Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wall-Paper has been told, retold and performed on stage and film. There's even a Twilight Zone episode loosely based on the story, an early study of sorts of mental illness (in particular, it seems, post-partum depression) published in the late 19th century. The story's societal critique would seem well before its time, while at the same time a poignant reminder that there is nothing new under the sun (or behind the wall-paper).

Absolutely adored this story the second time around. The visuals added SO MUCH to the story. This story is an excellent, subtle, horrific, feminist exploration of postpartum psychopathology. An all time favorite of mine.

Sara Barkat’s illustrations being the perfect way to bring to life Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper, creating a fantastic eerie setting that takes you into the narrator’s shifting state of mind more than the prose alone, in my opinion.
Mind the Book
En visuell variant behövs egentligen inte, eftersom novellen har så starkt (bild)språk) i sig själv, men kanske som present till en ung person, eller någon annan som vill närma sig klassikerna.

I liked the story quite a bit, but did not personally like the artwork. I felt the art was was not well done. I also think this is a very expensive graphic novel for being so short. I read it in about an hour, but it is more than twice the price of nearly every other graphic novel I have.
