From birth, Tanner has been the responsible one. Formerly known as Tynan, fae prince and commander of darkness, he has protected his kingdom from waves of chaos fae ever since the death of his father. Going to the human world should be an easy task, until he lays eyes on curvy, feisty Eva, and knows that she's the only one he wants to protect.
Eva is tired of everything. Her job. Her gross bosses. But she cares for the employees so she's not giving up. But one night, while venting, she shares an unexpected kiss with a tall, dark and handsome stranger. And when he shows up at her work the next day, even more tempting and gorgeous in daylight, she knows somehow, deep inside her, that things will never be the same.
As Tanner works to protect Eva from the forces chasing her, and awaken the latent fae powers inside her, explosive chemistry erupts between the two lovers. But danger is lurking around every corner, and if they want a happy ending, they'll have to be united...or fall.
Defended by Darkness is book 2 in the Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds series. No cheating. No cliffhanger. Just a fun, sexy, action-packed romance featuring an irresistible warrior prince and the woman he wants forever.
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

This is only the second book I've read by this author and I think she's a keeper! I'm really enjoying this series! The overall pacing and writing style is so good.
I loved how headstrong and independent Eva was. Though she's almost naively optimistic that the company she's worked for for 10+ years actually likes and cares about her even though the higher-ups can't stand her because profits > the well being of all employees. She sees the good in people and initially she's really set on that notion. The only thing I disliked was her first and only fight with Tanner. I understand the reasons behind it but if someone had a problem that involved me and made a point to try and bring me a solution to the problem before I even knew it was a problem in the first place I would be ecstatic. Maybe that's just me?
Tanner (and all the heroes presented so far) was a breath of fresh air! I love seeing romance novels represent men as respectful and caring beings capable of communication and emotion. I know shocking right? Tanner is attentive, sweet and protective. He tried his best to take things at her pace and to introduce her slowly into his world. Though it was too mushy at times, it was still sweet.
I'm starting to see a pattern with the ending of these novels. I love the heroine kicking butt but I would love to see her falter or maybe overdo it to a degree. For me, her not having any training beforehand and doing all these amazing magical tricks perfectly just takes away from how incredibly powerful and amazing the guys' magic is described/supposed to be.
My Favorite Quotes:
"I'm just saying sometimes we love something... even when we know it's not good for us."
"Everything we do filters through the lens of our experience. Just because there are more horrible things that happen to others that we can't comprehend, it doesn't make our experiences meaningless."
"Your heart will harden and adjust to violence. Though, it might be better if it doesn't."
I love this book! It's sweet and sensual and emotional. I couldn't put it away until read. Two independent, strong persons find and fall in love with each other, learning to trust and defend each other. The villains were unexpected, I didn't see them coming, which was interesting. Usually I don't like so much office romances or the selfish power-hungry corporate world, which was the background of this story, but in this book it was okay because I loved the story otherwise. I definitely am looking forward to the next book in the series, Flynn's story. I highly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal and shifter romances.
Oh how I love Ms Bolryder 's books. Each one holds a interesting tale of other worldly characters. How they find their mates with humans and the trials they go through to get their rewards of long lasting love. This new series is just as fascinating as all the rest of her series.
I love these fae, this world just grows more beautifully. I'm enjoying the new characters and strong women. I can't wait to see what comes from this new adventure
*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content Another great PNR from Bolryder! I like that these characters were really quite alike, in this case it didn't fit the "opposites attract" motto.
Main characters. On the surface heroine character is a type I usually love. But here I felt disinterested and frankly didn’t care about either of them. Liked the other two unmatched male fairies more. Will read other book about them because of that otherwise I would not read anymore in series.
I am so completely engaged in this amazing series! This story has everything you could ask for, including mystery, chaotic mayhem, and two very charismatic characters.
This book was o.k. Not great like the others. This book seemed to be introduction to the main characters, steamy romance, the end. I would not re-read this but I read it to keep up with the series and the follow-on books.
Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds book 2. This is Tanner story and was super great read. So Tanner is looking for his soul bond and she is tough, smart and able. Passionate, dramatic and full of angst. This far story has it all. Onto the next book.
