About the author

Lisa Campbell Ernst was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1957. She received a Bachelor's degree in art from the University of Oklahoma, and then won an internship as a guest editor for Mademoiselle Magazine in New York City. She has written and illustrated over twenty picture books including Stella Louella's Runaway Book, which won the Children's Choice Award in Kansas, and Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt.

Only words show what we're counting, and numbers are only shown as numerals (not words). Each number gets two two-page spreads (one counting up from 1 to 10, one counting down). The same things are counted each time, just at different points in the story.

A counting book that does exactly what the title says. Good for Prek-K who are learning to count.

A simple counting picture book about a group that goes on a picnic and then rain causes everyone to pack up. This has worked well in Toddler Story Times. 6/27/12

This book was about counting up to ten with the items in the story, and then backwards counting back to zero. The counting up was the result of going to a picnic, and then the inclement weather making the items disappear. Great for pre-k and kindergarten.
