Clifton Forge #3

Stone Princess

Rate this book
Presley Marks has just become a cliché: the jilted bride. Wearing a white dress, standing in front of her friends and family, she announces that her fiancé—according to his text—has forgotten about the wedding.

Humiliated and angry, she hides from the world in the mundane routine of her life. Working at the Clifton Forge Garage isn’t glamorous, but it’s safe from the spotlight.

At least it was, until Shaw Valance comes to town.

The notorious Hollywood actor is starring in a movie based on the town’s infamous murder. When he’s not on set, Shaw hovers at the garage, watching as they build his custom motorcycle and irritating her with his handsome smile. He was supposed to leave once filming wrapped and go back to his fancy life, not buy the house next door.

But Shaw might regret that purchase once Presley’s ex-fiancé returns, bringing with him a war between old rivals that could burn both their houses down.

STONE PRINCESS: is the third full length small town romance book in the series 'Tin Gypsy', by Devney Perry. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

In true Devney Perry fashion she lolls you into a false sense of security until you near the end and things generally take a turn you never expect to take and this is what makes me come back to her books time and time again, she always gives me an unexpected unputdownable read!!

After how the previous book ended I couldn't wait to start on this one, I wanted to see how Presley Marks story was going to unfold, jilted at the alter by the one guy who saved her but who in the end destroyed her.

a

No one expected Hollywood’s heartthrob Shaw Valance, the handsome movie star to come into town and knock down her walls wooing her in the process. This was such a slow burn kind of romance, throw in the small town feels and the guys who have her back through thick and thin and I was in my happy place once again. This author has such an uncanny knack at making you believe you are living through the lives of her characters.

The fight wasn’t won. Yet. But I’d walk away the victor. I’d win Presley Marks. She was my anchor. She was my heart.

Presley has been a character I’ve been looking forward to reading about since the first book. She’s a part of the family and works at the garage, but she’s also involved with someone from the rival club.

When Presley was stood up at the altar, she leans on her family. Her family isn’t blood, but the people who have been there for her since she was an eighteen year old girl running from a bad home situation. When a famous movie star comes to town to film a movie about someone near and dear to her heart, she’s not happy.

Shaw Valance is in Clifton Forge to film the movie about the infamous murder that happened there. He decides to go to the garage to meet some of the people there and doesn’t have the most warm welcome, but he is intrigued by Presley from the start. She won’t give him the time of day which makes him chase her even more.

I loved Presley and Shaw together. There was a miscommunication that made me aggravated at Shaw, but thankfully it was resolved quickly. And after that ending, I’m so excited to get Luke and Scarlett’s story. I’m loving this series and watching everything tie together.

Since this series began I had high hopes for it only to be let down with each book. The main reason for my disappointment is that for majority of each book there isn’t a ton that goes on.. Usually I end up somewhat bored for a large portion of the story. I continue on with the series because the characters are very likeable and I always hold on to hope that the storylines will pick up. In the case with this instalment, I hoped for the best for the overall story. Unfortunately the storyline coasted along until about 80+ % where it finally exploded wide!

I will continue with this series for now because I am a diehard Devney Perry fan! I do hope that the next book will be a lot more exciting and promising for the series as a whole!

Thanks Steph for another wonderful buddy read!😘💖

Devney Perry is quickly becoming one of my favorites authors of all time and this series has solidified her spot on my stalker rank. Her ability to give you these characters with a type of swagger that you just can’t fake while giving you a hint of suspense, is the reason I’ll continue to read anything from this author.

I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for Stone Princess and I can honestly say that I was NOT disappointed. If you’ve the previous books in the series then you know that Percy went though some life changing things which has forced her to re evaluate her life. With a strong support system of close friends that has rallied around her when she’s needed it the most, has to move on from a life that she’s always thought she’s wanted with a man who was nothing but wrong for her. When the hollywood heart throb lands in her town to film a movie that’s based on a true story in the small town, life is no longer quiet and simple the tiny blonde who captures his attention.

This is the third book in a MC series and it just keeps getting better and better!! Most of these characters are friends but when you see the interaction and love they all have for each other, it’s more like family and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. I fell in love with Shaw and Percy from their very first meeting together and I felt their connection immediately. It was pure, romantic, swoon worthy, and passionate.