Wow! The Fae are a fantastic addition to Terry's universe and each book just adds more dimension. No man should be an island but Tanner/Tynan tries.
Another beacon has been found by both the good Fae and the chaos Fae. Tanner/Tynan (dark Fae) knows at first sight that Eva is his soulbond and he will do anything to protect and bond with her. Eva is protective, also, as she tries to improve the conditions and do what is best for the people in her company.
The story is told form both his and her point of view and let's us in on what each of the main characters is thinking and their emotional state. There is not a whole lot of interaction between the Fae but witnessing Tanner/Tynan's journey from leader/protector/lone-decision-maker to perfect soulbond mate really kept me reading when I should have been working. For those interested in the heat factor, Eva and Tanner are volcanic. There is not a lot of action in this story but the confrontation at the end of the story gives a great display of power (though I don't think anything will match Avery's "get-away-from-him-b*tch" moment at the end of Found by Frost, which was AWESOME). I truly loved the whose is bigger comparison - poor Brett/Boreas.
Overall, following Tanner/Tynan, the alone, protector of his kingdom, on his journey to finding and bonding with a partner, was a thoroughly enjoyable story. After the revelations in this story, I cannot wait for Ian/Ivar's story - Loved by Light (who am I kidding - I am looking forward to more Fae - period).
Defended by Darkness is the second book in Terry Bolryder’s new Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds Series. It is a steamy paranormal shifter romance that is written in first person, from the point of view of both the hero and heroine. This is a fun read, with great characters, a happily ever after and no cliff hangers.
Eva Bennett is an independent and kind woman who knows what she wants and enjoys working to help others. Tynan "Tanner" Shadeson is a strong and dominant, take charge prince of darkness who has come to protect humanity from the chaos faes. When they meet, Eva is inexplicably drawn to Tanner and she quickly learns that he is the key to understanding the mystery deep within herself. They can’t resist each other, but they both have strong ideas about what they want and how things should be. Will they be able to come together and form a strong bond, or will the chaos forces surrounding them destroy their new found love and end their lives? Read it and find out!
All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. Will the next book be about Flynn or Ian? I can wait to read more from this series.
This is a voluntary review of a reader’s advance copy.
I am liking this better now, although I will always be more partial to dragons. Tanner is the commander of the Darkness Fairies. He meets Eva, who is VP in charge of Human Resources in a company. She has been having a rough time at work. He knows she is his soul bond, but things are much more difficult than he thought. Chaos is everywhere and they do a very good job of hiding. The pace is fast, the tone is hopeful yet uncertain and the storyline is character oriented with some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are well developed. I think I just identify with the dragons better. If you don't want to read all the previous Dragon stories, there is at least one that introduced the fairies, Dragon in Love. Then read these fairy books in order. I do love what Terry Bolryder writes. If you like these fairy books, then you will probably enjoy all her dragon series. You can start with Double Dragons box set and Tiger Protectors box set of you are ok with two on one and sharing. If not, start with Awakened Dragons box set. There are about 8 or 9 more series after a that one! So if you have not read any by Terry Bolryder, you have a lot that you can read. Enjoy!
I love Terry Bolryder books and this series reminds me why. It's wonderful. I would recommend reading in series and I missed the last few books of the prior series and I now know I really need to read those books but I'm loving this series so much. There are multiple reasons why- great characters, beyond the couple. This series follows 4 fae princes who came to this world to try to find beacons (hidden fae princesses who don't know they are fae princesses) before the bad guys (Chaos) find them and take their magic. Such an imaginative story line. This specific story follows Tynan/Tanner, the Prince of Darkness and Eva. It's interesting as it ties in the fae aspect and a corporate aspect, as Eva is an HR director and Tanner ends up being hired to be a CEO (apparently one of the characters in the prior series is very very influential!). I loved how the characters interacted and both stories in this series show a growth of these characters as the fae prince has to get used to the human world and the woman has to get used to the fae world. Overall, it was a book I just wanted to lose myself in. Looking I'm forward to the next one!
