Detective Jason Smith is not a huge team player ... he's a great cop and he clears all his cases. But he is uncontrollable at times and has anger issues. He has his own way of doing things .. with or without his supervisor's permission.

Jason is perplexed when a man is shot and killed in a park in broad daylight. So why are there no witnesses? And then another body shows up ...also killed with a gun ... and no witnesses.

It doesn't stop there. More bodies are found .... all shot and killed with

I couldn't wait to read Deadeye which is book 12, and the latest, in the DS Jason Smith series. This author had my full attention yet again as Deadeye is another winner!

Jason Smith is out walking his dogs, Fred and Theakston, in his local Hove park. What could possibly go wrong?!

A shot rings out and screams are heard so Smith goes to see where the noise has come from and to find out what has happened.

I confess war related stories don't usually appeal to me, but this one is different. Its more to do with the knock on effect of the rivalry between soldiers when they return home to York from Afghanistan.

An ordinary sunny Friday afternoon at a crowded park in York and the first murder takes place. Charles Lincoln is shot by means of a specialist sniper rifle L96, same as the type used in conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. Three further murders, two of which are women, then ensue by means of the

I have been a fan of Stewart's work for a while now. He has written quite a few books now. I have read and reviewed a lot of his books but I still haven't managed to catch up with all of his work just yet. Although I have loved everything that he has written, I must admit that I do have something of a soft spot for Detective Sergeant Jason Smith for reasons which I will explain in a bit. 'Deadeye' is the latest book in the DS Jason Smith series and it's another corker. I thoroughly enjoyed ...more

This is book number twelve in the very popular series featuring DS Jason Smith, an Australian who now works in York alongside a great established team of detectives. Smith is minding his own business and giving some much needed exercise to the dogs (Theakston the Lazy Bull Terrier and Fred the Ugly Pug), something he has rather neglected since his wife DC Erica Whitton moved out to her parents taking 4 year old Laura with her, as a gunshot rings out across the crowded park. A man is felled, a ...more

So this is the 12th in the DS Jason Smith series, while it probably can be read as a standalone, I would suggest to read at least the previous book Demons as a small part of the storyline carries over.

Deadeye is a fast paced read, with a bit of dark humour and a heart in your mouth ending.

Smith and his team are faced with one of their deadliest killers yet, a snipper apparently picking off members of the public at random.

I have to be honest I was furious with Smith in the last book but

I love this series and I have to say that I think Detective Jason Smith is probably my favourite fictional detective at the moment I love the wit that the author has given his character and it was great it this book, he has created a series that I would pick up without even reading the blurb!

This book involves the team having to crack a really tough case, and it was good!!! I like the curve balls that were thrown in to keep you guessing as to who the

Another great read in the Jason Smith series. Jason is still trying to win back his wife and daughter at the start of this book. Also he has a new DI who not only has Jasons promotion if he hadnt of lashed out but to make matters worse hes the nephew of his boss Smyth. As if this isnt enough to contend with he starts to suffer with crippling migraines and theres also a top marksman going around shooting people. A page turning read following Jason as he trys to cope with all these obstacles. A ...more

DS Jason Smith has his hands full as there has been a murder in the local park. A man has been shot however from the damage caused and the accuracy of it, this isnt a normal gun. alternate chapters take us to Afghanistan several years beforehand where one of the men has just learnt he is to be a father. They take on the Taliban in a battle and his friend sees a sniper but does nothing and the father to be gets hit. Jason is still fighting his own battles still being separated from his wife and ...more

An assassin is picking off Yorks citizens from a distance and DS Smith is living alone with his dogs after making the biggest mistake of his life. The new DI has a suspect in custody however DS Smith thinks its the wrong person. Is Jason Smith right? And can he get his wife and child back?

Stewart Giles kept me on the edge of my seat yet again. Even when I suspected I knew who the villain was I couldnt identify him amongst the characters we had met at that stage. A good read with some unexpected

After reading English at 3 Universities and graduating from none of them, I set off travelling around the world with my wife, Ann, finally settling in South Africa, where we still live. After Ann dropped a rather large speaker on my head I came up with the idea for a detective series. DS Jason Smith was born. Smith, the first in the series was finished a few months later. 3 years and 8 DS Smith ...more
