I never thought my perp walk would lead to true love.

Then again, I never thought I’d be arrested on RICO charges and hauled away in zip ties on camera for the world to see, minutes after closing the most amazing deal of my career.

And all of it in front of my biggest rival, billionaire wunderkind Ian McRory.

I am broke.

I am disgraced.

I am alone.

I am a sucker.

RE: Hasty. I listened to the audio. Narrated by Erin Mallon. She did ALL the voices. This is 1st person POV.

If you've been following along with the series, Hasty needs no introduction. While this will read as a standalone, knowing Hastings/Hasty's backstory will make it a richer reading experience. Though, there is one problem with that... this is very much Hasty's story, and I don't actually like Hasty all that much. It's all about her personal growth, told completely from her perspective, and our hero appears in probably less than 20% of the book (even less while acting as a romantic lead). That's b ...more

I have read all of the books in this series. But Hasty is by far my favorite. Being Mallory's sister she has appeared before and I wondered just how Julia Kent was going to turn Hastings Monahan into a likeable character. The best thing is she didn't really change her. Through a series of mishaps Hastings becomes a more all around person. With a lot of help from rival Ian McCrory, Hastings (don't call her Hasty) learns to like herself a lot more. This was very well written, wonderful characters ...more

Hasty by Julia Kent made me stop and think about life. About friendship, family and true happiness. And that shows how much impact this story had on me. A entertaining and witty romance with a very important and life changing message about self love, Hasty was an absolute treat for my romantic heart.

Hastings aka Hasty always wanted to reach the top. Beyond her small town home. Beyond her seemingly less achieving sister. And she became the most recognisable powerhouse of finance world with her hu

Julia Kent delivers another laugh out loud story for us to devour.

I have to be honest, Hastings is not a very lovable character. I was definitely intrigued with her and how Kent would make me like her. It took me awhile to discover her redeeming qualities but they’re there, I promise. She is who she is and it takes us a little bit to get a deeper look but once we do, there’s an understanding. As she grew, my feelings about her grew too.

The story pulled me in with this one. Hastings’ life was a c

This final book in the Do-Over series is bittersweet to me!  I loved all these books and this final story of Hastings (the gal you loved to hate) and Ian was fabulous.

Ms. Kent has the writing chops to take a character that seemed to have no redeeming qualities in the previous books and brought your thinking around. Not only did Ms. Kent make Hasty redeemable, but also admirable.

Ian is just a true knight in stellar armor! He is a financial wunderkind and likes to do things on the down-low.  Lik

My mark of a great writer is one who can totally change my mind about a character that I don't like, to one that I admire. Julie Kent masterfully accomplishes this feat in this book about the rise and fall of Hastings Monahan, Fluffy's, aka Mallory's, sister. When we first met Hastings at Mallory's wedding dress fitting, she makes everyone in the wedding party feel they are beneath her social standing since they all stayed in their small town of Anderhill rather than branching out to a big city ...more

The first three books of Julia Kent’s Do-Over series are filled with quirky, fun, lovable women—except for one: Hastings “Hasty” Monaghan, the mean, ridiculously successful, endlessly snarky older sister you can’t help but hate.

In her book, though, we finally see a side of Hastings that makes us appreciate not only who she is but what made her that way.

Hastings Monahan is a financial success. She has just signed the biggest deal of her career when her world is turned complete upside down, endi

Ohhhhhh Hasty!!! Holy cow was this book more than I could have asked for!! Any time we saw Hasty in the past she was a total snob and b*tch (this reference throughout the book is absolutely hysterical by the way). Well, the new Hasty is totally different and oh man was it unexpected!!!! I think Hasty being who she was helped make this book slightly different than the other 3, and it's well deserved. Hasty was seen the golden child according to her sister Mel. However the Hasty we met in this book is far from that. She having a crisis and she about to live up to her nick name in the most spectacular way when her world comes crashing down.

Hasty has always been quick to make her a move to benefit herself and discard everyone in a heartbeat. So when her bank account her life line is demolished and she can only look to her archrival for help. I don't know how this Hasty girl was going to cope .

I swear every Julia Kent book is my most favorite, until the next comes out. But isn't that the way with any new book by an author you love?

