Murdering humans is a huge no-no and comes with an off-with-your-head sentence. Doesn’t matter if you don’t remember doing the crime.

I killed a human, and no, it wasn’t on purpose, but that shit doesn’t matter to the council. I’m facing death. So, when I’m offered a deal to avoid execution, I’d be a fool not to take it, even if it means leaving the human world and urban li

I’ve hyped myself up for this. And it did not disappoint!

I consider myself a bit of a academy connoisseur by now. I think I’ve read every type there is. None are like this though.
It’s not so much your average school academy as it is military academy.

It’s a school for future Nightwatch guards. The classes are in combat instead of the potion classes in classrooms I've come expect. That means this is action heavy, and that's no bad thing. Just adjust your expectations a little. This is

I don't normally like Academy books for several reasons. Firstly, as a teacher, reading about teenagers in a school is not the sort of escapism I'm after in my books. Secondly, they often include a lot of the tropes that annoy me, unless done very well, and often they're not. The cool guys/King of the school, the bitchy girls, the cheesy's often like watching an American teenage rom com (which I also have to time for - apart from 10 Things I Hate About You' because, come on, Heath ...more

I am not good at reviewing Debbie Cassidy’s books because it’s simply awesome every single time. She’s the Queen of Urban Fantasy RH and it shows.

I loved the first book of The Nightwatch Academy, plain in simple. It’s academy, action packed and a slow burn as Debbie knows to write.

If you are in here for the romance, you will be served but not from the very beginning. That is actually how it goes with her books. They are plot driven before everything but the romance catch up a

Gah! I hate to give a Debbie Cassidy book 3 stars, but...damn, it read like a YA book. It’s gotta be cuz it’s Academy. Indi is 19, and yes, very likable in spite of the immaturity. But the plot needs work. Like every DC book, things move briskly but in a way that feels natural, and “just right.” The romance is a slow burn, which I don’t mind. BUT, when the evil master plan is, I shit-eth thee not, revealed at the 89% mark with a long ass explanation/mea culpa by a side side side side (he has one ...more

There's no way to distinguish Indigo from her cousin Kat. And the sexual thread was honestly wrong.
That said I liked it enough

I’m torn.

I liked it a lot but I didn’t love it.
Kinda like casual dating.
I casually dated this book.

First off,
Explain the world better. I felt like poo for being so confused. Like why can’t they be called shifters instead of moonkissed? It took me an embarrassing amount of time to decipher this. And what the hell is the purpose of this academy again? What do they do if they aren’t marked but still attend the academy? And if they aren’t market WHY can’t they continue on at the academy but other

So I devoured this book in 1 day basically 1 sitting, this is the latest book from my beloved Debbie Cassidy who in terms of RH can literally do no wrong.
This latest academy RH is set around our MC indigo justice who is a night blood (born vampire) and is tricked by her father into going to the night watch academy.

Slow burn 🔥✔️ but it still has SIZZLE. Which kept me dreaming about men in uniforms
Different supes ✔️ some variety
Lack of bullying ✔️✔️✔️ which is honestly so so very refreshi

Indigo Justice is a night-blood (vampire) on a mission. She’s trying to escape the expectations of parents who do not love her. So she takes to fighting in the supernatural pits and working in a bar. But above all she avoids all contact with her parents and avoids going home. Her father decides enough is enough and arranges-AKA blackmails- for her to join the Nightwatch Academy, where supernaturals learn how to police themselves and where the Shadow Knights train to fight against the Fomorians (" ...more

Pre-review thoughts:

- As always, Debbie Cassidy writes well
- The main character is likeable in that she's sarcastic and tough, but not overdone. She has a chip on her shoulder but at least she has a friend she lets her guard down for a bit.
- Stuff happens, it's not a fast burn romance, there's not much insta-l
- I'm curious on future stories and will likely continue
- I like it stays in one POV for this type of story.
- I love the little cat guy
- Side characters are worthy - Minnie's a doll,

Among all the academy books now spreading around, this one certainly stands out.
Not your typical high school drama with some pretty supernaturals thrown in.
This is a serious, kickass UF story full of danger, unusual creatures, and pretty handy tricks coming from special abilities.
Indigo never planned to end up at the Nightwatch Academy. Trying to prove her worth to herself (and her parents), she is a rebellious pit fighter..until a setup marks her as murderer. the deal is clear - execution, or

OMG what can I say, You may think that this is just another Academy book but let me tell you its not by any means a standard Academy book for a start I would say that this is for age 18+ – This is an Academy book Debbie Cassidy style which means a kick ass hard core heroine and starts will full on action. Her first love interest isn’t some gorgeos hunky male model, he’s not a bully or a nerd. He is a battle worn scared war vet who isn’t much older than her with a metal leg.
He doesn’t want a rel