I could read a hundred more books in this series and I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will still have that feel good feeling and love all of the characters. If you haven’t started this series yet, I really don’t know what you’re waiting for. It’s sexy, thrilling, and it has a feel good small town romance to it.

This is OK read. I still like the second book the best. Stone Princess is too much talking, especially the inner dialog and no action.

The chracter chemistry is also cold. The way their fall for each other is not convincing and less drama. I guess this book is intended for lazy afternoon.

Overall I enjoy the book OK.

Somewhere along the way, he’d become more than Shaw Valance. The fame had worn off. Now he was just the beautiful man in my bed who made me feel special.

Gosh, I am SO obsessed with this series. And it just seems to keep getting better and better with every book. Do yourself a favor and definitely read these in order. Trust me on that. There's an overarching story arc that continues through the series. And this book will have a HUGE spoiler for the first two books. So if you plan on reading those, don't read this one first. You need to experience everything in order.

Presley Marks immediately caught my attention in Gypsy King. She's just one of the guys when it comes to working at the garage. The guys are extra protective of her, especially when it comes to her fiancé that no one thinks is good enough for her. Especially when that fiancé is also a member of a rival biker gang to Tin Gypsy and there's no love lost between them. Pres may look like a cute pixie, but she's definitely a tough chick. But even tough chicks suffer from heartbreak, and that's exactly what happens to Presley when she gets left at the altar.

Nursing a broken heart, the last thing she wants is for a Hollywood movie star in town to film a movie based on events that shattered their lives to set his sights on her. But Shaw is not at all what he appears. He may be a famous movie star, but he's also down to earth, sweet, and patient. He's determined to wear her down because the first time he lays eyes on her, he knows she's different. He's not a player. He's not cocky. He's utter perfection with a Hollywood smile and it wasn't difficult to fall hard and fast for Shaw right along with Presley.

I love the small town backdrop of this series. And when you have an unforgettable romance set in this sleepy town, it's utter perfection. The chemistry between Shaw and Presley is instant and sizzling, though their romance is a bit of a slow burn. The man pursues and woos her, and I loved every page of it.

But there's also a good bit of suspense happening in the background. You get to understand exactly what kept Presley with her boyfriend all those years. You get to understand her history and how it followed her into her present. The second half of the book was definitely my favorite. I love that Presley doesn't sit on a pedestal pining after a man. There's an incredible set up for the next book with a bombshell of a twist thrown in that I was obsessed with. If you're a fan of this series, you definitely won't want to miss this book! I can't wait for the next one.

This book is definitely my least favorite of the series so far. The beginning was sooooooo slow and boring. We rehashed a lot that happened in the last book because the hero is an actor and filming a movie of what had happened in their town. We hear a lot about them talking about what we had already read in the previous books. I wasn't the biggest fan of the romance either. The hero confides in the heroine and when that secrete gets out, he immediately accuses her and ruins any trust they had built together. I only became interested in the book about 60% in when the plot picked up, there was some angst in the romance because the heroine was dating someone else, and there was suspense thrown in. I would have DNFd this book if I wasn't reading it for a readalong. This was definitely a bridge book and really only there for the plot to continue in the next book. The romance was just a bit lackluster and the first half was definitely hard to get through.

“She was a little thing, probably just over one hundred pounds, but damn, she was a force.”

What a great addition to the Tin Gypsy Series!! Stone Princess follows the story of Shaw and Presley. Now, if you’ve been following this series like I have, then you’ve been dying to get your hands on Presley’s story like I have been. And let me tell you, Presley’s story does not disappoint.

When we first dive into Stone Princess, we see that Presley’s world has been turned upside down. On the day of her wedding, Presley’s fiance leaves her at the alter, totally heartbroken. Humiliated by the rumors of her small town, Presley takes every chance to hide from the world. Her job is anything but glamorous, but it’s hers. All is going to plan, until Shaw Valance blows into town. Shaw is a famous Hollywood actor who is staring in a film based on Clifton Forge’s most infamous murder. Presley immediately decides she doesn’t like him and isn’t about to let his smile and smooth talking change her mind. Presley can’t wait for the day that Shaw leaves town, but life has other plans in store for them….

