I never thought my perp walk would lead to true love.

Then again, I never thought I’d be arrested on RICO charges and hauled away in zip ties on camera for the world to see, minutes after closing the most amazing deal of my career.

And all of it in front of my biggest rival, billionaire wunderkind Ian McRory.

I am broke.

I am disgraced.

I am alone.

I am a sucker.

But the worst part? I have to go back to my hometown and live in my bedroom filled with relics from my childhood.

Lisa Frank never made me so mad before.

Just when I needed a rescue, I got one — in the form of help from my biggest rival.

He can’t bring back my money.

He certainly can’t bring back my reputation or my pride.

But there’s one thing he can bring back to me.

A sense of hope.

Maybe even love.

Ian sees something in me no one else does, and he’s relentless about making me see it, too. As we grow closer, I’m starting to see that while my entire life used to be a lie, the truth is staring me in the present — and it’s a truth I like very, very much, hot eyes and gorgeous smile and all.

But I have to be careful.

I can’t be too —

That’s right.

Hasty.

The final book in the USA Today bestselling Do-Over Series (Fluffy, Perky, Feisty), as Mallory's sister, Hastings "Hasty" Monahan gets her turn at a happily ever after that starts off with an arrest.

Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 5 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French, German, and Italian, with more titles releasing in the future.

From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire in a rom com).

More author reviews for HASTY!!!

"When I pick up a Julia Kent book, I know I'm going to enjoy it like I enjoy fine, eight-month aged manchego cheese or a brilliantly executed Hasty pudding. Her newest book, Hasty, is the capstone for the Do-Over series, a lovely series of second-chance romances where four friends have a chance to do over their life mistakes and do the guys who got away. Hastings "Hasty" Monahan has soared the highest by her own standards, which means she has the farthest to fall, and fall she does. Hasty is that character who you love to hate in the beginning, and then she works so hard and does so much that you have to love her by the end and you're so glad you went along for the ride. The ending is like fine cheese: robust, pleasantly salty, with sharp and witty notes, amusing on the palate, and entirely delicious. The series that started with Little Miss Perfect has ended with four perfect love stories." ~ USA Today bestselling author Blair Babylon

“You will laugh your buns off before Hasty finally gets her sweet revenge. Every woman needs her own Ian McCrory!” ~ USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen

"Hot. Hilarious. Outrageous. Where else could zip ties and sheep cheese merrily coexist except a Julia Kent rom com?" JJ Knight, USA Today bestselling author

"Julia Kent is my go-to author when I want to laugh, swoon and just feel oh-so-good as I get lost in a romance! Hasty delivers on all those fronts!" ~ #1 New York Times Bestseller Lauren Blakely

"Hasty was the perfect antidote to 2020--utterly adorable and deliciously satisfying." -- USA Today Bestselling Author Melanie Harlow

"From the very first page of Hasty, I knew I was in for a ride. I felt as if I were seeped into the character's lives, feeling second-hand embarrassment and frustration as their paths crossed. I adored this book and I cannot wait to dive into another Julia Kent romance!" ~ New York Times Bestselling Carrie Ann Ryan

“I love Hasty so much! I will never not smile every time I think about Hastings Monahan, her epic fall from the top, moving back home with her parents, her ex, and the cow thing. Bonus, Ian McCrory is a total swoon fest of a hero. Ten thousand stars!” ~ USA Today Bestselling Author Pippa Grant

“Holy rabbit milk cheese! Julia Kent is the only author capable of making me laugh my lady parts inside out! Hastings, is a heroine after my own heart. The things that come out of that woman’s mouth are pure *chef’s kiss.* I promise you Julia saved the best for last in this series!”— Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Nana Malone

Like the previous book in the series, I feel lukewarm feeling. Nothing special or memorable. The comedy is so so. Or maybe I do not connect well with the sense of humor in Hasty.

Miss Kent is a rom com writer. From what I read in Goodreads, the reviews have been mixed. Some love it, some, like me, found this series so so.

I want to see more depth on the characters and the plot. I do like Hasting. She is career driven character.

