Meh. Another "self-help" book designed to encourage readers to shake off the chains and shackles of normalcy and search for meaning and adventure in work and life. Regretfully, this book seems more of an examination of the life of a nineteenth century "bro" than a realistic approach to life. I'd love to have "spirit and vision" but I'd also like to finish paying of my goddamn student loans.

Had Jeff for a couple classes at SDSU in the late 70's, early 80's and those courses literally changed the course of my life. It was great to read his stories again, although I preferred listening to them in person. Made a memorable trip to the Sierra Madre to visit an elderly friend of Jeff's, Lydia; did some climbing, ate hand-made tortillas and fresh turkey mole! I talk about Jeff and the effect his classes had on my when I introduce journaling to my current classes.