Overall, I thought that Stone Princess was a really good read. It sucks you in from the very first page and before you know it, you’ll find that you’ve devoured the entire book. As I previously stated, I had been dying to get my hands on Presley’s story and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. I mean, if anyone deserved a happily ever after, it was Presley. Presley’s life had been anything but picture perfect, and when she thought she finally found her happy, the rug was ripped out from under her. My heart broke for our jilted bride, Presley and I could definitely see how she earned the name Stone Princess. Presley became more protective and guarded with her heart. When Shaw enters the picture, there is just something about him that pulls Presley in. These two couldn’t be more opposite, but they totally made it work. I loved that Shaw wasn’t your typical movie star. Sure he was cocky and a total smooth talker. But, he had a big heart and wasn’t afraid to after what he wanted. Together these two burned up the pages together and kept me begging for more.

Stone Princess is a fantastic story from beginning to end. The characters are amazing and just so easy to connect with. I loved the plot and couldn’t wait to see how it would all come together. This story had steam. It had romance. It had suspense and some surprising twists and turns. All in all, a fabulous read and great addition to this series. I can’t wait to see what adventure this author has in store for us next!

I knew from the moment I read the blurb on Stone Princess that this one was going to be my favorite of the series so far.

And, y'all. I don't want to brag or anything? But I was so right.

I adored Shaw and Presley. I loved their deeply charged banter, their off-the charts sizzling heat, and the pure way they loved each other. I loved every twist and turn that their story took. I have a weakness for these sort of superstar hero falls for average/everyday heroine stories - not that there was anything average about Presley. Her fierce loyalty, giant heart, and completely lovable personality jumped off the pages in a way that made me want to make her my very best friend. Her light shined every bit as bright as Shaw's -- and that's saying something when you consider that he's an actual superstar, and an alpha to boot. They were sheer perfection together and my heart may not ever be ready to let them go.

I also love how the Tin Gypsy family bond grew stronger in this story. I absolutely loved watching those bad boys rally around their token little sister. I adored how they protected her and how she, in return, protected them right back. The family bond they have formed is so deeply satisfying and I can't seem to get enough of it.

No doubt about it, with Stone Princess, the Tin Gypsy series has officially hit its stride. I was hooked on every word: from the breathtaking romance, to the pulse pounding suspense, to the most epically heartwarming epilogue. This was straight up, pure kindle crack - absolutely unputdownable - and holy cats, I cannot wait for more! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

With Stone Princess the Tin Gypsy series has officially become one of my favorites!

Presley Marks is the heart and soul of the Tin Gypsy family. She’s kept the Clifton Forge Garage running smoothly while Dash and the rest of the gang—and herself too—tried to move past the death of Draven. Presley’s only mistake was thinking her no-good fiancé would actually show up at their wedding. Sure none of the guys liked Jeremiah, didn’t think he was good enough for her. And he sure proved his worth by leaving her standing at the altar.

Licking her wounds, the last thing Presley needs is for Hollywood to come sniffing around and decide to make the movie on location in Clifton Forge. She doesn’t need any reminders about the murder and the man who did it. She lived through it once and she certainly doesn’t need any more heartbreak right now.

But there’s just something about Shaw Valance. Hollywood’s biggest star is starring in the movie. And he’s planning to spend a lot of time in Clifton Forge. He’s also hoping to spend a lot of time with Presley. And while she’s trying to fight it, her feelings and her heart just won’t let her. And they soon fall into something that could be so much more—if they’d just let love happen.

Man, I loved Presley and Shaw together. Loved their banter. Loved their growth and maturity and fight for the life and love they wanted and deserved. That they didn’t settle for less. Loved how Presley never allowed Shaw to sweep her off her feet with his Hollywood charm. Oh, he definitely swept her off her feet, but it was with the “real” Shaw charm and love.

And I really loved how they finally came together in the end for their happily ever after. Along with their Tin Gypsy family—especially Dash, Emmett, and Leo—who accepted Shaw into their fold.