This is the second book in this wonderful series about four fae princes sent to the human realm to save four beacons four fae princesses who have no idea who or what they are though they do have signs that they are different
This is Tanner(Tynnan's ) story he is the prince of darkness and the most warrior like of the four fae after all his realm is the first bastion against chaos. He knows the moment he meets Eva that she is the beacon meant for him but he is determined not to make the same mistakes Brett made with Avery So Tannen worms his way into Eva's life by becoming the interim CEO of the company where she is the head of human resources The only problem is that his protective instincts are in overdrive Can he keep her safe when the danger is much closer than they realise Will the assumption that he has made that she will return with him to his realm also be more than she can handle is another fae prince about to learn just how strong these fae princesses are.
Found by Frost: Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds Book 1 By Terry Bolryder Kindle unlimited purchase After months in the human world, the four fae prince warriors are ready to fight evil, the dragons have taught them everything they could, it is now time for them to do their job. Brett (Boreas) is the first to find his soul bond and he got more than he expected. Avery always knew she was different, and the last thing she plans to do is go sharing her secret. Especially not with the blonde hottie who just moved in downstairs with his three ridiculously beautiful friends. Even if every time Avery runs into him she feels something powerful she's never felt before Ian (Ivar) is the next fae prince warrior to get his book. There seem to be 4 books in this series, I will be reading them when they come out. Found by Frost: Brett and Avery Defended by Darkness: Tanner and Eva Held by Heat ? Loved by Light ?
Eva had committed herself to the company for years. She knew she'd been passed over for promotions but she fought to make things better for all the employees. She didn't go out much and was annoyed with the men who tried to pick her up when she did. So why did she find Tanner so attractive? When she went to dinner with him, she had no idea she'd see him again so soon—the next morning when he showed up as her interview for the new interim CEO.
What she didn't know is that she is his Fae Beacon and soul bond.
It is a good read with the intrigue of the bad guys and the fun with his fellow Fae Princes. I enjoyed her coming out and their building relationship. He is so different from the last Fae Prince in the series. The author always gives us touching moments as well as showing the strength of her heroes and heroines.
Defended by Darkness: Wings, Wands and Soul bonds book 2 by Terry Bolryder is a 5 star read. Eva is CHRO of the company Qualtechnics and is on the hunt for the third CEO in a year, but the men in the boardroom don’t take too much notice of her recommendations. When the guy who kissed her the night before and left a great impression shows up for an interview for the job Eva tried to have him blocked but it doesn’t work. Tanner is the prince of the darkness kingdom and is so used to doing everything himself but when he comes up against his soul bond, Eva he knows things will need to be different. I’m a huge fan of Terry Bolryder’s books and this book is definitely one of my favourites which I know I will read again. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I like how the author tried to break away from making the dark price a dark charector . There was a chapter or two where it reminded me of 50 shades but not exactly . Read it and you’ll see what I mean .
So far this is probably the sexiest book of the series ! It didn’t take as long for Eva to trust and warm up to Tanner , it kind of bummed me out but I know you can’t make every book the same .
I was going to read a book in between this one and Flynn but I was especially drawn in when there was mention of the beacon being in her early 30s and loved cats and books - not one to attract all the men/attention . Can’t wait to read that one now , No skipping . 😂
Tanner is the Prince of Darkness and he finds his soul bond when he meets the next beacon they are to protect. Eva’s life is all about work but when she meets a stranger and tells him about all her works woes....only to meet him the next day for an interview to become CEO, things start taking on a different hue❣️
I loved this story of Tanner and Eva😍 Terry has a way with words and I know each time a story comes out that she written, it’s going to be even better than the last one😁 I can’t wait to find out more about our fae princes and want to thank Terry for my advanced copy which I voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
You work hard all your life, doing it on your own and then a man come in and tells you he will take care of everything. Um.. I don’t think so and neither does Eva. She is smart, hardworking, and independent. Tanner comes in and thinks he can, basically, take care of everything. The whole book is a learning curve for the characters. It is a very fun adventure. It is pretty much my life except for the Fae part. Very relatable and grabs you and doesn’t let you go. I really love these Fae Princes even if I do a lot of face slapping. I received an advance copy of this book and I lovingly leave my review.
