean...or even say goodbye.
REAL-LIFE LOVE Sean's gut instinct as a U.S. marshal is telling him something isn't right. Once back in the States, he confronts Laurel -- and sees the hunted look in her eyes, the fear she can't hide. Sean ignores Laurel's attempts to protect him by pushing him away. The woman he loves is in danger, and he isn't going anywhere....

Enjoyable to a degree but found the stubbornness of both parties annoying. It was stupid that Laurel acted the stubborn, blinkered ostrich, in regards to her father. Without asking if what she was told was true and before she even knew the answers, she was afraid to learn the truth and preferred to jump to conclusions. She didn’t go to her extremely powerful father with the blackmail threats or to ask for the truth. Even if he was guilty of something that would end his future aspirations, he would have been able to take precautions and he loves his daughter, so would want to protect her. And when her dad shows he is not that out of the loop, she still does not tell him. Leaves it up to him to step in. Weak for someone who does the job she does, whether she likes it or not. She does admit her thinking was weak and wrong but it was too late for me. Wouldn’t want her as my judge. Sean didn’t impress me to start with his take charge attitude, maybe due to reading how he was so cold to Hayley in book one. But when he fell, he fell hard for Laurel. Then he just pushed in and takes over dealing with Laurel’s problems but he does have the expertise and he was pretty good at doing his job. So kudos to him.

I think I really liked it, but I don't remember much from the plot, so it's less memorable than I'd thought. Lauren is a judge in a pickle, and Sean is the cop who can't let her stumble on on her own.