If Stone Princess wasn’t already my favorite of this series—the heartwarming, sweet, amazing epilogue would have sealed the deal. And now I cannot wait for Noble Prince! ~ Missy, 5 stars

MC Romance | Actors/Actress Trope

Can Hollywood’s heartthrob and a woman entangled in a motorcycle club find love? That’s what you’ll have to find out in Stone Princess! Once again, Devney writes a thrilling novel that’s equal parts romance and suspense. Stone Princess is one heck of a read and I was reading it at the speed of light because I couldn’t get enough of Shaw and Presley’s story. These two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried and watching them slowly find common ground was amazing to watch. Devney knows what her readers wants and consistently delivers.

If you’ve read the first two books in the series, you won’t want to miss this one. If not, I personally recommend reading the books in order because there is a bit of mystery in the first two books that bleed into this one. The way Devney incorporated that mystery into this book was wholly unique and absolutely stunning! It fit so well! I loved it to pieces!

If you’re a romance reader and love authors who can write various tropes, then you won’t want to miss a Devney Perry book. I’ve been a fan of EVERY one of them since she published her first book a few years ago titled The Coppersmith Farmhouse. That series is more small-town romance while this one is a but dark and has suspense and mystery.

Spoilers ahead (2.5 why is this review so long stars😂) *rounding up for now

To escape her abusive father Presley ran away from home at 18 and moved to Montana. Draven took a chance on her and she was given a job at the garage, making the guys her new family. A few years later a blast from her past shows up in the form of Jeremiah, pretty soon they're in love and he's proposed. For years she puts up with bad behavior from him until finally he apparently forgot their wedding, leaving her humiliated at the altar. When Dash announces that Hollywood is coming to Clifton Forge Presley is immediately on edge, she's defensive of her family after the trauma of Armina's murder and Draven's apparent suicide. When Hollywood superstar Shaw Valance shows up at the garage Presley gives him the cold shoulder, she refuses to trust him.....only he refuses to go away! Shaw shows up frequently and before she even knows it he's slipped under her skin....only Hollywood's hero doesn't plan to stick around Montana and she isn't ready to leave her hard fought for, home and family behind ...so everything has to be temporary or does it?

Shaw made the move from hero police officer to famous movie star successfully but he's tired of playing the hero. The role of disgraced cop and murderer is something he's more than ready to play. Meeting the lovely but prickly Presley is just as added bonus. Unable to stay away from her he's determined to get to know the little firecracker, what began as temporary quickly comes to mean so much more.....but an unexpected betrayal destroys the fragile trust between them and Shaw is convinced Presley wasn't the person he thought she was. When things become clear however he retirns to Clifton Forge determined to win back the we woman he loves.r

**********
The positives
Unlike the previous books this one wasn't as drawn out and bogged down with unnecessary everyday life
Shaw was a likeable enough mc, maybe not as take charge/Alpha as I'd like but ok enough
I liked seeing the previous characters as they built families and lives changed
The plot was well written and held my interest
Lovely epilogue

The negatives
PRESLEY 😂
Ok so she had a tough childhood and escaped her abusive father, she ends up leaving her twin behind and makes a new life for herself which is excellent but what I did not like about Presley was the fact that not only did she put up with Jeremiah for years, with him barely making an effort, not contributing financially and actually taking money from her while she ignored the warnings from her friends about the kind of man he was but it took him not showing up to the wedding for her to get a backbone!!! Years.......for what??? No self respect.....but she had a backbone with Shaw so I rolled wit it......until I found out Jeremiah was her TWIN sister's boyfriend first!!! Bitch what??!!! She knew he was with her sister and when he showed up.to town within three weeks they were together!!! The disrespect!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrr
During the relationship with Shaw she was ok, not great but she was able to say no to.him and didn't display much BBS so she qualified as ok....until Shaw left and she started dating Luke......like damn why can't women take time to chill, to breathe and figure shit out because honestly an h who spent YEARS in a toxic relationship, then had her last lover accuse her of betraying him maybe needed to take a little time, maybe play a couple of girl anthems and make some life choices but nope the author paired her with Luke during a 5 month separation. Grrrrrrrrrr
Then when her long lost sister shows up the Jerry Springer episode unravels and we learn that Jeremiah abandoned Presley because he'd gotten back with the sister! Like what?!! Then Presley is hurt by this and I'm like but didn't YOU do the same thing???? Karma man! (the fact that the sister did this after getting an invite to Presley's wedding was just as gross because she obviously knew he was with her sister)
I did NOT like Presley

Anyways dome drama occurs, bad guy goes down and HEA

***Scarlett who is Presley's twin is getting a book with Luke as the hero... I mean couldn't the author have introduced a new character. Am I the ONLY one grossed out by the h being wth someone who'd been with her sister? Just me??? Ok moving on.....

