Though not a recent book, to my knowledge this critical biography of the poet Harry Kemp has not been superseded. William Brevda has admirably met the challenge of expanding a doctoral study into a full critical biography, combining critical analysis with biographical content. Despite hitting some structural shoals, I found this a fascinating read, with its lively account of the birth of Greenwich Village bohemianism and the life of the Provincetown Players.
