The Things We Hide At Home

Rate this book
The night Tenny first meets David at the Oubliette Club is when it all begins: the lewd pictures being posted through Tenny's door, an intruder attempting to enter his home, the feeling of being watched and followed around. David is shy, timid and inexperienced when it comes to BDSM. He stands out like a sore thumb amongst the usual club-goers and Tenny is instantly drawn to his gentle nature.

However, David doesn't gel well with Tenny's overtly brash best friends, all of whom believe there's something strange about him. Tenny understands David's awkwardness, seeing something of his former self in him, and he quickly grows fond of his new friend.

In the meantime, Tenny does his best to deal with being stalked by an unknown stranger, wanting so hard to believe David is innocent.

Tenny fails to see how someone so quiet and fragile could ever do such horrible things, and is unable to stop from falling for him. Still, the unanswered questions, David's evasiveness surrounding his past, and co-incidental circumstances leave Tenny no choice but to confront the truth.

This is such an interesting book! I won't go over the plot...because the description is above, and I would love for people to read this one and just let it play out as the plot unfolds.

I really loved the two main characters in this. Tenny is confident, caring and seems like one of those people who would be considered an extroverted introvert. He's comfortable with himself, his friends, and his place in life. Except that there's something missing for him in terms of a partner. David is a remarkable character. I love it when I can read about a character and know that they have a lot of challenges... but there's still something in them that keeps them reaching out... even if it's to just one person. There's something about a character who needs someone, needs some kind of love in their life that draws me in.

Together, Tenny and David made up such a "real" couple. They definitely have a flawed relationship: it moves quickly, probably too quickly for them to even know each other well enough to deal with the issues that come up. I enjoyed reading about their meeting, the first tentative movements towards each other and the way they fit together.

There's a really decent suspense/mystery plotline going on in this book. It turns out Tenny has a stalker. Of course, at first, he doesn't think that there's any harm in it. But soon enough, Tenny begins to feel unsettled and wonders about his safety. As the mystery comes to a frightening conclusion, there's also a huge hurdle for Tenny and David to overcome. Both storylines swell to their conclusion at the same time. It's all quite exciting.

I really enjoyed this story. The sensitive nature of David and the caring soul of Tenny really worked for me!

I love discovering new to me authors, and I just love when the books turns out awesome!

I couldn't put this book down, the story and the characters were fascinating and I just wanted to know what happens next. It was cute, it was real and lovely. I only missed one thing: more erotica and/or BDSM.

Tenny and David's story was unique like their characters. I loved Tenny, he was such a positive character and had so much faith and patience. David was a whole different story, I couldn't decide to like or dislike him. The shyness was cute on some level, but after a time it was frustrating to see how shy hew was.
I get him and loved that he represanted us the shy ones, and it was really good to see Tenny to have faith in David and gave him a chance. I connected with both characters at some point, and I love it when a book is speaking to me.

The stalking was really good, and I couldn't wait to find out who the mysterious stranger was. And when it happened - OMG - it was so good! It was really exciting and I think I couldn't even breath then. So good!

The emotions were good on the pages, the bdsm was good too (but I needed more), and the story was just cute.

I loved this book and recommend it!