Overall, so so reading.

It's OK to take it easy...

While I really enjoyed listening to Hasty, I found myself observing Hasting like she's an alien creature. I do not get workaholic, career-focused people who seem to be absolutely oblivious to their emotionless existence. I mean I get wanting to make a name for yourself and working towards your goals, but not at the expense of happiness or emotional fulfilment. It was also foreign to me that Hasting found taking the easy path abhorrent. Why would you willingly take the hard way? Poor Hasting took the hard way and let work overtake everything... and when it's all taken away, she realises it's time to reassess her life.

This is a story about getting to know yourself, accepting that easy isn't bad and learning to appreciate the people you love, who you've spent years pushing away to get ahead in your career. Luckily, Hasting's family loves her even though she's less than nice to them. When you really hit rock bottom, you soon learn who you can trust to have your back. In Hasting's case, surprisingly, her 'enemy' ends up being the person who helps her the most.

I have to admit that Hasting and Ian do not come across as a perfect match initially. She's doing her usual pushing people away, and he comes across as being a bit two-faced. As time goes on, the sparks start flying and it's obvious that Ian has had feelings for Hasting for a long time.

Just a heads up... there was about 2.5 seconds when I thought Ian was a DOUCHEWAFFLE of EPIC PROPORTIONS! In some ways, I think Hasting forgave him a little too quickly. He was doing the right thing, and he was doing it for her benefit... BUT... it still felt like a betrayal.

Erin Mallon does a fantastic job narrating and I really enjoyed her portrayal of the characters. She's very easy to listen to.

I'm a wee bit sad that the Do-Over series is finished. I was kind of hoping that Will's sister, Veronica (I think?) was getting her own story.

If you're looking for a humorous, sweet and sexy series, I highly recommend giving the Do-Over series a go.

I have read all of the books in this series. But Hasty is by far my favorite. Being Mallory's sister she has appeared before and I wondered just how Julia Kent was going to turn Hastings Monahan into a likeable character. The best thing is she didn't really change her. Through a series of mishaps Hastings becomes a more all around person. With a lot of help from rival Ian McCrory, Hastings (don't call her Hasty) learns to like herself a lot more. This was very well written, wonderful characters and a very believable story.

4.25 stars. Goodreads, yep- you deleted my review again. Someone in your IT dept needs to work this out. Maybe BookBub could take over. Their website is awesome.
RE: Hasty. I listened to the audio. Narrated by Erin Mallon. She did ALL the voices. This is 1st person POV.
- Well. I'll just say a couple of words. Great Job Julia, Hasty kept me interested all the way through.
Hasty has had a reputation for being a bitch, even in her hometown.
She's been a type A person. Her career has always come first. She's really smart but has made a huge mistake trusting her husband Burke. He really throws her under the bus. Hasty needs to rethink her goals and get back on her feet. She comes back home & stays with her parents. Everyone knows a version of what happened.
The Cowtherine birthing scene was really funny. Ian is swoony & very patient with Hasty. What did he see in her? I was dying to know. It does get explained and there is a twist with that too.
All of the supporting character are great. I loved the cheese reference. I need to get some Manchego after all this!
Congrats to Erin Mallon -her newest bundle of joy! You are Wonder Woman. Writing , narrating and now you have a real live new little one!
I loved all the books in this series. I love Julia Kent's humor. If you like this one, I highly recommend reading the previous books too. 4.25 stars

If you've been following along with the series, Hasty needs no introduction. While this will read as a standalone, knowing Hastings/Hasty's backstory will make it a richer reading experience. Though, there is one problem with that... this is very much Hasty's story, and I don't actually like Hasty all that much. It's all about her personal growth, told completely from her perspective, and our hero appears in probably less than 20% of the book (even less while acting as a romantic lead). That's been my biggest complaint of the series as a whole; the writing is very good, the storylines are complex and completely unique, but the heroes may as well be acquaintances for the amount of time they spend on the page.

