I enjoyed this story so much! These characters had great back stories. Scott had a crush on Shelby in high school, however Shelby hardly paid Scott any attention back then. Well, things would definitely change in this novel!
At the beginning of the book, these two seemed to be opposites. Shelby appeared to see herself as better and more professional than Scott. I liked the way the author revealed how Shelby came to be this way and I absolutely loved her transformation throughout the story, with a focus on healing her relationship with the Lord.
The attraction between Scott and Shelby was very well-written. Also nicely done were the reactions of both Shelby and Scott to various situations. Whether it was Shelby feeling guilty over moving on to a new relationship, or Scott feeling hurt by Shelby’s reactions to him, the tension these interactions brought to the story made it feel very believable. These two characters felt very real, with flaws and attributes that made me want the best for them. The hint of mystery was a great addition to the story, as well. I loved this book from start to finish!

Denise never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful books and this one is no exception!! I love how her writing style is from her heart.
Her stories will leave you with a lot to think about long after you read them and did I mention this book is a perfect Fall read? Yep it sure is!!
I really like how she added just a bit of mystery to go along with it! Old houses usually do have some kind of mystery. If only those walls could talk!! The stories we'd hear and probably the not so ones to hear either!!

Fall is just around the corner and Denise Weimer’s Fall Flip is the perfect book to curl up with. Weimer has created a fun and engaging story involving a home renovation and a touch of romance romance with a bit of cozy mystery feel. The characters in this story are both engaging and easy to relate to. This charming story also has a bit of a Hallmark movie feel. It is a charming and easy read that is just right for the cooler fall weather.

I really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect fall read! The characters were very likable, especially Lester and Ruby. I like this take on home renovation with a side of romance and mystery. I would definitely read this one again. I recommend this book!

I really enjoyed this book!

There is so much that I loved about this book. It features a love affair that has lasted fifty years and a new relationship that has been ten years in the making. There is a house renovation that will honor one couple's enduring partnership and perhaps be the start of a new partnership for another couple and there is a mother's disappearance and the mystery surrounding it that has plagued this house for forty years!
I am a fan of the many television programs that focus on house flips and author Denise Weimer has completely captured this atmosphere in Fall Flip. As I read about Shelby Dodson and her late husband's successful television show I could easily visualize Chet's on-camera antics and feel Shelby's need to be more reserved. I could also understand just why she was so reticent to allow herself to become close to Scott Matthews, the contractor who was chosen to help in this renovation process. She and Scott had known each other in high school and Scott recognized in her a need for self-affirmation but she still often appeared aloof and uncompromising. These were the times I could have strangled Shelby because I absolutely adored Scott and I couldn't believe that she couldn't recognize just how special he was.
I also appreciated Lester and Ruby Wentworth, the couple celebrating fifty years of marraige. It was very apparent that much of their marital success was due to their strong committment to God and to each other. It is their own happiness that prompts them to want the same for Scott and Shelby and Lester is more than eager to offer Scott advice. "If a man can cook, he can do anything. And with his cooking, he can say anything. Can you cook, Scott Matthews?" What follows are cooking lessons for Scott as Lester teaches him how to make hermit cookies and homemade chicken noodle soup. Yes, the food was delicious and appreciated by Ruby and Shelby but it was the male bonding and friendship that was priceless.
Fall Flip is wonderful contemporay Christian fiction that reminds us that houses aren't the only things that need renovation. Our lives can become torn, tattered, and in need of repair and we often need help and restoration from other people and from the Master Carpenter Himself. Fall Flip is very inspiring and romance lovers will enjoy it; Weimer's description of the renovation and the completed project made me want to live in this restored Wentworth bungalow!

Fall Flip by Denise Weimer is a delightful contemporary Christian romance. The novel has the central themes of restoration and new beginnings. Within the novel there is a house that is being renovated for a couple celebrating fifty years of marriage. Running parallel are lives that need restoring, and with God’s help, new beginnings are possible.
Being true to yourself is important. Sometimes we put on a performance for the world but we really need to show our true selves. Life is not all about performing, life is for living in freedom and truth.
Life deals us blows, blows from which we wonder if we will ever recover. We feel alone but there is One who will never leave us. “I’m still here, a voice whispered in her head. I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Forgiveness is important. It is as much for our sake as for others. If we want to live in freedom, we must forgive or risk becoming bitter. “With God’s help… I forgave [her]… because the anger… was eating me up inside.”
We must not judge. We do not know what others are going through. We need to dispense grace and leave the rest up to God. “Give a person a chance, and leave the rest in God’s hands.”
Prayer is important. We should pray about everything – the big things and the small – we want God’s guidance in every area of our lives.
Denise Weimer has created a delightful set of characters from the very young to the very old. Her descriptions bring the characters to life in glorious 3D. The reader can almost ‘see’ their interactions. Likewise, comprehensive descriptions enable the reader to ‘walk’ through the action.

