Kinky Bottom #1

Bossy Bottom

Rate this book
Luke:
Being a submissive guy with anxiety isn’t easy. I’d be tied up in situations and then feel the mind avalanche begin, helplessly watching as it would tumble out of control and ruin the moment.
Then I met Adam: A handsome police officer who swept me off my feet and out of my boring life. He’s got a dominating, authoritarian personality but carries a quiet gentleness with him everywhere he goes. Just being around him keeps my anxiety at bay.
And better yet, he’s into the same things I’m into. He wants to show me his playroom…

Adam:
My whole world felt like it stopped the second I saw that angelic man in the bookstore. When I saw the name of the book he was carrying, it told me everything I needed to know.
Once I got to know Luke, I learned that his past partner was a bully in the bedroom — and not the fun kind.
It’s up to me to show him how amazing and tender a real dominant can be. The only problem is, he’s bossy. Even though I’m the one giving the commands, he knows that he’s the one in control.
Luckily I have a few kinky tricks up my sleeve…

**This is an 80,000+ word romance novel about 2 men in a relationship. It’s a standalone novel with no cliffhanger, no cheating, and HEA guaranteed. Readers can expect several extra spicy scenes that would make a ghost pepper jealous.

This book wasn't what i expected based on the title and precis, definitely was thinking be more kink focus and steam. However saying that i still enjoyed this story and was a rather sweet entertaining read.

One of my favorite aspects here is how presented anxiety and panic attacks, felt very realistic and discussed in such a great way. It's a part of Luke's life and who he is, so i loved that wasn't overlooked or seen as easily fixed. That always still there in back of mind even if seems irrational and so that was handled amazingly thoughout. Also enjoyed that Adam looked into ways to help and support him, along with his own history.

The romance is rather insta attraction and fluffy feels, there is of course the kink element and some steamy scenes. I did find their relationship so cute and fun though, the uncertainty and development of trust between them was wonderful.

I will say there is a bit too much over the top drama at times and angst, seemed like had so many ideas and stuff to explore however not enough time to develop any of them completely. Such as past relationships impacts on Adam and Luke, also Lukes mum and the side characters.

Just was a variety of themes that didn't get to be fully explored so fell flat at points, although i adored the conclusion with Luke and his mother that was really well done. I did like the progress in Luke and Adams relationship, with the ending especially and handling of Kirk im glad was resolved in such a way.

Overall i did like this story and the writing is good, despite some inconsistencies but easily able to get past. I loved the ending! Adorable and lovely look towards the future, so will be interested to read the sequel xx

Lots of typos and continuity errors- one of the MCs was calling someone and said she'd just be waiting for her kid to get out of school and then greeted the woman by asking how her Saturday was, a conversation about how alone Luke felt in his family that mentioned his sister and a few chapters later Adam asked him if he was an only child, there was an absurd scene at the end where Adam arrested someone an hour away from where he works as a cop?

Beyond that, the story was mediocre. It felt really focused on mental issues without feeling realistic, between the panic attacks and how quickly Luke gained confidence and the way bipolar disorder was portrayed... It just fell flat for me.

I read an excerpt before buying the book and I was a bit on the fence already then but I gave it the benefit of the doubt because it promised something more.
It held some angst as I thought it would lead somewhere, and it kept me going through a too fast developing relationship, from nothing to everything over a week. That is quickly to get past most of ones trust issues.
There was inconsistencies and an overuse of the word super, and while some authors seem like they live in thesaurus, others need to visit it.

From the blurb and start of the book it gave the idea that it would involve a good deal of kink and a rather hefty part hurt. Up to my ending it, it was very light on the kink and I didn't truly feel Luke's hurt.

I started struggling at about 49% and giving up at 64%, it could have been so much more than it became.
It might be harsh but it didn't leave me wanting to see how it ends because I didn't end up caring for the characters.

H.O.L.E. 3.0

Let me start with what an amazing job the author did with mental health issues. Anxiety, panic, attacks are not used here as a plot device, but to deepen our understanding of why characters act the way they do. On that alone my H.O.L.E. is 4.75. So realistic to anyone who knows someone with this affliction—well done author.

That said so many places in this book author makes same mistake over and over. Couple A just decided to divorce and now they are ex spouse—no at best the next day they are separated. Once I could handle, but....

Some characters felt very cliche. The woman at the bar. The brother. And Mom. Felt very one note...

If this author’s first book, I am amazed. Author has some real talent—just needs to be more cognizant of character development.