Without the Jerry Springer "all in the family" connection this would've been rated much higher as I felt it was the best of this series to date

***Imagine Emmett's h.......he's slept with any and everyone in town 😳😤

No cheating*
OM drama
Tiny OW drama
Separation during which they'd been broken up and h moved on, dating someone else. No sex just lots of wet ksses and tingles and intentions to have sex that get interrupted
H wasn't with anyone else

I love this series and recommend it...
especially if you like MC books with some mystery set in a small town...
For me, this series is the best work by this author...
I love the side characters we get to see what happens in the life of the protagonist from book 1 & 2!!!

Now why I didn't like it more and rated it higher;

* to be completely honest the storyline was not really all that or at least not for me
I am not a fan of the famous hero ( he is an actor) it was just too messy, the hero was too nosy and their connection wasn't believable

* then there is the fact that heroine ex is also her twin sister boyfriend I AM SO SICK of this thing happening in books I can't even

* then there is also a fact that heroine comes for abuse household which she left when she was 18, later on she entered a toxic relationship, is a doormat gets left at the altar and suddenly becomes this other badass person

* triangles galore; it seems that our heroine and her twin sister ( next book in the series is hers) have the same type of man and don't mind sharing.. hero of the next book also dated Presley - they didn't sleep together but still ...

* TW, abuse, cheating, suicide

beautiful cover, solid read...I WISH I loved it more!!

This is the best one in the series so far. Shaw is a non MC member who was in town to do a movie.
He happens to meet Presley and also discovers he rented a house beside her.
After much persuasion from Shaw things get pretty steamy between him and Presley knowing it's all temporary until he leaves.
Then Shaw gets some news he thinks Presley has leaked to the press and everything falls apart.
I love how the epilouge is a far into the future. It gives alot more to the story.
A friends to lovers to second chance romance for these two.
I'll definitely be finishing this series ❤

Engrossing & Endearing, this is a typical Devney book with sizzling chemistry and deep, intense emotions. Well developed plot and engaging narration makes it a hard to put down book. small town stories, both hopeful and fresh, makes you a believer in instalove and happy endings.
Devney's style of feel good stories are fast becoming my favourite. I've binge read her earlier books and even though this series has a lot of action, her signature sentimentality is the central theme.
she created The Tin Gypsies With Hearts of Lions. They protect their herd, provide for their family and if need be, kill the other predators trying to harm one of their own.
Such is the crazy family of Slaters of Clifton Forge Valley. Their garage is their lair, the people their own, they stand as one, have each other backs. Take for example, Presley. She was almost like a daughter to Draven. Dash, Emmet & Leo watched out for her, were there for her even when she was left alone at the Altar!!
She's a pretty strong girl but right now she's cut off at her knees.
"I’d spent yesterday in tears, nursing a broken heart and a raging hangover. Presley Marks was not a woman who cried easily. I’d given up on tears at a young age because they only earned me another slap. But yesterday, I’d let them fall freely.
I’d cried for being so damn stupid. And pathetic. And alone. And humiliated."

description

In her small town descends Shaw Valence, who's so far removed from her small & compact world in Montana, they might be on different planets altogether.
He's the Handsome movie star, heartthrob of millions of girls, his smile and acting chops putting him in Multi- million bracket, while she's barely sustaining, alone, bereft & grieving.
They meet, sparks fly and rest, as they say, is historic.
This book is the BEST in the series yet. Opposites attract but hearts repel. There's too much "why me" insecurity residing in Presley's heart
"He was too . . . polished. Too refined. Too perfect. I wasn’t going for perfect. I was going for good enough. Because good enough wouldn’t shatter my soul."

