This was a fun read! I love fantasy and I love dragons so a story about a dragon tamer and her dragon in a circus was something that I liked reading about. It all reminded me a bit of How To Train Your Dragon and I love those movies so this was a very good thing.
Although there were some things in the story that I saw coming, the story in its own often went into surprising ways. I really liked the main character Ivy and her bond with her dragon Celestia. It was very clear that she loves the ...more

Circus of Scales drew me in and kept me immersed up until the very last page. I can’t wait for book 2 to continue this story. Constance does a wonderful job at selecting her words to really bring this story to life. The visual imagery playing out in my mind, as I read, was fantastic. Ivy is such a strong and powerful main character. I love strong female characters, and Ivy is one. Oh and did I mention dragons?!? No, well I am now because this story has dragons. So if you want to read a story tha

3.5. First of all, I LOVE dragons, so this book was right up my alley. Constance Roberts is excellent at world-building. Her lush descriptions of settings make you feel like you're right alongside the characters throughout the story. The main character, Ivy, is strong-willed and pure-hearted but stubborn, which is a combination of traits I enjoy in my heroes. The dragons are awesome; the author's imagination really shines when she describes the different kinds of dragons and their relationships

I really enjoyed this book. Ivy and her dragon familiar, Celestia are such a great pair, and their adventure keeps you on your toes throughout the book. I enjoyed the pacing of this novel, it's definitely written as a YA book, but it's still enjoyable for adults. I also enjoyed that the romance element of this book wasn't overblown and taken to the forefront of the novel, and it remained focused on Ivy and protecting her dragon Celestia. Their relationship was truly well written and has all the

This was a quick, interesting, enjoyable read. I would have liked to see more character depth and development. It didn’t really make sense to me how TItus and Ivy fell for each other so quickly. I think it would have worked better as a full-length novel; as a novella, it just felt rushed and as if the story was not as thought-through as it could have been. I would have loved more depth and detail.

I absolutely loved this story when it was inside a Circus Anthology [Cirque de vol Mystique] It was by far my favorite.
It reads like a circus story, but swiftly takes flight into what promises to be a fantastical adventure. I wish there was more to the story because I couldn't get enough of it. :) ...more

Wow! I don't think I ever really wanted a dragon until I read this book! Roberts did a great job bringing everything to life in this book. I could picture everything as it was happening and wish I could visit The Sanctum. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!

Okay yeah, maybe it's sketchy to "read" and "review" your own book. However, I have read through these words no less than twelve times, so you betcha I'm going to have it count toward my yearly Goodreads goal. Lol. XD
I'm so excited for this story to be out in the world. What started out as a short piece for an anthology has now developed into a three part series. (whoops) I just couldn't keep this world within a few pages. I hope you enjoy the dragon circus as much as I did. :) ...more
