This is actually my first re-read of this utterly charming book. It's a combination of cookbook, memoir, wine-buying guide and bartending instructions, and while the vast majority of it is either outdated or incredibly impractical, I love it for de Groot's witty and enthusiastic voice. I will be photocopying some of his mixed drink recipes for (far) future use!
