Action, suspense, off-planet adventure and a kickass heroine.
I received an early copy of this novel from BookSirens in exchange for a fair review!

I purchased the first Suzy Spitfire a few years ago book solely due to the title – Suzy Spitfire Kills Everybody – and quite enjoyed it. Like its predecessor, the second Suzy book is an exciting action-adventure with protagonists who have clear motivations and fun personalities.

The action scenes in the novel, of which there are many, are always entertaining. Suzy is not some superhero. She is fallible and as suc

I enjoyed the first Suzy Spitfire book but this one I liked even more. I like the science fiction element although it’s not a true science fiction novel so don’t go in with that expectation. It’s sci-fi light! There are spaceships and interplanetary travel with a ton of action. The relationship between her and Ricardo continues with the same humor and chemistry. The addition of the young woman Suzy takes under her wing is great. It’s often touching the way Suzy becomes so fond of her and develop ...more

Another rollicking yarn from Joe. As the story progressed I read a lot faster - will Suzy solve the problem of the Snake eyes, a band of baddies? There were so many threads to the story but Suzy solves them all and gets her man.

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus is a sci-fi novel which centers around one of the journeys of Suzy Spitfire. She’s introduced as a criminal on the run until an official talks to her about a criminal currently stationed in Venus. Suzy is then led into a journey where she meets many friends and foes.

Our heroine must use all her wits and resources to maneuver through her past and future, even avoiding the police, to fight against the formidable target she has. The book is an attention gra

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus; don’t let that mouthful of a title scare you away from this book! I was really surprised to enjoy this as much as I did because I thought it sounded a little ‘out there’ or contrived. Lo and behold I found myself enjoying the story and characters from the very first page. I don’t know if it’s just me, but despite this clearly being a sci-fi story I also got strong crime-noir vibes from it which just made me enjoy it even more. I mean.. it’s some kind of ...more

If you’ve been looking for a good science fiction tale with a strong female lead, don’t look any further than Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus by Joe Canzano. We’re treated to a real hellfire of a woman who can hold her own in a fight but is just as human as the rest of us. She’s a wanted fugitive but she’s going to keep kicking ass and taking names as she scours the universe for a serial killer. The excitement in this second installment might put your heart into overdrive, but it’ll be ...more

Joe Canzano’s ‘Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus’ is a thrilling book that has wild scenes and astounding characters. We follow the adventures of Suzy Spitfire as she kicks those who come on her way while flying around the solar system. Suzy is energetic, sharp and knows how to control situations. The first time I fell in love with the character is when she flew to Venus to look for the brutal serial killer. This was a fun experience as the reader gets to virtually take an incredible rid ...more

Shelves: science-fiction
I picked this Suzy Spitfire by Joe Canzano because I wanted to spice-up my SciFi reading list and, although it was a strong themed book for an HSP like me, I wasn't disappointed. Written in an engaging and fast-paced style, Suzy Spitfire and The Snake Eyes of Venus tells the adventurous tale of Suzy "Spitfire" Castillo, an outlaw who find herself flying to Venus to deal with a serial killer and rapist right when she's determined to change lifestyle. But her flight to Venus will force her to also ...more

If I thought Suzy Spitfire Kills Everybody was a blast, the follow up was a force of nature. Suzy Spitfire Castillo is back and badder than ever- in all the good ways an underdog, action heroine can be.

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus picks up where the first book left off, but there is enough there where a person could get it standalone. That said, I thought it was better in order so all the references to the past took on more significance.

So, Suzy is trying to clean up her act and go

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus by Joe Canzano was a thrilling book.
The cover was a bit much for me, because it blends in with a lot of other sci-fi books, so it wouldn’t have caught my attention. It resembles a video game poster, which isn’t my favorite thing.
Suzy Spitfire seems like a trivial name, but this character is awesome! She is really edgy, driven, and is incredibly intelligent. The way she navigates through difficult or seemingly impossible situations is beyond me. Her wit,

Joe Canzano’s ‘Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus’ is an edgy, action-packed adventure ready-made for today’s ever-fickle YA readers. True to her name, Suzy Spitfire is an outlaw bad girl with a soft spot for the weak and helpless. As the title suggests, the novel takes us to Venus, where Suzy’s bounty hunting has her on the trail of a truly despicable serial killer. With the ‘Snake Eyes’ gang on her tail and a new sidekick under her wing, Suzy quickly finds more trouble than she’d bargai ...more

I always appreciate a well-written female lead and was not disappointed with the titular Suzy Spitfire. She is the right mix of intelligent and badass, which can be a tricky combination to get right without making the character feel like a Mary Sue who is perfect at everything just because they’re special.

