There were things that I liked about the story. I liked that Beckett was not a manhoe. I get so sick of reading about manhoes and thankfully he was not one. I also like that he and Eva were faithful to each other. No sex with OP after meeting.

I liked Eva. She was down to earth but not perfect. She was friendly and personable. She cared about other people's feelings and never acted like she above anyone else. (Unlike Beckett). I loved that Eva had a good sex life before Beckett. Yes, it was the b

Eva was a real person who saw the good in people despite their flaws. Loved her. Eva and her half-brother Adam lost their parents when Eva was young and her brother sacrificed a lot to raise her. Still getting over her grief at their loss, she fell in with a bad crowd and committed petty theft. Her brother Adam took the fall, ended up in prison, and when he pitched an app to Beckett King, the deal fell through because of his prison record. Now after meeting Beckett she has a chance for revenge a ...more

If you've read book one in the series, you're familiar with Beckett King, son of Gentry King and self-made billionaire. I can't say he was an agreeable character in the first book, but he comes around in this now. Now, if you're not familiar with the series, let me make a quick summary: four King boys need to get married and stay married for a year, in order to receive a certain sum of money. The matriarch, the grandmother is the one breathing down the guys' necks, while the father - Gentry - is ...more

4.5 stars. Oh what a tangled web we weave...Eva’s intent upon meeting Beckett was to exact revenge for the failure of her brother’s app and subsequent plunge into depression. She ended up working as Beckett’s PA without him knowing he was the one that “crushed” her brother’s dreams.

Beckett had some deceptions of his own to pull off in order to claim his inheritance - and Eva agreed to become his fake fiancé. That got Gram off his back so she could begin working on a bride for the next brother -

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. King's Ransom by Marie Johnston is the second book in the Oil Kings series. I read this book as a drop-in (I didn't read the first book), but I plan to go back and read it! I really loved this book. The characters were really well developed and I just felt a connection to Eva and Beckett. Even Adam and the rest of the King clan were compelling characters. Sexy (Mature Readers Only), dramatic and loaded with sweet moments as well as a bunch of cringe worthy ones, thi ...more

This is the second book set in the world of the King's oil rig royalty who aren't all that they seem

Eva Chase blames Beckett King for destroying her half brothers dreams of launching an App after all he wouldn't deal with him because he had a prison record a record that should have actually been Eva's after she fell off the rails after the death of their parents. So she gets a job working for Beck hoping that she can learn secrets to bring him to his knees What she doesn't expect is that he will

I love the King family they are so not perfect, even though they have all that money they all have issues. I really enjoyed Beckett and Eva's story both were such strong characters. Eva was easy to like she was the underdog, trying to protect and take care of her brother Adam you could feel the love and loyalty. Beckett is rich with family money and a successful self-made millionaire with his tech company but has his own issues stemming from his childhood after his mother's death. A chance meeti ...more

Beckett needs a wife before his 29th birthday and be married for a year in order to inherit his trust fund. You get to meet Beckett briefly in his dad Gentry's book Kings Crown the book before this one. Which didnt show him in much of a good light. As an insular man & a workaholic but in this book you get to see underneath his shell (or at least Eva (FMC) does). She has a refreshingly frank and honest point of view of everything. One of which she isnt ashamed to come straight out and say. I loved that about Eva as well as her fierce loyalty to her brother. Eva and Beckett are such compl

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Beckett and Eva. Beckett is a tech CEO and has a famous oil and ranching family. He has a trust fund from his family that has crazy stipulations, he has to be married for a year by his 30th birthday or he loses that money. He has a theory that if you have a bad history, jail or addiction, he won't work with you. So Eva's brother was one of those who he turned away. So Eva is seeking revenge. But she didn't plan on de ...more

Revenge is a slippery slope. No matter how justified, is the act of delivery worth the devastation of emotion? For Ava, the destruction of her brother Adam's confidence due to an action from his past meant that she feels compelled to avenge his trauma. But as she gets to know Beck, reality blends and twists. Is Beckett really the evil Tech King portrayed? Does his own life have secrets that reflect the way he acts? Just what makes his view of the world so black and white? Ultimately, will his fu ...more

4.5***** stars. This book will definitely help pass some time while the country is down. Eva is out for revenge on behalf of her brother who is horribly depressed after having his app rejected. Beckett has misguided business criteria that stems from a childhood tragedy. He mistakes Eva as his new assistant sent by his grandmother to get him married off. That’s a whole ‘nother hot mess.
It’s very well written and will hold your attention from beginning to end! Very enjoyable read!!

Beckett needs a wife before he turns thirty, but he doesn't even have a girlfriend so he hires one of course.

The vibrant and oh so relatable characters in this book easily drew me into their story. They made want to cry, laugh and shake some sense into them. I loved how sassy and determined Eva was, and Beckett’s rigid standards made me want to shake or smack him. I couldn’t wait to see how they affected each other, how their connection grew, and love bloomed. I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I can’t wait to read more about the Kings. Eva wants to hate Beckett for what he did to her family but working for him, in order to get revenge, turns out to be dangerous for her heart. With the exception of his rigid rules on second chances, he is the perfect guy; it’s just a shame that her past is not perfect. I really enjoyed this novel and how falling in love changes both of them. Highly recommended.

There are deception and lies from Beckett and Eva here as they both have their own agenda. Eva thought she could exact revenge on Beckett but I could tell that was going to be difficult when their chemistry was practically burning everything in sight. I had a hard time putting this down because I got engrossed in the characters and I am totally hooked on this series.

I really enjoyed this story, it is the second book in the Oil Kings series and can be read as a standalone story. The storyline is interesting and quick to read, the characters are likable and have flaws that make them more relatable. Really good story.

Beck appreciates lots of thingsabout his woman, “I like how you moan when you eat my brother’s cooking. I like how you look with no pants.” I ground harder against her." I liked this book, I liked Beck, even if the man was set inhis ways.