I just couldn't get into this. It had potential but it quickly went from an intriguing set up with chemistry at first sight to both characters pining and obsessing over each other and their intense connection when in actual fact they'd barely spoken to each other. The leap was too big and unbelievable for me, characters gushing about the connection they have doesn't sell it to me, I need a little more interaction betwee them to convince me. In the end I realised I was skimming it to try and find something that spoke to me and I just gave up.

Meh

I wanted to like this story and it started off pretty good but it just got more and more boring as I went on

I like that the author wanted to deal with mental health issues but it was like let’s just throw some of everything into the book and have a heap of people have different mental health issues. It just seems to detract from the main story.

And seriously Luke’s Dad and Adams brothers wife cheat together and then Luke’s mum and Adams brother end up together it’s ridiculous

I’m sure there are plenty of people who will enjoy this story but it was not for me

Heartwarming and sweet!

Loved this, good read. Very sweet characters who I fell in love with very quickly. If you want a fluffy read with all the happy emotions from a new budding relationship, and some good spice—this is for you.

This book also tackles some very difficult mental disorders as well, and there a several story plots that come together at the end.

It does have some errors mainly in missing different punctuation and some very minor story sentence mixups—this threw me off occasionally, but nothing at all crazy that stopped me from enjoying the book!

Loved it

I did live this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book. It was sweet sexy and I think maybe they found their other halves . I did not Luke that there was so much guessing on both their parts instead of just straight up asking or talking , I also don't like that he was talking to Brain and we never show how that was dealt with . it felt unfinished to me

This was not the book for me. Definitely needs editing and the drama could drop a lot. It was like reading about pre-teens when they were supposed to be twenty and thirty-two. I might give the author another try if they got some decent editing and pre-readers, but I have the feeling that isn't going to happen.

I enjoyed this book, more than I expected after reading the reviews (but maybe that is what prepared me for the couple of inconsistencies). Overall, I found it entertaining and was able to enjoy both the MC's and their romance. Looking forward to the 2nd book.

A love story, a realization of everything.

Jeremy Jenkins has brought a silent malady into the light. Showing how common anxiety attacks are in the real world.
Written with love and compassion entwined throughout, this book is enchanting and joy filled.

I enjoyed Adam a lot, especially his love for Luke. Luke on the other hand was a bit much. I feel like this wasn’t the best representation for bipolar or anxiety. I did enjoy Adam spoiling Luke. Overall, I needed more redeeming qualities for Luke. 2/5 spice levels.

What a cute book

Anxiety is real and triggers you don't realize.... To have a over anxious mom is not helping But to meet a man who understands and loves you and helps is wonderful

4 stars ! New to me author.
A story where being human is okay. Where love, growth, believing in life and yourself brings you forward. Give it a try, you won't regret it !

Very light BDSM

With a title like "bossy bottom" I'd think there would be more than just three short scenes of kink. The book was mostly about mental disorders of all kinds and how the characters dealt with them.

This author definitely could have used a better editor. A lot of grammatical does. Especially towards the end. Almost like they just gave up caring, really. Oh, and the over use of exclamation marks. Good Lord there must have been a thousand. It was annoying. There wasn't a lot of constancy either. Like Adam already knew Luke had a sister, then a few chapters later asked Luke if he was an only child. Things like that really ruin a good story for me.

Good story with some Power exchange

This is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this story. This is an age Gap story about to men who each deal with their own sad past. As they start to come together,. They deal with lost loves, loneliness, anxiety, an abusive ex and a helicopter Mom.
This book ends in a HEA but I could see another story for these two as they move to New York.

It wasn't paced properly it was written with the tone that something was bad was about to happen but nothing ever did. The drama was so anti-climatic I felt cheated of the drama. The sex was good and the chemistry between the characters was good. One minute Jake was interested in the bar owner and now it's him and Sarah, like how?

Warm Fuzzies

Luke and Adam gave me the warm fuzzies. I wanted more bdsm elements in the playroom like Adam using the suspension thingy in the ceiling but sadly didn't get it. This was my first book by Jeremy Jenkins and it kept me engaged throughout but I like more hurt/comfort in my books. I would recommend this book and will definitely read more by this author.

This definitely felt like it needed a good edit. There were a ton of typos, and some of the plot line just didn’t make any sense. I thought it had the potential to be good, but it just wasn’t refined enough. It felt very repetitive as well.

I enjoyed the story quite a bit, but the erotic details were too light during the kink scenes. I think there should have been more focus on the erotic.