The story follows Hastings (aka Hasty), a woman who has been so focused on her career that she's let it overtake her life. Her relationships with her family are strained and her marriage has become all about the money. So when a financial scandal ends her marriage and leaves her reeling, Hasty is forced to reevaluate everything that's important to her. Through it all, there's one man who has kept in contact. Ian has been Hasty's biggest rival in business, but he's proven to be her biggest ally in life.

There's a lot that I liked, and I think that if Ian had played a larger role in the story then I probably would've loved the book. It's an interesting mix of light comedy and dark humor; not nearly as raunchy as some of the other books in the series, but probably one of the heaviest. I loved the journey Hasty goes on, but I also needed more than that. Ian is a part of the story from start to finish, but always in the background. His motives are unclear for the vast majority of the book, and he honestly could've been dating other people for 80% of it, for all we know. There are significant time jumps and extended separations so... who knows what he was thinking. That's my biggest problem here. I can't root for a relationship when I don't love the heroine and the hero is largely absent. I do love the creativity and originality of the series - that's what kept me reading every book - but I won't say that this was my favorite. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review of this darkly funny book.

Hasty by Julia Kent made me stop and think about life. About friendship, family and true happiness. And that shows how much impact this story had on me. A entertaining and witty romance with a very important and life changing message about self love, Hasty was an absolute treat for my romantic heart.

Hastings aka Hasty always wanted to reach the top. Beyond her small town home. Beyond her seemingly less achieving sister. And she became the most recognisable powerhouse of finance world with her husband. Till he is exposed for one of biggest fraud in history of USA and she loses everything. Money. Social status. Reputation. Her identity. She comes back to her hometown and is trying so hard to find her place. Her once arch nemesis Ian is adamant to hire her and she doesn't know if she should trust him. Why is Ian helping her? Will Hasty find a new life?

The minor and negligible issue I had with this story is it was entirely from Hasty's POV. I was dying for some chapters from Ian's POV! But, again, it's understandable because this is essentially Hasty's story. Everyone thinks she is a snobby, judgemental, overachiever, workaholic and bitter person. And that's not entirely false. She pushed for success so hard that she ended up pushing away her near and dear ones. My heart breaks for her lost life, her frustration, the injustice and the overall degradation. But I am so proud of our girl! Did she bounce back or what? Julia Kent used humor and sarcasm to bring the deeper pain and loneliness alive. It was unique and effective. I may be laughing and smiling at the odd and awkward situations Hasty finds herself. But I could also feel the underlying personal struggle to build up a new Hasty. Of course we needed a white knight for her. But not the one who shields and rescues. But the one who challenges her and forces her out of her comfort zone to be better. To nurture, not control. To cherish, not destroy. To love, not pity. And Ian did exactly that with his charm, honesty, silent strength and sweetness with sinful sexiness. The chemistry was amazing. But again, this was essentially a journey of a broken and lost person to real happiness. And I bet so many of us will identify parts of ourselves in Hasty!

Julia Kent's brilliant and sharp writing made Hasty a special kind of romance. Where we learn to love ourselves, accept our weaknesses and finally find true love. Hasty was funny, flirty and swoony. But the depth and intensity of emotions gave it that extra edge. To stand apart.

Julia Kent delivers another laugh out loud story for us to devour.

I have to be honest, Hastings is not a very lovable character. I was definitely intrigued with her and how Kent would make me like her. It took me awhile to discover her redeeming qualities but they’re there, I promise. She is who she is and it takes us a little bit to get a deeper look but once we do, there’s an understanding. As she grew, my feelings about her grew too.

The story pulled me in with this one. Hastings’ life was a complete and utter mess. I had to know how things would improve for her and was pleasantly surprised with the direction her journey took. Then add in the romance, Ian was a great character and the chemistry between the two was evident. The relationship was a slow burn. I liked that aspect, I found it fitting to the character and to the story. The tension it created was scrumptious!!

I absolutely loved this series and the fact that it’s set in Massachusetts, where I’m from, makes it even more fun!!

