I read volumes 2 and 3 of Prince Freya last year, but I forgot to mark them as read...oops.
Freya is a simple village girl whose foster brothers have joined Prince Edvard against Sigurd. When the prince is poisoned she becomes him to save one of her brothers. Now she’ll have to pretend to be the cunning prince and lead her loyal knights to save Tyr.

*3.5* Artwork is beautiful, but the story is a little messy~
I had to wait a few days before I could pick up volume 3 after the way volume 2 ended. I wasn't prepared for another heartbreak in this volume too. Freya still has a lot to learn but she has come such a long way in just 3 volumes. I love how she's making the role fit for the kind of person that she is while still also trying to be strong for those who are looking to her for support. Definitely, a new favorite series and I can't wait for more.

THE AMOUNT OF SCREAMING AND CRYING I DID WITH THIS VOLUME!!!
If you were devastated by the end of Vol 2, Vol 3 will perk you right up! This volume was intense, like the previous 2, but we also see Freya starting to lead in her own way, and to bring the White Knight to his knees. There is now officially a love triangle that has surfaced within the series, and I am really curious how things are going to go from here.
The political climate of this particular volume was amazing as well. We learn more ...more

I've really been rooting for Prince Freya because in theory it's everything I love in a manga (girl disguised as boy/political intrigue/big battles/hints at romance that aren't the main focus...), but it never hit the right beats to make me fall in love with it. I found the story in this to be gripping, since the entire plot of volume 3 was intense tension and action sequences. Freya continues to grow as a character, and you continue to learn more about Julius, so his character is finally getting fleshed out. (view spoiler) ...more

Prince Freya surprised me. I wasn't sure what to expect but I certainly didn't expect to this consume me as much as it has. I'm not even mad about it.

There's less feels to hurt my heart in this volume, though there's still some feels going on. Here we have an angry Freya, looking for revenge on those who have taken what she loves away from her. She and Julius enter Fort Legen, a small fort filled with inexperienced soldiers, to give them hope so they can hold on until reinforcements can get there. Prince Freya vol 3 sees Freya struggling in the role of Prince Edvard, the Prince of Hope. She has already lost a lot in taking on the role of the prince and her losses see her embracing anger, an understandable but not good look on her. Struggling to rally the soldiers at the besieged Fort Leren and facing impossible odds Freya does her best to uplift the spirits of her countrymen and fight off the Sigurd army all while keeping the secret that she is not the prince.

I'll be honest, I thought that I had read the second one but apparently I didn't??? Which kind of explains why I was confused the entire time I was reading this. Although I did get the feeling that things happened previously that I would not have agreed with anyway.

Volume 3 is probably the strongest read of the series so far. I liked seeing more character development from Freya and watching her find resolve with her choices. I do find her characters a bit baffling, however, as I just don't buy into the idea that she could pull off pretending to be the charismatic Prince Edvard. I'm just not wholly convinced of the story's premise just yet as Freya seems very meek and helpless. When she finds the courage within herself to act, I find myself not really belie

I was only a few pages into this volume when I realized that the design style and intensity reminds me of Requiem of the Rose King, Vol. 1 (obsessed with this series beyond reason), but definitely stands on its own in regards to storytelling and, you know, just being so damn beautiful.

Wow, this was a pretty intense, blood filled volume. I really enjoyed reading how Freya wielded her anger and then her grief, and lastly, her hope. I really am looking forward to the fourth volume, I need to see how Ishihara is gonna top the ending in this volume.

Things are getting good
The story gets more settled and focused this volume. The art continues to be the best part of this series.
Well I can’t wait for the next one :)
