What I Loved:
I loved the mixture of romance and thriller in this book. I always enjoy when I book is more than just one thing and The Letters She Left Behind nailed it!! With a wonderful romance about reconnecting love, but a well-woven tale of conspiracy and murder, this book was awesome.

How I Felt:
The Writing: This is my first book by C.L. Walters, but it will not be my last. The writing just drops you right into the story. You can feel the world around you while you read.

The Location: I don’t

This book immediately hooked me and kept it going really well. Between the mystery and the relationships, there was never a dull moment but it never felt forced. I was in tears at some points, intrigued at others, and excited with the rest.

I received an ARC of the re-release of this book.

THE LETTER SHE LEFT BEHIND was introduced to me as an adult romance--which it is--but there's so much more going on here. Woven within the beats of a typical romance structure are the threads of a murder/suspense plot, a result of the character Megan's odd code left in a series of journals and letters discovered after her death. There's a conspiracy that forces the MCs to work in tandem to solve, ultimately drawing them together. A fun twist I was

3.5/5 stars!

I was graciously given an e-arc copy of this book by the author herself. This was for sure a fun read! The family dynamics were spot on and the mystery part of this book was oh so ever intriguing! Looking forward to reading more work by this author

CL Walters seamlessly weaves together romance, mystery and suspense with loss, grief and love in this engaging story. The attraction between Adam and Alex is palpable from day one when they meet as teenagers. Their second chance at love comes years later and after the death of Adams wife, Meagan - who was also Alex’s best friend. A year after losing Meagan the two of them come together to decipher cryptic information in letters she left behind. Adam and Alex’s love for one another gradually unfo ...more

The author writes in descriptive, flowing prose that emulates the book's Hawaiian setting. I loved the exploration of a relationship many can relate to where love happens at the wrong time. In this case, the protagonist Alex misses the chance to date her best friend's eventual husband. She remains a devoted best friend, suppressing her feelings for Adam while becoming, over the years, a treasured "aunt" to her best friend's kids. The story begins after Megan, Alex's best friend, dies and Adam ne ...more

The Letters She Left Behind is a beautiful tale of love, redemption and second chances. There were occasions when unnecessary information was added to the story, however overall it was very well written. The story was well paced with information revealed at just the right times. I also loved the peppering of Hawaiian words.

If you’re a mystery or romance lover or even if you just want to try something new you should definitely get your hands on a copy, it comes out on the 14th of Jan 2020.

C.L. Walters' story blew me away. There was so much to love about this one. I absolutely loved the characters and the suspense! This story had everything you'd want to find in a really great read. I really enjoyed this book, as I have her other books. This one is for a more mature audience compared to her YA series, but sure to be enjoyed just the same. Love the Hawaiian influences throughout the book. Treat yourself and pick this one up today! ...more

Its been long since I read a murder thriller. I'd like to thank C.L. Walters once again for sending us a copy of her book! 💜

This book is an adult romance, filled with suspense and heartbreak.💔 I loved how the main characters were built up and how they have changed and come so far along in their career and family life. I should say that this book felt like it came out to be a beautiful tale of reality and mistakes.🖤👞👠

I wrote this book, so of course I love it. I love the two characters: Adam and Alex. I adore their love story and the idea of second chances. I love how the narrative takes us on a journey through grief to healing. I love how we get to see them grow. I love how important Adam’s late wife Megan is in the tale. I love the grown children and how important they are to the journey. Finally, I love the excitement of the mystery... the tension and the peril that ups the stakes. I hope you enjoy it too. ...more

In Between

I’m very picky with romance novels, but I actually quite liked the romance in this one. Walters writes romance in a way that works for me.

Walters is an auto-buy author for me. I’ve read (I think) all of her books now. This one falls in the middle for me.

I’m new to reading thrillers, but I love thrillers in movie format and I can’t tell if I don’t prefer thrillers as books or if I just haven’t found one that really captures me yet, because I’ve read a few (most on the bestsellers list)

This was a very entertaining story about love, tragedy, forgiveness, and murder! Something I usually would not read but this romantic thriller was beautifully written and I definitely enjoyed reading it. Though the begining is a little slow, just hold on because once you hit the middle you won't be able to put it down!! ...more

I enjoyed it this one. It was a beautiful love story with suspense. The Letters were well incorporated into the story which I found fascinating - how the author weaved it into the story without being too dominating. But overall kept me guessing and reading.

As a kid, my world revolved around two things: stories and make believe. I have built a real life around those two things as well: I am a teacher of stories and a writer of make believe.