My mark of a great writer is one who can totally change my mind about a character that I don't like, to one that I admire. Julie Kent masterfully accomplishes this feat in this book about the rise and fall of Hastings Monahan, Fluffy's, aka Mallory's, sister. When we first met Hastings at Mallory's wedding dress fitting, she makes everyone in the wedding party feel they are beneath her social standing since they all stayed in their small town of Anderhill rather than branching out to a big city like San Francisco. She ends up with more than egg on her face when she's forced to return home, penniless and humiliated, after suffering through a huge scandal caused by her husband. Unlike the other books in this series, this one spends a lot of necessary time watching Hastings try to (re)define herself outside of her once successful career in finance, which she must do before she can confront any type of relationship with our Hero, and her arch-rival, Ian McCrory. Our author takes her time rebuilding Hastings by having her repair relationships with her family and friends, especially with Mallory. Through their interactions, readers also see a deeper side of Mallory and her best friend Persephone (aka Perky), which normally doesn't occur in series books not centered on their respective characters. I truly appreciated this additional insight as it provided greater depth to their relationships.

When Hastings finally opens the line of communication to Ian, the journey to their relationship is slow, then suddenly interrupted. The reasons become clear in the end, but will Hastings allow herself to choose the easy route or wait on her HEA? Loved the way this ended...I hope we get a novella somewhere down the line to see how Fluffy, Perky, Feisty and Hasty are doing 5 years from now!

Hasty is an uptight, condescending, snooty bitch. It’s her “personality”. I kept waiting for her to get better, but nope. She would apologize then her thoughts the next moment would go back to being a stuck up bitch.

And it’s kind of hard to have a romance book where the Hero is barely in it. Maybe 20% or less he made an appearance? And when he appeared he was basically stalking Hastings. No connection was formed. What did Ian even see in her? Her personality is a dumpster. 🚮

This final book in the Do-Over series is bittersweet to me!  I loved all these books and this final story of Hastings (the gal you loved to hate) and Ian was fabulous.

Ms. Kent has the writing chops to take a character that seemed to have no redeeming qualities in the previous books and brought your thinking around. Not only did Ms. Kent make Hasty redeemable, but also admirable.

Ian is just a true knight in stellar armor! He is a financial wunderkind and likes to do things on the down-low.  Like helping Hastings when she feels like there is no one left.

The sparks between Ian and Hasty are hotter than the hinges on hades gate! I loved the directness of both of them, it was refreshing to read.

I loved the twists and turns that this story took.  This was a fast-paced read for me that I couldn't put down until the end.  And what a beautiful ending it was, to the story and to the series!

The first three books of Julia Kent’s Do-Over series are filled with quirky, fun, lovable women—except for one: Hastings “Hasty” Monaghan, the mean, ridiculously successful, endlessly snarky older sister you can’t help but hate.

In her book, though, we finally see a side of Hastings that makes us appreciate not only who she is but what made her that way.

Hastings Monahan is a financial success. She has just signed the biggest deal of her career when her world is turned complete upside down, ending what should have been the best evening of her life in handcuffs instead of champagne. What does the girl on top do when she’s thrust, ever so inelegantly, straight to the very bottom?

“Semantics matter, Ian. Definitions matter. People matter. I think I lost sight of that at some point.”

Heading back home to Anderville, Mass with her tail between her legs, Hastings has to fight against who she was and how that person no longer meshes with who she can and should be. Her biggest supporter, the very charming and successful Ian McCrory, is more than willing to help her forge a path to success, but Hastings has to decide whether or not to accept the help or do it all on her own.

“Hasty” is a rewarding twist on a classic story—take your typical “rags to riches” plot line and flip it on its head. Add in the fact that for three books, Hasty was the character you loved to hate. While it was in some ways satisfying to see her get her due, it’s even more satisfying to grow along with her in her journey of becoming a better person.

What I love about Julia Kent’s writing is that it isn’t just sexy, funny, and contemporary; it’s smart. Amid humor and lightheartedness, there is a great deal of depth that is poignant but also refreshing.

All in all, “Hasty” was the perfect final installment to this fantastic series.

