I loved this book, it is such an enchanting read that I could have happily devoured in one sitting.
Following a disastrous relationship with egomaniac Lucien, Lara Nightingale just bounces back. Again and again.
Lara was a really likeable character; seemingly hard on the outside but with a soft centre, which really shone through in her relationships; particularly with her Mum, Fay; and Betsy. And also with Siobhan (who I didn't really take to), who Lara has known and been great friends with since

3.5 stars -> 4 stars. Surprised with my choice of read? I think I surprised myself a little bit too but it all makes perfect sense. I love cats (and dogs too), I love romances where two lost souls find each other when they least expect it, so my interest was raised right away and the cat playing such a big role in the story as a catalyst bringing people together was the big fat bonus that really sold it for me. So while I dont read romance novels very often I simply couldnt resist A Cat ...more

The Break Up by Tilly Tennant is a dreamy contemporary romance set in the UK that channels strong The Wedding Planner vibes. Hallmark Channel fans and those new to the romance genre will enjoy this book.

Quick Summary: A year after Lauras boyfriend left dumped her for her best friend, Laras life is finally better: she has a handsome cat named Fluffy and started her dream business as a

I had to read this one because a) Tilly Tennant is one of my fav romance authors and b) even though I'm more of a dog person (sorry Fluffy!) I love books where animals have an important role in the story.

Although it was a cute read it took me longer than usual to warm up to most of the characters and the story took some time to took off. Lara was a nice character, and anyone who has a pet can identify with her and her feelings towards her cat. There were some pretty horrible characters and I'm

I am always very very excited about a book by Tilly Tennant as she is one of my top favorite author! "the break up" is a wonderful book that I read in no time! It's very well written, it's very entertaining, I absolutely loved how the story starts and how it ends and i also love everything in between! And the "cat" factor in this book is very important in the story and definitely a big plus!!!! Very well done Tilly! Can't wait to read your next book! I am sure it will be brilliant!

The Break Up was heartwarming chick lit, cozy romance and womens fiction that revolved around Lara and life after heart break. It was about betrayal, working on your dream, coming out of heart break and finding closure of hurtful chapter in life, friendship, love, and pet love.

Writing was cozy, lovely and uplifting. Book was written in third person narrative from Lara perspective. It started with the Break Up (so this new title make sense), but it was not

"A Cat Called Cupid" could be described as a cozy romance. Is that a genre? It is now! We are immediately introduced to Lara who gets dumped by her boyfriend of whom she saw a future with and then gets a double slap in the face when she finds out he's been going behind her back with her best friend. Poor Lara! Lara decided to start a new life for herself and opens up a wedding planning business and finds herself a stray cat. Only this cat likes to wander the neighborhood, leaving a fellow ...more

I can't pass a book by that is either about a cat or has a cat on the cover. I'm a sucker every time. Plus I happen to have a long haired gray and white kitty named Fluffy ( I know we were very creative when naming him.) So how could I pass up a book where the main kitty was also named Fluffy, plus a lot of other names which were ridiculous. Fluffy was a perfect name, Cupid not so much.

I definitely enjoyed the book. It was a cute story. If Lara didn't want her cat running around at night, why

The premise for the book was really cute. Two people that are joined together by a cat that they both think it's theirs. When I read this I knew I had to get my hands on the book. Sadly, it was a bit disappointing to me, since I didn't particularly like any character and even the romance wasn't my cup of tea. Lara's and Theo's romance takes off too quickly and it gets serious insanely fast (like one or two days). It

The cat's name is Fluffy. Or is it Satcho? He answers both to two different owners. The true fact is that he owns two humans. Fluffy/Satchmo has it all. A place to hang out during the day, and a place to hang out at night. And, a very full belly to boot.

One day the cat doesn't turn up at neither residences. Lara and Theo are about to meet as they scour the neighborhood for their missing cat. Roaming about in the neighborhood they keep calling out. While Lara is calling for Fluffy, she is

I have read a few of Tilly's books and I have really enjoyed reading them. I read the synopsis for 'The Break Up' and it certainly sounded like just my kind of read. ('The Break Up' was previously called 'A Cat Called Cupid', which to me suits the story better). I started reading 'The Break Up' when I was in need of a distraction and distract me it did. I really enjoyed reading 'The Break Up' but more about that in a bit.

One Cat graces two homes and two different owners, well at least two different owners. Who knows what this lovely cat gets up to. This is the story of two cat owners but only one cat.
Lara calls her grey cat Fluffy and she loves him dearly. He comes into her life when her boyfriend has just dumped her and left her heartbroken. He is there for her, he comforts her, loves her and tries to be indispensable through those early days after he stalks into her home and her heart from nowhere and stays

I really enjoy Tilly Tennant as an author and so was always going to read The Break Up. I was initially drawn to the book by its original title A Cat Called Cupid and personally feel that would have worked better.