We've been conditioned to hate Hasty (I mean Hastings) since the beginning of the series. So this book was LONG coming for me. I wanted to know why she was so snooty and snobby and just generally not nice. So this book was the perfect dive into why and how Hasty was the way she was.

Hastings has been so focused on her career that she let it overtake her life. She didn't realise her business and life partner actually has been screwing her over and it led to her downfall. This had forced her to move back home and start over. Obviously it was hard for her as her life had been fast-paced trying to close million dollar deals. Now her life had come to this..

"When I imagined you in handcuffs, it was never like that."

After 6 years of hard work, Hastings finally signs the biggest deal of her carrier, only to be lead away in handcuffs, arrested and disgraced, in front of her arch nemesis, Ian McCrory.

Hasty is truly the shining pinnacle of this fabulously outstanding series! Each beautiful friend who we connected with led us seamlessly to the next lady who needed some love in her life. We laughed, we cried, we cringed, and we cheered along with them. However, for this story, I was left stripped completely bare in that I related more to Hasty than the others. Also, her story was more disjointed and the connection was not as smooth or neat. We walked outside the box for her, and then eviscerate ...more

Savor it like a good wine & cheese pairing!!

Hastings, or Hasty as her family and old friends call her, finds herself doing a swandive from queen of the hill to the dregs.

After all, she finds herself leaving a business dinner to celebrate her biggest deal in handcuffs. Why?

Because her husband is a scheming, lying, Madoffesque, bigamist who has been using her to further his schemes since day one. She's back home with her parents to kick her wounds and find a way to move forward from this nightma

This series has been phenomenal so far, but I was a little apprehensive about Hasty’s story. Hastings Monahan is decidedly unlikable. She’s a know it all, too good for her home town, and she clearly thinks she’s better than anyone, including her family. But I guess that's typical for someone who measures success by the number of business deals she’s closed and the size of her bank account.

Silly me, I should have had more faith in this clever, witty, talented storyteller. She not only knocked Has

5 star review Hasty (Do-Over #4) by Julia Kent
This is the fourth and I believe final book in the Do_Over series from Julia Kent and she certainly ended the series well. As with previous books I have read by Julia Kent, Hasty was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.

This is Hastings Monohan’s story and as I have not warmed to her in the previous books I was interested to see how her story panned out. I have to say that Ms.Kent turned my opinion of her a

Hasty was never one of my favorite characters.
Every series has that one all-knowing self-important family/quasi "not really a friend" friend.
The one that everyone just barely tolerates.
In the do-over series, it is Hastings.
Not that Perky doesn't give her a run for her money, but that is a different story.
I wasn't sure if there was any way to redeem her character. Deflate her ego you could say.
Never should have doubted Kent's gift for writing.

I’m not really sure what I was expecting out of Hasty’s book. I just knew that I needed to read it because I had so deeply loved the books that came before it. I probably should have, but I certainly never expected the woman we all loved to hate so much in those previous books to be a complex, vulnerable character with hopes and fears I could relate to. I hated the necessity of seeing Hastings brought so low, but she needed something with enough impact to shake her free of her bad attitude and w ...more

The Do-Over series comes to an end with the conclusion of Hasty. We've seen and heard about Hastings (Mallory's older sister) in the other books, and I always thought she was a super-stiff stick. A financial whiz, she was uppity and snobby and judgmental and not as mellow and funny as the rest of the girls in the group. But when Hastings falls from grace thanks to her sleazy non-husband, she falls hard. She finds herself living back with her parents in small-town Massachusetts, a few hundred dol ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book to say the least, and read it all in a single sitting! Hasty and Ian have enjoyed a professional rivalry for a long time. When Hasty's world falls apart around her thanks to her good for nothing 'husband' it's Ian who reaches out to lend a helping hand. The admirable thing about this book is that Ian isn't the sterotypical knight in shining armour, he provides an opportunity for Hasty to rebuild her professional life, but the growth in Hasty is all her own. Oh Hasty, Hasty, Hastings....

The final book in the Do-Over Series is all about Hastings - the super successful, over-achieving, blunt, bitchy sister of Mallory (from Fluffy - loved it!!)

Hasty is all the things I just listed, but she's also very hard on herself, she undervalues herself, she's also quite insecure and this is when she realises there's more to life than money!
Then we have Ian...tall dark and handsome Ian, who is also Hastings arch-enemy in the work world yet comes to her rescue...