This was my first experience with the author and I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last. This book is a lot like reading an episode of Extreme Home Makeover. And it left me the same kind of happy emotional mess at the end. I loved both Scott and Shelby, but the pair of them frustrated me to no end. They’ve both got some pretty heavy emotional baggage they’re carrying around that keeps tripping them up. Together, they’re a perfect pairing, they just need to be able to move past their histories and stop getting in their own way. I loved reading the messages of new life, lasting love, experiencing the world with an open heart, and most especially forgiveness – of others and ourselves. They’re beautiful sentiments that the world can always use more of.

Denise Weimer is one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her books to date, and she certainly did not disappoint with this one. I read it in two days and had a hard time putting it down. Since my husband and I recently celebrated our 62nd anniversary, I could relate to Lester and Ruby. And I was cheering for Scott and Shelby as they worked through all the issues that made it difficult for them to build a relationship. The mystery in the book created some tension, but I was happy with the way it was solved. I also appreciated the spiritual references in it. The ironic thing about reading this book at this particular time is my daughter and her husband are presently working on a fall flip! If only the walls of that old home could talk! Thank you, Denise, for a delightful read.

Grab your favorite Fall drink and sit back and relax and enjoy this Fall read! Ruby and Lester were favorites as supporting characters. Shelby is mourning the loss of her husband and trying to figure out who she is as she forges ahead. Scott is a friend from high school and he always wanted Shelby to notice him. They get put together to do a renovation for Ruby and Lester. Of course it is not without a few hiccups. Mystery shrouds the house from the beginning. Beautiful second chance love story. Shelby is still mourning the loss of her husband nine months ago, and re-building her life. She is hired to re-decorate for a couple who have hired Scott to do the renovations. It just so happens Scott whet to school with Shelby and has loved her since then, but he was quiet and shy and she was one of the popular girls. Scott hopes he finally has a chance to win her heart, but there are problems. They have different styles and ways of doing things, Shelby is still in mourning and finding her way, and as they work together a decades old mystery is uncovered regarding the house. How will this affect their renovation; if the renovation is still on?

Sweet Story!
This was a sweet story. It reminded me of those home improvement shows which have become so popular lately. However, this story had a but of a twist to it.
I enjoyed the relationship between Shelby and Scott. How they started out with judgemental feelings towards each other and hurt from the past, which clouded their ability to really see each other. It was sweet to see how their lives changed and how the friendship of the older couple of Lester and Ruby helped them learn to view each other differently.
This author is a new to me authors, however, I guess I now have another author to read and enjoy.

Denise Weimer’s research is evident as I became invested in Lacey and Scott’s life. I learned so much about house flipping, rehab and the tools of the trade. Such a creative plot that lent itself well to blossoming love. I spent hours of a day engaged in these characters rather than tend to other things I needed to do. I’m a sucker for complicated romances that delve deep into the emotional and psychological needs of the characters. Well done! I’ll be checking out other books by this author.

Cute characters and side characters, love all the house details, and nice reflective book as both Scott and Shelby learn from their mistakes and misperceptions and open their hearts to their future.

An enjoyable read. I like the writing style of Denise Weimer, it is easy to read and well formulated. I liked the plot with the interplay between Shelby and Scott. The touch of mystery added with the unsolved case of the fifty year old disappearance of the previous house owner's wife. Thanks Denise for the pleasurable read.

Shelby and Scott fall for each other. I thought this was a really sweet romance. I can't imagine the heartache of losing a spouse and the guilt of letting go and moving on. Loved the matchmakers. The angst had me nervous and I wanted to ugh a Scott but Shelby came through. The ending was so romantic.

Everything in this is like you are there. You see each person, are sitting beside them and walking each step, wondering what they will do. All the people evolved in their lives, you want to meet. I enjoyed the element of faith. Although I thought there could have been just a bit more. I truly am fascinated at the author’s knowledge of restoration, remodeling and interior decorating. I enjoyed some humor amidst the underlying sadness. Good story line. Well thought out. I enjoyed this author’s writing style.

I love this fall story and the way it is written. This story is about Shelby Dodson who is trying to go with life as an interior designer after her husband's passing. She thinks she is the lead until she meets the contractor and then they both need to figure out how to work with each other. Lots of sweet moments and an interesting mystery.

Fall Flip is a charming and delightful read that is the perfect way to usher in fall. Weimer's descriptions hold you from the first page, leaving you as invested in the flip as Scott and Shelby. The romance is well-paced, and the characters are relevant and lovable.

A very enjoyable read reminiscent of TV house flipping shows which I enjoy. A clean, Christian story of second chances....several of them! Great detail and depth of characters.