description

Having been surrounded by fake Hollywood celebrities, he's craving for The Real One and she's the realest real he ever could hope to find. Straightforward, brusque and strong, their flying banter gets the electricity buzzing throughout.
Her constant NOs amuse him, and he relentlessly pursues her.

description

Devney has developed multi-dimensional characters, they are deep, love and hate with intensity, are fiercely loyal. She puts brotherhood right beside kinship and familial bonds made of steel. Despite the hardness of their lives, I felt so much love flowing between the people
Shaw made me realize you shouldn't judge people before you get to know them. He's sensitive and smart, beautiful person inside out.
"Trust. Partnership. Dedication. Loyalty. Friendship. Love. Peace."
Presley is soft and sweet despite her stone armour that she hides behind to escape hurt and pain. Her connection with all the other characters, one-to-one are beautifully portrayed.
All the facets of relationships, blood or otherwise are polished and displayed in full glory. I was immersed & invested in them, felt everybody move around me as I was placed in the center of all their lives.
They've become my own now. I keep hearing and reading about what a fantastic man Draven Slater was. I'm now incredibly anxious to meet him, read about his life, his story.
And Tucker Talbot is another ghost of a character I'd like to see more of
"And the Warriors because, well . . . That was a different movie."
Keep the books coming Devney, I've set camp in Clifton Forge Valley in Montana and I ain't going nowhere

Another amazing book in the Gypsy King series! Devney just keeps getting better and better, and its been so fun watching her growth as a writer with each book she’s written.

“From here on out, I was the woman with ice in her veins. The woman with a heart of stone.”

When I read this quote, I felt those chills. If I was jilted at the altar, I’d be stone cold too. I love that Presley cut to the chase, and was not about any game playing. She was uniquely herself, and I loved that about her!

Small town romances suck me in like no other. I love the character build that’s created in a series, and Devney doesn’t disappoint.

Shaw. How do I count the ways that I love this character. I’m a sucker for an alpha male, especially one with a sense of humor. Their back and forth made this book so spectacular!!

Read this book. You will not be disappointed!

I love this series so much!

We are so completely invested in The Tin Gypsy series and after reading the last two books (Riven Knight and Stone Princess)back to back, we’re now desperate for the release of Noble Prince in November! In Stone Princess Devney Perry beautifully combined elements we crave – Hollywood romance, small-town romance and biker romance. Whilst this biker series may not be the dark and edgy MC books we normally associate with this theme, the author delivers the warring biker ‘feel’ in the underlying presence of hostility between the now-defunct Tin Gypsy’s and rival MC Club, the Arrowhead Warriors. Their rivalry and revenge simmer throughout the series, giving each book that suspenseful edge we devour, mixed with passion, banter heartfelt emotion.

We’ve been really looking forward to Presley Marks story. We knew there would be a lot to this twenty eight year old, who fled Chicago, on her own some ten years earlier, ending up in Clifton Forge, Montana and brought into the fold of the Tin Gypsy MC club as one of their own. Protected and loved by the former bikers, making her mark working in the office of the club’s repair shop, Clifton Forge Garage. We had so many questions about Presley, and wow, did her story deliver. Devney Perry certainly went dark with Presley’s past which was horrific, painful and heartbreaking. What this little pixie lacked in stature, she more than made up for in heart and tenacity.

“We don’t talk about you,” he said.
“No.” I turned my eyes to the yard.
“Why?”
“I don’t like my story.”

Presley had suffered a broken heart and the worst of humiliation when she was left at the altar on her wedding day, and despite all the warning from her friends, she didn’t see it coming. Left to lick her wounds, Presley buries herself in her work. However, what Presley didn’t count on was the day Hollywood heartthrob (swoon), Shaw Valance would walk into the Garage. There to film a movie about a murder in Clifton Forge, Shaw is instantly smitten by the frowning, prickly Presley. Shaw craves real in his life, and Presley is as real as they come.

“Kiss me, Shaw.” He framed my face. “Where?”
“Here.” I pointed to my lips. Everywhere.

Presley isn’t happy about the movie (and we’re giving nothing away here for fear of spoiling Riven Knight if you haven’t read it yet) and Shaw, ever the Hollywood hero is taking a risk playing the villain, another point Presley isn’t happy about – she doesn’t want this person to garner any glorification. Shaw opens up about the movie, and his part, slowly gaining her trust.