I usually don’t indulge in YA books; I am no longer a young adult and find I have less and less in common with that generation. Yet this book felt a bit more sophisticated than typical YA fare.

This story definitely reminded me of my favorite TV show, The 100. Though there are many differences. It's a sci-fi genre story for sure, but instead of a survival story like the 100, this is more of an adventure almost like Lara Croft on Venus. The main character is a bounty hunter (cue The Mandalorian) but this has more of an urban feel to it, like urban fantasy, than the western feel. There is enough mystery and twists to keep the reader engaged and some snarkiness. Some of the scenes involve ...more

This novel starts off fast and doesn't slow down! I found myself gobbling up this one in a matter of days because it was just that good. The author has created a wonderful universe that you can sink right into without questioning the logistics of the place. The city it takes place is in chock-full of details and little hints to the advanced technology that it was very easy to dream it up while I was reading. It’s a hard thing to do in fantasy, and I commend him greatly for it! The hovercars and ...more

Suzy Spitfire is an outlaw who is hunting down a serial killer to avenge the death of her younger sister. Her search leads her to Venus where she suddenly becomes involved with a revolution and a gang war. This sci-fi thriller is action packed and will have readers glued to their seats. Suzy is a strong female protagonist who is a mix of badass and sassyness, similar to Lara Croft. I'm normally not much of a fan of sci-fi but there was so much action in this that it reads more like a crime thril ...more

Though I have not read the first Suzy novel, it was very easy to pick the story up. From the first page I became quickly immersed into the book's universe and the futuristic Sci-fi world in which the story resides. It doesn't waste it's time jumping into the action of Suzy's mission to track down the bad guy.

I really liked Suzy as the heroine of the story and how in the book she grapples with her past and tries to become a better person. She's seen as a hero by some, and a villain by others whic

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Joe Canzano's writing. I jumped at the chance of reading Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus. It's my favorite Canzano book yet.

One of the best things about this book (and Joe's writing) is that I read it with ease. There is no battling with what the environment looks like or any fantastical elements, I can see it clear and take the adventure with the characters.

I have enjoyed this fiction and drama book a lot. It develops from the first page to its last one the futuristic idea of space travels to different planets in our solar system. The story talks about a young woman who travels to another planet chasing a serial killer. Once she arrives

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus, written by New Jersey author Joe Canzano, is a rattling sci-fi thriller that was hard to put down until the satisfying ending.
The main character is a super interesting and strong girl and I kept rooting for her as she put herself in the craziest situations that were truly impossible to predict. The fighting scenes were definitely my favourite ones.

I definitely recommend this book to people who like science fiction and action books and movies. The character development and the description of space landscapes are what I liked the most. The main character, Suzy Spitfire, is great; I think that she is admirable. I did not quite like the way the dialogues are established; but the content of them is something to appreciate. It is not a fast pace book but the action in many chapters is very entertaining.

Packed with danger and intergalactic travel, adventure lovers will definitely enjoy Suzy Spitfire and the Snakeyes of Venus. Author Joe Canzano does an excellent job of writing Suzy’s character without any of the annoying stereotypes that can often be found in adventure novels with a female lead. In particular, the almost maternal quality of Suzy is very endearing and makes the reader root for her success, “For an instant, Kiara opened her eyes and smiled. “It’s all right, Suzy,” she murmured. “

I picked this sci-fi action-packed thriller to read over the weekend, and it delivered more than I expected. It carries a dystopian feel where the protagonist, Suzy, is found running from bounty hunters in intergalactic space ships. Her vengeance comes from a place of love and loss; for her dead sister; Trish. Suzy’s courage and longing for justice is wrapped up in tough armour, adrenaline and a personality that refuses to settle for anything less. The author uses simple, snappy and relatable la ...more

A never ending adventure...

It truly seemed like the adventures never end for our headstrong heroine, and in a good way. Even on the first page we are transported to a hidden world of intrigue, danger and bravery, and the tension is palpable all the way through the book.

I really enjoyed the author's writing style, too, and the way I was made believe that everything will be okay - only to be slapped with a clever twist the next moment.

This was a truly great story that I can only recommend for thos

Interesting Read!

When I came across this title, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I do not usually turn to the sci-fi genre, but sometimes I come across a book that is worth another look. I loved the character, Suzy, and the others that the reader will come across. Suzy in particular was a character I could relate to. Sarcastic wit, driven, she is taken to the next level. Considering that this is a female lead, she is very well written. Quite the page turner as I could not put it dow

Joe Canzano has written a fantastic science fiction novel where he combines mystery, action and adventure. He has given birth to Suzy Spitfire, a powerful character who has captivated me because of her strong will and determination, not to mention her wit and strange humour.
