It's a really heartfelt premise, that a high schooler has a communication disorder and a few classmates rally to help her. It's a nice way to bring awareness to differences in communication and even that communication disorders exist. There's also a lot of great depictions of the differences of how people think they appear in a social situation and how much better others actually view them. This was still fun and cute like they always are but it definitely made me wonder how long this series is going to be and how the author will change it up/keep things interesting

Just when you thought that this series is losing steam, it starts an arc that could see this series transition into a romantic comedy. Introducing a gyaru/gal as as potential rival for Komi could go in a different but predictable direction.
I'm not a big fan of Rumiko the gyaru, but I am of the younger Komi/Tadano combination. I actually want to see more of their short arcs because they are way more interesting to me than their elder siblings.

We are entering a new arc of the story for Komi with the new school year and class change. She has an opportunity to stretch her wings and make some more friends! This newest friendship is going to be interesting to see what happens next!
Nope, still can’t communicate. It’s a new year, classes are changing, and that brings a new wave of anxiety for Komi, but what looks like a problem just might be a bit more beneficial than it first appears.
And that’s this series in a nutshell - always a bit better than it first appears. Every time a new volume comes out I read it and start off bored and then come around to it by the end. It’s a very specific pattern to this series.

Another day, another adorable volume of Komi Can't Communicate.
I really loved Manbagi's introduction and her friendship with Komi. Like a lot of character archetypes, the gyaru character is usually the same in most media so I wasn't impressed when I saw she'd be the new character of the volume. But I was pleasantly surprised and delighted! She may just be one of my new fave characters, next to Najimi and Otomine of course. Also, her friend group is awesome and super caring and supportive. Komi Can't Communicate, Vol. 10 brings about some changes, with Komi and the gang moving to a new school year (and class). Thankfully, our core trio are still together (+ Katai) and making new friends. Manbagi is the main new friend (view spoiler) introduced in this volume. I just absolutely love this series!
Komi is gorgeous, just beautiful. I also love that one of the main characters is trans. This mangaka does that right. No big deal is made about it, there's no bullying or drama about it, just occasional clues & once-in-awhile queries from this or that student. I love that Najimi never answers those questions, just skates right past it lol. I think she's adorable. So friendly, so excitable, so outgoing. Everyone loves Najimi. Awesome. This is officially my favorite manga in the world! One theirs so much diversity, a black girl that I relate to so much. The plot keeps progressing with all the characters. Plus I love how the two main characters siblings get a storyline too. I love how theirs new characters to focus on. I smell a new ship..

Refreshing volume with the same foolishness you’d come to expect from this series! A new schoolyear and a slightly friendlier and more talkative Komi is here. I keep saying this, but some of Komi’s friends are a bit strange. The gyaru girl was about to irk me at first with her slang, but she turned out all right. I was gonna scream if she said, “this friendship hit different.”

Komi enters a new school year with a new class. Some of the existing characters are still there -- a nice mix of main characters (Tadano and Najimi) and characters who didn't really get as much time to shine in the previous class (Katai and Naruse), while others are in different classes. (We don't see as much of Yamai, which I liked as she was starting to be a bit... much. More than she already was!) And now there are new classmates to befriend! Komi actually initiates a friendship!

Almost sickly sweet this volume. It did help ease in the new characters though! Especially since they are all full of energy.

Komi finally starts to do some things on her own, and there’s a lot less of the rest of the group. Not entirely a bad thing.
