This is a novel about the 1912 West Virginia Mine Wars. The miners were in danger every day when they went below ground but were barely making enough to survive and feed their families. The mine owners were living the life of luxury and didn't care what the miners had to put up with as long as their money kept rolling in. In 1912, the miners carried out a strike and the owners threw them out of their company owned shacks and threatened their lives to get them back to work.

The strike is shown th

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You could call this book a great surprise. It surprised me in how much I really enjoyed everything from the characters to the storyline. Ms. Collins really brought to life this story. The heroine is Ellie.

She faced many difficult adversities. Yes, with each one she came out stronger and with more fight. I felt for Ellie. She just wanted to be loved but she fell for the wrong men. Yet, I was behind Ellie the whole time as her cheerleader.

Blood Creek by Kimberly Collins is primarily about The West Virginia Coal Mine Wars. The rich coal mine owners hired Baldwin-Felts Detective Agency to keep the miners from striking. This led to violence on Paint Creek and Cabin Creek with the United Mine Workers of America and the strikers in April 1912.

Updated with new review.

This one starts out with two people cheating on their spouses and I have to say that this situation really didn't grab me as I don't really condone that type behavior. But after that situation went from bad to worse I have to say that this book started pulling me in. This title uses both fiction and actual historical events to tell this amazing story through the eyes of the strong women from that time. At first I thought I was going to DNF this one but I realized that it

Ellie was a woman far ahead of her time. She is not settled with the status quo. She wants more to life than what society will give her. In West Virginia, she fears all she'll ever have is that cabin she lives in with her husband. Then something changes - her husband commits a crime, she gets pregnant, and her lover is dead. What will she do?

When she gets the chance to leave for Charleston, it's the chance to leave it all behind. Then the old saying comes around, "No matter where you go, there y