Hastings is Mallory's sister, she is smart, successfull leading a whirlwind life in California with her husband Burke. One day when she reaches the pinnacle of success, it all comes tumbling down, her life has she knows it is over. Somehow her husband defrauded a lot of people and implcated her along with his scheme. Broken and defeated the only option she has is to return to her parents house and small town life. Hasty's journey to redemption and enlightment has her struggling with herself and coming to some deep realizations about her past life and actions. Her only constant in this mess is Ian McCrory, ever present billionaire trying to help her with her new reality. A magnificent ending to this series, the girls will have you laughing out loud at their shenanigans and their caring souls come through the whole story. I volunteered to review this arc.

So this book first of all made me really hungry for cheese. Manchego cheese, a type I hadn’t tried, to be specific. As a huge fan of cheese, I mean my whole family makes fun of me for it, I’m a little surprised I hadn’t tried it before. But I bought it the other day and plan to try it now!

Okay, more about the actual book and story. First of all, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to like Hasty, or Hastings as she prefers to be called. I mean she just wasn’t very nice in her sister Mallory or any of the other books in this series. But, Hasty definitely grows through the story, and I got to see just why she acted the way she did. Part of it was just her, but part of it had to do with her husband. And Ian, wow, you gotta love Ian! And when there was the twist at the end, the reason he had told her it wasn’t her, it was him, I actually don’t know why I didn’t see that coming! But I didn’t! So it was perfect.

As with the others in the series the side characters are so much what makes the story complete and so much extra! First Raul, you have to love Raul. And then there was the reference back to the urine perimeter from Feisty, which you should really read, I can’t explain it and give it the justice it deserves. Not to mention the cow birthing scene in this one.

A perfect book to wrap-up this series, and a wonderful series that introduced me to a new favorite author that I’m now catching up on all her books I’d missed!

I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever!! But good things come to those who wait!! Oh my!! It was a non stop, laugh out loud, sweet and sexy read! Hasty was the 4th book in Julia’s Do-Over series. It can be read as a stand-alone but you will be missing out on lots of laughs if you don’t check out the others!!

Hastings (Hasty) was on top of the world, she had just made the biggest deal of her career. Unfortunately, that high was short lived when she was taken away in handcuffs for a crime she didn’t commit. Ending up with nothing, she had no choice but to move back home into her childhood bedroom. Talk about mental whiplash!

Ian had watched Hastings from afar. When she needed help, he didn’t hesitate to step in, but at what costs? Would he ever be able to get past the icy exterior life had created for her? Would being at an all time low make her walls higher or start knocking them down?

Seriously, I laughed so many times! I was in tears over “chicken cheese”. I won’t give anything away, but I had to stop reading for a minute to gather myself!! I was not a fan of Hasty during the previous books but she certainly redeemed herself! I think this was my favorite book of the series!! Not only was it swoonworthy but it had a great message - even if you are knocked down, don’t be afraid to get up, dust yourself off, and make a new life!!

HASTY

Read it here

AN ALL-NEW STANDALONE FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIA KENT

Hasty.

The final book in the USA Today bestselling Do-Over Series (Fluffy, Perky, Feisty), as Mallory’s sister, Hastings “Hasty” Monahan gets her turn at a happily ever after that starts off with an arrest.

Hers.

And ends with a surprisingly cheesy happily ever after.

5 Finding-your-Better-Self Stars⭐
This was a Lovely combination of Deep, Funny, Thrilling & Hope! Hasty was such a bitch in previous books, I was eager to see her downfall *Evil laugh* Her personality development throughout the story, made me fall in love with her! Ian's so..WOW! PERFECT FOR HER😉 I DEVOURED this story in a few hours❤
“Ian McRory is a walking clinché. He's hot. He's Rich. He's Smart. He's Charming.
And he's alpha to the Core.”-Hastings

I hate Burke! Due to his illegal Frauds, She lost her all, everything Seized. Now she founds she wasn't his legal wife.. *Ouch!*
When she came back home (a month after) it was a whirlwind of pity, anger, bitchiness, sobs (+ Mall's Wedding Preparation!).. she saw her life through new eyes, analysing all the hollowness in it... Finally talking feelings with her family! *Apologies* It's Beautiful❤

In the time of need, Ian helped her..now pursuing her to take his Job. Not pity. She's THAT good! (she takes it, after much thought, to prove herself..) They have been enemies for years, the Sexual Tension ever so present. No one crossed the line then..But Now, they've got the chance! *HOT!*

Things were soo progressing! But then he has to go to Australia for 4 months (Immediately after the wedding).. Is it the end? No, a Milestone. Cue messaging+FaceTime.