‘One of these days, I’d do something to make her smile and laugh. She’d be gorgeous, smiling with no walls in place. ‘

There is so much to Presley’s story – we couldn’t have anticipated the heart-wrenching journey it would take us on. Shaw, too, had demons from his past he needs to put to rest. Presley has built up walls, can Shaw dismantle them and find his way into her heart? And what of the expiration date on their romance? Shaw lives in LA, Presley is firmly planted in Montana? Presley is deeply private, Shaw’s life is on display for all. As their goodbyes loomed, our hearts plummeted.

‘His laughter was like music, and the more I heard it, the more I could make out the different notes. Like his smile, it was different when it was real. I was huskier and came from deeper in his throat. It was raw and unrefined.’

We enjoyed this story so much! We swooned like crazy over Shaw Valance, and we giggled at his wicked sense of humour – his easy-going nature complimenting Presley’s prickly personality perfectly. Oh did we swoon! Learning more about the relationship between Draven and Presley made our hearts soar yet tinged them with sorrow. It wasn’t only the characters, it was the beautifully rich Montana countryside Devney Perry so vividly captures, bringing the stunning landscape into our imaginations and making it a character of its own. What a perfect way to spend a weekend reading! We can’t wipe the smiles off our faces!

4.5 STARS!

Devney Perry once again delivers a story that will have you enthralled from start to finish! Stone Princess is the latest edition to her Tin Gypsy series, where each character is woven into her intricate web of storytelling.

Presley Marks is this spikey sprite who manages the office at the garage. She's a vital member of the Clifton Forge family. Jilted at the altar, she's turned into a stone princess with a heart of ice. She soon realizes what a total douche her ex was and vows to never fall so easily for a man again. That is until a popular Hollywood actor comes knocking down her walls. She finds him annoyingly gorgeous; however, she denies her attraction towards him at every turn.

Shaw Valance is A-list actor. Famous. Wealthy. Gorgeous. He comes to Clifton Forge to film and star in the movie based on the biggest scandal to ever hit the small-town of Clifton Forge, the murder of Amina Dayley. Shaw is meant to be focused as he is taking on a role outside his norm. In this movie, he will play the role of the murderer. To fully portray his character in the correct light, he'll stop at nothing to discover the true facts of what really happened. But Shaw quickly becomes intrigued by the quaint town and meeting Presley is like a breath of fresh air. She's the first woman to not fall for his charm and he soon sees that he cannot fight his attraction towards Presley's fiery personality.

Together, Presley and Shaw were electric. Their banter was playful and witty. There was no escaping the feelings they began to develop for one another.

"Kissing Shaw hadn’t felt wrong, not in the moment. Feeling his lips on mine was like coming home after a long day. It was like finding the sanctuary, the solace I’d been missing for months. The boat of my life stopped rocking. The waters of my soul calmed."

"And any time I thought of Montana, I’d remember the woman with eyes bluer than the big sky. Or maybe I’d just think of her, no trigger needed. Maybe when it was time to go, there’d be no leaving her behind."

The pivotal moment where the drama comes forth is what influenced my lowered rating. The main characters lost their way momentarily due to a lack of communication and the misunderstandings almost lead to their demise. But, wowza does she set up the scene for the fourth book! Though I must say I'm not a fan of the woman who will be the heroine in Noble Prince.... Just yet. So we will see if that particular fact can he swayed!

Stone Princess is a heartwarming read filled with lighthearted moments and an air of mystery. Devney writes the best epilogues, this one being my second favorite, I was just so giddy inside as I read it 😍. This is, hands down, a must read!!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

2.75 stars

Note: There is a content warning at the very end of my review.

I loved the first two books in the Tin Gypsy series, but Stone Princess missed the mark for me. Each book in this series is a standalone, but I recommend reading in order. Stone Princess is really well-written (it is Devney Perry), but the main characters and the weird and toxic dynamics in this book just didn't work for me personally. It would be impossible for me to explain why I didn't like this book without any spoilers, so the rest of my review will contain spoilers.

Holy Wow! I absolutely LOVED both Presley and Shaw. I’ve been waiting forever for this story and Ms. Perry did not disappoint. In fact, she just raised the bar for a heroine that will steal your heart!