I enjoyed Tanner and Eva's story. Eva represented a lot of woman in the corporate world. She was not respected by the men in the company but she worked hard too hard really and wanted to make the company great and do right by the other employees. The men laughed and talked about her behind her back. Tanner who I liked from the beginning tries hard to do right by Eva and tried to do right for the company that she is so vested in. I have to say I did not see the chaos coming the way that it did. I have to sigh when the rest of the group shows up late. Good read as usual. The scene in the total darkness was very hot hot hot!
A very good addition to the Fae series. I loved Tanner and how he tried to take it all a little slower and be respectful of Eva. Eva had some personal issues but she didn't really let it interfer with her bonding with Tanner. I was somewhat surprised that she was so blind to the things going on around her at work but then we can all be blind to that which is closest to us. I was really not on board with how the climactic fight between our couple was playing out but thankfully everyone at some crow and it felt pretty balanced. Can't wait to Flynn. Though the way he and Ian were carrynig on threw me for a loop and intrigued me...
I've read most of Terry Bolryder's books, but the last 2 series I've read (forgotten dragons & this one) are increasingly more feminist (for lack of a better term) and constantly making the majority of men to be horrible misogynists, etc. I'm happily married, and have a great dad and son.
I will probably finish this series, but beyond that who knows. If the anti-man rhetoric continues, I'll move on to the next author. I read for pleasure and it's hard to escape into a fantasy world with brave heroes & strong women when you're constantly pulled back into the #metoo all men are bad mentality 🤷
Fae prince of shadows and darkness, Tynan ‘Tanner’ Shadeson ventures out in the human world to protect unawakened fae princess HR manager, Eva Davidson from chaos princes out to capture her and steal her powers. Eva’s suspicious of their ‘chance’ meeting in a bar the night before she has to interview Tanner for the vacant interim CEO position at her company. Annoyed, Eva’s not certain their bar flirt wasn’t Tanner’s way of ensuring he got the job and tries fruitlessly to resist his charms.
Not particularly a fan of this series and unsure if I’ll continue, the plots and characters are too thin and/or lose my interest or sometihng. It just doesn't work for me. Rating: 3.25stars
Tanner, the protector of the darkness, is used to doing everything on his own and never shared his responsibility or his burden of leading. He might have to change his ways, when he meets his soul bond and Beacon Eve. I loved the fact that a Fae prince could blend so well as CEO. I'm not sure if it's, because Tanner has learned so much or that CEOs can do so little and not be suspicious. I didn't see the twist of who the chaos prince was coming. I love being surprised. After reading this I am looking forward to Flynn's story.
I’m really enjoying the path the author has taken the fae on. I love how the guys know their soul bond and then have to figure out how to win the lucky lady over. This book is a fantastic example of that. The author had to overcome the way this couple thought about the world and then shape them into the pair they would become. There was so much emotion in this book and the steamy scenes are off the charts, plus the danger is real and rounds out the story perfectly. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Wow this book was sooooo good. I love this series. This is Eva and Tanner's story. Tanner is the dark fae Prince and in charge of everything. Eva is a HR personal used to putting out the flames. When these two come together sparks fly. But when Tanner is used to commanding everyone he'll so learn woman don't like that. When the chaos warriors see weakness in the soul bond couple they make their move. Can these two come together and save each other? Can Eva manifest her powers to save her soul bond? Or will there two be lost to the darkness?
I love the storyline and the characters in this book like always Terry does such a great job there! I dropped it down from a 5 to a 4.5 because of the editing issues. Examples like going into great detail describing her pantsuit for the party and then they get home and he takes off her dress, only she wasn't wearing a dress. Also the party was in the conference room and then all of a sudden it's in a ballroom. There were a couple of other glaring editing errors & they were just distracting and not usually on par with her books. Maybe I need to edit them for her...lol 😉