The Real thing is always better, so when he comes back 3months later *Early!* Their Reunion Is sexy, hot and soo them!
But then Burke's Call came, Revealing a Secret.
Will he be Caught? OR Succeed?
Btw, Why was Ian in the Restaurant at the time When Hasty was caught?

Sometimes easy's so underrated. But Sometimes you have to take the hard way. For love. Take risks. Why? 'Cause It's worth it. Always.

Loved these:

We see a lot of the parents, Will & Mall, all the gang. I was pleasantly surprised! There's lotta bickering, M-P-F-H Feelings deep talk too..(Hot-Spring Gathering!) It was surreal. We find the real reason of her being bitchy to Mall (After the wedding rehearsal!) I'm so happy for them, Their relation is realigning❤. Hasty's forming a friendship with Mall, Perky, Fiona!

Ian's determination is hot! Messages, cafe visits. Through cow-birthing-scene (omg!), the DANCE! Studio I.e. Her app-Date disaster, Bachelorette party, The wedding. their feelings growing..

Everything related to the wedding was gorgeous, Hilarious too *Snicker* Expected! I'm so happy for Mall+Will❤

We see Hasty's Friends! (Eric's great!) She's got a hobby too, Cheese making! It becomes a passionate business for her, Alongside her job For Ian. I understand Her ambition..

The ending was great(Burke got what he deserves, that bastard!)
The epilogue was phenomenal❤ His proposal was swoony!

This series has been a saga of Friendship, Hope, Scandals *Chuckle*, Love, Fun, Feelings.. Hasty's story was a fantastic way to end it! Everyone-Especially our gang-Will have a Special place in my heart❤

Hasty was seen the golden child according to her sister Mel. However the Hasty we met in this book is far from that. She having a crisis and she about to live up to her nick name in the most spectacular way when her world comes crashing down.

Hasty has always been quick to make her a move to benefit herself and discard everyone in a heartbeat. So when her bank account her life line is demolished and she can only look to her archrival for help. I don't know how this Hasty girl was going to cope .As it was always about the money she made , not others. She was all about empowering herself only

Hasty is a redemption story , revaluation on life and releasing what is truly important. Having a do-over maybe the best move that Hastings make as it makes her likeable . Whilst this isn't heavy on the humour and the romance like the other three books in the story. There is a reason why. Hasty was pictured by everyone as unlikable Even Mel had unflattering words about her when she was happy and that spoke a lot to me. We conditioned to think her about this way. SO when it comes to her story, I really wanted her to have a true romance discover what a do-over does. She revamps herself into a better person but Ian was there the whole time and I wished he was more active in the picture whilst Hasty was on this journey.
It's not the ending to this series I hope for and I wished there was little more wit and humor that other books had in spades.

3.5 stars!

AUDIOBOOK

Hasty is the 4th book in Julia Kent’s Do-Over Series. This started off strong. I found myself addicted to the story immediately and I couldn’t stop listening.

Hastings “Hasty” Monaghan is the sister of Mallory Monaghan (whom we met in Fluffy) she believed herself to be off doing better things than being stuck in their small hometown. She has a successful career and a husband she loves. Until it is all ripped away and she is knocked right off her pedestal of social status. She does not have one cent to rub together and finds herself in handcuffs and her husband exposed in one of the biggest fraud schemes in US history.

Ian McRory has loved Hasty from afar. He is very successful in the financial world and he was a witness to Hasty being taken away in handcuffs. He posts her bail and doesn’t back down on making sure she knows he is there for her.

