Published in 1988, the book hasn't aged well. The writer continuously refers to the 1980s and the text is filled with specific places to shop that don't exist anymore. It seems like the book was written for a particular moment that also doesn't exist. The writing style is verbose and overly formal. The book is large format and a little unwieldy to handle. My suggestion is to skip the text and just read the captions that go with the pictures; you'll get enough information.