If Selene from Underworld and River from Firefly had a baby sister this would be it! That's how hardcore bad ass our main female heroine Indigo is!! She kicks butt and ask questions later. I freaking love her!!! It was action pack, sassy, bromance, bff's, super powers, LOL moments, and secret "professor crush". Supernatual at its best!! Nightwatch academy kills the things or people that bump at night. say no more, grab this baby!! you will be hooked from start to fi

I was terrified to start this series. I am growing to truly love Debbie Cassidy's work but she very often creates multiple spinoffs in the same world and there are times when I'll get mid series and find out there was a series before and then be all pissed off because I didn't know. I tried to research this one out to see if it was before or after the actual A Ghost of a Chance (The Nightwatch #1) by Debbie Cassidy in which the series is named "Nightwatch." I went ahead and eenie meenie'd it up, real adult like.. ahem, and ended up on this series ...more

I won't lie, seeing that this book was reverse harem gave me some excitement. But I guess this book was just setting that up? I'm eager to see how that plays out in the future.

This book was just exciting.

Yeah, it was short, there wasn't too much explanation, there were a lot of things going on, but it kept me intrigued the whole time. I could not stop flipping the pages.

And yeah there's a fuckton of special snowflake business going on, but I did not even mind because

The frustration is real. There was so many good things about this book. The character development was good for the first book in the series, an amazing strong heroine, an interesting plot and conflict, and it was a great set up for future books. That being said THERE WERE SO MANY GUYS! I could not keep track of them all. Not all of them were in her harem I don’t think, but there were just so many and I could not keep track of them all. What made it even more confusing was that sometimes t

I am not silent about how much of a fan I am of Debbie Cassidy. She is one of my unicorn authors. I have loved every single story. And just when I think she cannot come up with something better, she does. Just when I think I have found my favorite main character, she comes out with her next series, and bam. They are my favorite. It takes a lot of talent to make these stories that grip you, like what Debbie does. She always puts the meat of the story before romance, now don't get me wrong we have ...more

Debbie Cassidy has brought these characters to life and held me completely invested! Indi is such an intriguing character...touch, capable, strong, vulnerable and so needing love, her parents are a$$holes but once she finds her team you really start to see another side of her, and what a team she has! Omg I loved this book amazing storyline and array of characters, Had me hooked from page 1.
Indigo Justice is a 19 year old girl with a bad reputation and a temper to match but that's the way she likes it.

I have to admit I’m not a big academy/YA/NA genre fan. I think this is mostly because I have teens of my own and dealing with some of that angsty teen drama is not for me. However, I knew that this author would do a great job anyway, and I was right. Indigo is young without being immature which I can appreciate and like. One of her love interests is also very appealing, and he isn’t a teen so he doesn’t have the issues teens can have. OK, he’s kinda hot. Not only that, I love that he has a prost ...more

If you like a good Academy story then this is definitely a story for you. Indigo doesn’t conform to the norm, but after killing a human she is sent to the Academy as punishment instead of going to trial. The Academy is the last place she wants to be but it’s better than the alternative.

She doesn’t want friends, she doesn’t even want to be there and she takes a very lazy approach to classes but when a plot twist strikes everything could change for Indigo.

The boys in this story are definitely ho

All over the shop

I loved the blurb but the author rushed the first half of the book and suddenly it’s incredibly formulaic, our MC develops special powers and she’s the only one allowed into the Shadow knights etc etc.
It’s all a bit of a mess and needs editing and going over. Characters act out and it’s a bit disappointing. I was hoping for more.

I love Debbie Cassidy.... she just has a way of wrapping a tale that livens up the entire narrative, while still infusing just the right shade of darkness. Delightful! And while this may be an academy read, It’s different from the thrush of offerings amazing in the market. It’s a whole new world.

- Well written.
- Great Characters!
- Justice is bad@ss but still startlingly vulnerable, it’s a delicate balance and Cassidy pulls it off well.
- Hyde..... oh yeah.

- Minor editing

This is the third academy book I’ve read this year, but as usual Debbie Cassidy always knows how to write an awesome story! The story’s main character Indigo comes from a Legacy family, but has struck out on her own, to avoid her life at home, from parents who are nothing but disappointed in her for being born the wrong gender. After her father sets her up to kill a human and be sentenced to prison, her only alternative is to join the academy. I loved every part of this story and cannot wait to ...more

Surprisingly good for an academy book.

Heroine isn't TSTL, there was chemistry but not insta-love in the books... besides from one girl, there were no bully girls or whatever else goes on in these types of books.

Lots of fighting, action, good pace. It kept my attention and I stayed up until 2 am trying to finish it. It was a good book during my long reading slump...

After finishing, I immediately looked for book #2.

MC was annoyed at the fact that she couldn't burn through daddy's money just to tick him off. And that made her seem privileged and out of touch with reality.

But that impression was so wrong. She is a strong yet lonely but fierce heroine. Confident and sometimes cocky but in a good way. The story has everything that I want in a RH. An actual story that I can get into aside from just the romance.

Big fan of the author!