‘Presley Marks was an explosion. She’d destroyed the plans I’d had for Montana.’

Recovering from an event that has left her broken and a bit reclusive, the last thing Presley wants is to have to deal with the sexy actor that comes strolling into the shop. Trying to put the pieces of her life together, the concern that Shaw is going to open old wounds for her friends makes her defensive in every way. She could handle his little excuses to show up at her place of work, but when she learns his new role in her life, she finds herself fighting to keep her wits about her in his ever-present presence.

'Except saying no to Shaw felt like foreplay, a battle of wills to see if I could hold up my stone heart against his persuasive smile.'

I adored Presley! She’s had a rough life but she found peace and family in Clifton Forge. Fierce, loyal and independent, she has secrets that she’s only shared with one other person. The way she treated Shaw in the beginning had me laughing because she totally confused him and he couldn’t get her out of his mind. She was absolutely the definition of stone, along with icy and prickly. And yet, she had a heart of gold for those she cared about.

Shaw was wonderful as well. He set his sights on Presley and the more she refused him, the more he fell for her. While this doesn’t have extreme jealous/possessive scenes, what it did had was amazing and felt realistic. I’m not a fan of the Hollywood star trope, but as always, this author totally sold me on this hero. He was so down to earth, not a player, and was determined to win Presley no matter how long it took.

‘This woman was testing the limits of my restraint.

This woman might push me over the edge.’

Presley and Shaw’s relationship ran the gauntlet of emotions that kept me turning pages as fast as possible. They set fire to my Kindle and the chemistry between them was felt from their first meeting. Along with the steam, this had some drama trickled throughout as well as a bit of relationship angst that kept my heart hurting, yearning, cursing and cheering.

If you love a hero that does the chasing, with a possessive mentality, this is definitely the book for you!

Being honest, I wasn’t super interested in reading this book only because I wasn’t interested in the heroine. We didn’t see much of her in books 1&2 so I didn’t really feel anything towards her.

It was enjoyable enough for a romance but I wasn’t a fan of the plot with this one, and it’s more of a personal preference. I don’t like it when the heroines in books don’t have a good relationship with her sister, but more specifically when it’s twins. So many books make twins hate each other and for what reason?!!!!

I also didn’t like the fact that the heroine was engaged to her sisters ex boyfriend (the man who left the heroine at the alter) - I mean seriously?! If my sister did that to me, it would be on sight🥊🥊

On another note, I liked the hero in this book but he wasn’t anything special. Overall it was a pretty average read for me🤷🏼‍♀️

Stone Princess was exceptional! It had everything I love in a story. It was entertaining and sweet and gritty and real. I loved the humor, emotion, and drama. I loved the build, the heat, and all the characters. I couldn’t get enough!

This story was incredibly exciting to read. I was immediately caught up in Presley right from the start, all her feelings pulling me in. It's tense and angst-filled. I felt for her but I loved her strength and how she moved on from her past. I loved her and Shaw meeting and the tension between them mixed with her snark and attitude. There was some seriously awesome antagonistic banter happening. I loved the build to her softening, opening up, and spending time with Shaw. Shaw was the sweetest! I loved his wit and charm. I instantly loved him and understood what he wanted to accomplish with the movie and his passion for it. There were so many great moments between them that I enjoyed. There’s also an incredible building heat that just simmers and then bam! So freaking hot! I thought they both had fantastic character development and there was a great pace to learning their histories.

It flowed so well with these really great details making the story rich and full. I loved seeing all the characters from previous stories and getting updates and meeting some new ones too. This world and these characters the author has created is wonderful. There's drama and love, a lot of passion and heat, but so much growth and healing. I truly loved an element from Presley's past that's brought to the present and how it all worked out. That being said, I'm super excited for the next book, Noble Prince.

Hands down this is a new favorite and it's a toss-up which book in the series I love most so far. They're each unique and I pretty much inhale them. A thrilling story that's not to be missed!

Completely captivating and seductively suspenseful. Devney Perry weaves a tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first pages to the last. But even more, she takes us on a journey about forgiveness and fighting for what you deserve. Presley and Shaw will stay with me long after I reached The End.
