I really enjoyed this easy read which is the first of the Hurley Beach Mystery Series by Author Keith Sink. Retired detective Bernie Mariscal assists his sheriff's deputy niece, Sandy, solve the murder of a young woman found on the beach. The death was originally thought to be a suicide but was later changed to murder. I am looking forward to reading the other two books in this series. ...more

I make it a rule to not numerically rate books written by people I know, and I know the author of Spurred to Murder. So, the lack of stars isn't zero stars (the book was good!), rather I'm not rating it at all. Here is a brief review.

Spurred to Murder is a cozy mystery. I didn't know what that really meant before I read the book, and this novel certainly delivers on that front. I was reading about the characters drinking coffee and sitting around and it made me want to brew a pot... at like 10pm
