Witchcraft Cocktails starts off as any good witchy cookbook should, by regaling the reader with the history of how these ingredients relate to our craft and the purposes they can serve; in this case, a quick glimpse at the history of ancient witches utilizing spirits in their craft and a short explanation of why alcohol can be such a valuable part of spellwork. It then launches into a chapter of definitions and correlations that I thought were so interesting (such as using rum for neutralizing n ...more

This is a fun interesting take on alcoholic beverages. Although I don't believe in the the power of witches, this is still a very useful guide with recipes to make your own syrups and shrubs for flavoring in addition to full cocktail recipes.

This is no simple cocktail book, but one to use when you want to up your game and bring complex flavors together.

Recipes are grouped by season, and the photos are very well done, I just wish there were more.

Thank you Adam's Media and NetGalley for this ARC

This is a gorgeous and incredibly well done book of witchy cocktails. While I am not Wiccan, I can appreciate the book for the wealth of information that author Julia Halina Hadas passes on about everything from Tarot cards to crystals to chakras along with really thorough bartending information and then a wonderful array of Wiccan cocktails for each season of the year. Beautiful photos show more than half of the cocktails (I wish it was all) and each one has an intro about its purpose. Spells a ...more
WitchCraft Cocktails

YUM, okay yes just yum! These are some of the most delicious sounding cocktails, as well as some of the prettiest. Made extra tasty with the addition of some gorgeous syrups and sparkly adornments, the concoctions in WitchCraft Cocktails are an inspiration!

Cleverly organized by season, this recipe book is just plain fun to read. Starting with Fall, of course, we’re encouraged to stir up a witch’s brew, or a pumpkin martini. And plenty of unique drinks for the other seasons as

Julia Halina Hadas’ WitchCraft Cocktails is a fun, well-written, and unique collection of magical drink recipes. I love the stunning pictures but I really wish that book had included much more pictures of the finished drinks as well as the various magical elements.

This is a fairly lengthy book that is packed with fascinating information and great recipes. However, I never feel overwhelmed because of Hadas’ approachable and easy-to-read language. This book is so fun and interesting that you’ll b

Witchcraft cocktails is a stunningly put together cocktail book mixed with witchcraft and magic.

The beginning of the book gives information on witchcraft, spells, ingredients and how these relate to witchcraft and spell making then moves on to the cocktails themselves. The cocktails featured are stunning and I hope when I make them they look as good as the pictures. This book

One of the most beautiful cocktail books I’ve seen. I love the style of the whole thing but the photography is quite stunning.

WitchCraft Cocktails details some very interesting witchy history as it relates to alcohol as well mixology basics and general witchcraft. You learn so much more than just how to mix drinks! Each cocktail’s recipe comes with an Energies section and an Advanced Magic section so it’s really like potion making. Perfect if you’re a witch or just want a bit of fun making theme

What an amazingly fun and unique cookbook! I am not a wiccan, or follow any of these rituals religiously, but I found all the information fascinating. A bit of background on crystals and chakras and how to utilize these for a whole body/life enhancer. Plenty of fun recipes for unique and quality drinks. The pictures are gorgeous and enticing.

Recipes are separated into seasons. This makes it easy to find something fun for a holiday party or in alignment of a solstice. Recipes include advanced mag

This book also offers some unknown history about witchcraft and alcohol + recipes for homemade syrups (like elderberry syrup). Every recipe has a tarot card fact. Its was fun to read and even tried one of the recipes (Love Potion) 😂

Author Julia is a bartender and a practicing witch!

Thank you Netgalley, Adams Media and Julia Hadas for the ARC.

When I saw this book, I knew I had to check it out because it seemed like an interesting take on cocktails. I knew it was inspired by witchcraft, but I was still pleasantly surprised by how the author combined cocktails and witchcraft. I could tell that she is a practicing witch as well as a well-versed bartender right away.

I loved everything about WitchCraft Cocktails! The descriptions, the pictures, the recipes, and the detail put into every recipe was just amazing.

First and foremost, WitchCraft Cocktails: From Aphrodite's Love Potion to Mercurial Grounding Elixir, 75 Seasonal Drinks Infused with Magic and Ritual would be a wonderful addition to anyone's cocktail repertoire even if only for the drink recipes themselves. But beyond that, for it's true and intended purpose, this book is just a stunning compilation

I would buy this book just for the gorgeous photos! But the book is also informative and packed with tantalizing cocktail recipes that are divided by season. The book contains basic bartending skills as well as a history of how alcohol and magic have been intertwined, followed by a discussion of "Witchcraft Basics."

There are so many great cocktail recipes in this book, and I can't wait to try some of them out!

I really love reading cookbooks, but to be honest, I'm a harder sell for mixology books because I'm pretty clueless about alcohol. Basically, I know it gets you drunk and sometimes it tastes better than other times! I usually only go for themed mixology books, like Tequila Mockingbird and Gone With the Gin. So taking a mixology book and fusing it with elements of witchcraft and paired crystal magic -- th

This is a gorgeous book - the pictures are beautiful and engaging and absolutely make me want to make every single one of these recipes. Every cocktail looks like a potion straight out of a witch's cauldron and I wish each image also included a detailed list of where I can get some witchy glassware with the decor to match.

This book is immensely educational - it blends fun, stylish imagery with really interesting details on the basics of both bartending and witchcraft. This isn't a shallow pop cu

Witchcraft Cocktails by Julia Halina Hadas is a collection of cocktail recipes - some familiar and some new - with special attention to how these drinks can aid and uplift one’s magical practice. This is largely achieved through an exploration of the correspondences between ingredients and the elements, the seasons, astrological signs, crystals, and the tarot.

The recipes are preceded by a brief primer on cocktail making (t

I never really gave a thought to using alcohol along with spells; how novel! Of course, not being a drinker of alcohol it would never have occurred to me to add libations of any sort to my collection of spells! Nevertheless, I still enjoy reading about various alcoholic beverages to keep up with the times (Beer brewing, distillation, cordial making, etc...). Craft beers being all the rage and lately distillation of whisky has led to many new cocktails being created and I like to read about them. ...more

What a fun book of cocktails meant for those who consider themselves witches or who practice pagan magic. The book starts much like any other cocktail book, describing barkeeping basics like different types of alcohol and tools of the trade. Then it gets more interesting. There's also an introductory section about what the authors call “Witchcraft Basics.” In this section, she talks about various magical associations like planets, sun signs, tarot major arcana, an

WOW! I hardly ever give 5 stars, I reserve that distinction for books that are for some reason beloved, that I cherish, books that are like precious treasures that you take out and polish for when the days are dark, or you are in need of comfort or a walk down memory lane... or whatever.

There are many reasons why a book can be considered exceptional to someone, and this one has a bunch of them. It is so absolutely my cup of tea (or cup of Persephone's Descent, if you will). Here you will find i

As a kitchen witch and self proclaimed libation queen, I found myself intrigued at the latest offering by Julia Halina Hadas, WitchCraft Cocktails. What I found inside was a collection of perfectly named drinks (The Reaper, Ace of Swords, etc.,) that contain elements of ritual and incorporate astrology, crystals, herbs and seasons (among other tools) into potions that promote manifestations. Most of the recipes require some prep work such as making the infused ingredients or shopping for the bot ...more

Love this book! I am neither a witch nor do I drink more than an occasional something socially, but I am interested in natural processes and being in alignment with the needs of our bodies and our world. This book includes mostly alcoholic drinks, but also a good number of non-alcoholic ones, like the spiced cider called "The Witch's Offering" and the hot cocoa "Restoring Chocolate Lux." I am going to be trying those as soon as this hot weather turns.