To classify this as a romance novel is a stretch. The hero is introduced immediately but he appears in about 20% of the story. She spent almost all of that time pushing him away. The book is heavily focused on Hasty and her self growth after the huge hit she took when she discovered her husband was the leader of a huge financial scandal.

As always a stellar performance by Erin Mallon! Her voice exudes passion and emotion the entire time she narrates.

Ohhhhhh Hasty!!! Holy cow was this book more than I could have asked for!! Any time we saw Hasty in the past she was a total snob and b*tch (this reference throughout the book is absolutely hysterical by the way). Well, the new Hasty is totally different and oh man was it unexpected!!!! I think Hasty being who she was helped make this book slightly different than the other 3, and it's well deserved. Hastings IS different than the other three girls, so her book being slightly different is super fitting. I have to say though, this may be one of my favorites yet! There were so many elements to this book and a few twists and turns that were NOT expected. It was such a good blend of everything!!! I think the other books were a geared a little bit more toward the comedic side of romance, and this book was a little more rounded out.

In this book we learned sooo much! We got to see a ton more of Hastings and Mallory's parents, who are adorable and HYSTERICAL, and of course we got to see all of the girls. But even more, we got to see a completely 360 of who Hasty was when she was younger, what she had become married to the sleaze and who she evolved into. It was such an awesome process to witness (I almost wanted to say see, because I swear I was watching this play out in my head as I read it!). In reality, it was like the evolution of Hasty and what it took to make her the best she could be.

And oh man Ian, I cannot talk about this book without talking about Ian. And Eric, and cheese, and well everyone. The chemistry and slow burn between Ian and Hastings was soooo hot. I was constantly jonesing for more moments between these two, and mannn did Julia hold out good on us!!! From him popping up everywhere to his white knight complex, he was just the best. And I LOVED how Julia brought in some people from Hastings past, especially Eric. He ended up being such a significant secondary character (and I LOVE me some good secondary characters). We got to see some truly hysterical moments between these two. In fact, I think we need an entire novella of just the shenanigans of Eric and Hastings!

And we can't forget the girls! Mallory, Perky & Fiona had really significant roles in this book. These two really helped Hastings put the pieces back together and in some really hysterical ways. These girls were so blunt with her, I had many laugh out loud moments because of it. The best part though, was how really took Hastings in. AND I LOVED the Taco, Taco, Taco and Beanerino moments!! Some of them were priclessssss!!!

I feel like I could go on and on... but I won't. JUST GO READ IT, PLEASEEE!!

(audiobook) This series is perfect. Each book is steamy AND funny, with very special characters, and a different plot that gives a little depth to the story.

This time, it’s a combination of a financial scandal and a character rediscovering themself. Both develop at the same time, and they both concern Hastings, Mallory’s sister.

I was seriously doubting at first that the author could pull it off. I mean, every time we met Hastings in the previous books, she wasn’t lovable. At all. Could I be interested in her story? Plus, she was married, and though I enjoy domesticity, I doubted this couple would be particularly cute. How wrong I was!

First of all, there’s no cheating, and yet it isn’t the story of Hasty and her husband, but you’ll have to read the book to know why and how. And since Hastings comes back to her hometown to lick her wounds, we see more of all the characters we loved in the previous books. And that’s where she’s going to look into herself and find the girl she’s really meant to be. A beautiful journey, with lots of laughs and love.

As always, the narration was impeccable. Top quality audiobook!

I swear every Julia Kent book is my most favorite, until the next comes out. But isn't that the way with any new book by an author you love?

We've been conditioned to hate Hasty (I mean Hastings) since the beginning of the series. So this book was LONG coming for me. I wanted to know why she was so snooty and snobby and just generally not nice. So this book was the perfect dive into why and how Hasty was the way she was.

There is one quote in the book that stuck with me and I think summarizes Hasty's mentality in this story when she is talking with Ian about how being a human being isn't a competition and when she realized it, "I've come to realize that kindness is a better barometer of success than being number one." I think that's something EVERYONE needs to realize.

I don't know who else might have a story but I don't want to let these characters go. So I hope there's more <3.