The Break Up is chick-lit at its best and is about so much more than betrayal and heartbreak, its about finding your dream, friendship, love in all its forms including parental and pet love.

The one thing that Tilly Tennant always does well is to create a cast of characters that you find
It was a horrible day: from finding out that her boyfriend had dumped her in some hipster jazz bar to walking to her best friends house and discovering just WHO she had been thrown over for, to getting sopping wet in the rainstorm that hid her tears of frustration, anger and hurt it just wasnt great. And then, half-dressed and fully in a state she meets a bedraggled cat who seems to have settled right in. This story starts on the worst night of Lara Nightingales life: her egomaniac boyfriend, Lucien, unceremoniously dumps her and turns her life upside down.

Then we time hop to the present (almost a year later) and are told how wonderfully resilient the experience has made her. After finding herself adopted by a stray cat, she immediately calls Fluffy, her life is now infinitely better.

However, Lara soon discovers her beloved Fluffy may not actually be hers, and it seems he has another owner: the

A delightfully dramatic way to meet and a prickly relationship begins!😽

I loved the arc of this story, despite the less attractive side most of the characters show as they tussle and argue. Their faults made them more realistic and, for the lead characters, more sympathetic and relatable. Using a cute cat to force the leads to interact was a brilliant stroke (although said cat did not really seem to care)😀.

I was so in accord with heroine Lara for turning her back on Lucien and Siobhan

The real MC in A Cat Called Cupid (now published as #TheBreakUp) is a cat, a blue-gray tabby, who is clever enough to "own" two humans. Named Fluffy by Lara and Satchmo by Theo, the two single people have no idea that the cat who turns up on their separate doorsteps and who they feed is really just using them for meals. And, cuddles. But, mostly, food.

So I loved the idea of this book in which the cat is responsible for the romance of said couple, though their first meeting doesn't go so smoothly

"A Cat Called Cupid" by Tilly Tennant is a cute story about a woman, Lara, who's boyfriend, Lucien, dumps her for her best and childhood friend, Siobhan. She finds out in the middle of a date at this Jazz club and proceeds to dump her drink on Lucien head and walk miles home in the pouring rain crying her eyes out. Bad enough finding out your boyfriend dumps you, but has been cheating on you with your best friend. So she numbly walks home soaked to the bone only to find a stray cat, soaked as ...more

I loved the idea behind this story. The characters, especially Lara, were easy to love. I had a lot of fun watching her reinvent herself after loosing her boyfriend and best friend- finding herself as a business owner and wedding planner. I adored how she met Fluffy the night her life changed and how much he grew to mean to her.
The interaction between Theo and Lara as they were squaring off over cat-ownership (face it, no one owns a cat mine own me) were hilarious and kept me turning pages. At

When Lara is dumped by Lucien in the middle of a jazz club the first thing, she does is call her best friend Siobhan, only to find out that it is her oldest gal pal that is to become her replacement. Utterly heartbroken she returns home to drown her sorrows with a bottle of wine in the company of her cat Fluffy.

A few streets away, Theo loves his job as a jazz musician. Playing with his band all night and unwinding in the early hours at home with his cat Satchmo.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Ironically this book was previously named A Cat Called Cupid with the cat in question going by the name of Fluffy and Satchmo. The concept could be ripped from some of the great feline stories on the Internet where a cat decides he or she likes having more than one human pay homage to him. Fluffy, as Laura names him, arrives at her door a bedraggled sopping ball of fur kitten. She has just endured the most humiliating night of her life where not only does her scudzy ...more

The plot was okay.. BUT there are a couple of issues im kind of questioning and others i just hate.

Let me start by saying how slow-paced this book was... it was dreadful, especially at the middle part when it was a year later after Laras break-up. There were several parts in the book, where the story wouldve survived without those unnecessary descriptions. Its like it was written to make it

This book was just okay and here's the reason why:
I found the beginning of the book to be very slow paced to the point where it was boring. I couldn't care less for Lara's job (wedding business) and most of her dialogues with her mother were unnecessary and repetitive, always talking about how she was dumped and how she didn't like Lucien (Lara's ex-boyfriend)

In the middle of reading other genres, I usually slip in one of the more romantic ones periodically just to keep it different. I started with that thought in mind. This was not as light-hearted as the cover indicates but maintains an upbeat steady pace throughout the narrative, sometimes amping up the situation with breakneck speed instances which had my mind spinning a little keeping track of all the goings-on.

Lara is thrown into a sudden nosedive and having to shake things up, she starts a

A guy has a cat. A girl has a cat. It turns out it's the same cat. Yip, this is a book about two people who unknowingly share a cat, and the events that follow.

The characters are your typical, run of the mill characters. No one is particularly interesting, but I found them entertaining nonetheless.

The writing is pretty standard, making it a quick, easy read. Some parts of the dialogue sounded a bit
