The ninth book in the OUTLANDER series now has a title: GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE.

Talking to your bees is a very old Celtic custom (known in other parts of Europe, too) that made it to the Appalachians. You always tell the bees when someone is born, dies, comes or goes—because if you don’t keep them informed, they’ll fly away.

If you are sick of this series..move along.. We, who LOVE this story cannot WAIT to see the next new Books!!! (I DO hope this one comes out soon! I am 66 yrs old..I want to live to get to the end...So glad a Book 10 is in the works ...I better quit smoking..Don't want to miss that one either!!!
Although, my younger SIL promised me that if I die before this story ends, she will read them to me at my grave!!! PS. I'm in good health right now, so Im just being dramatic! ;-)(less)

That being said, I am a pretty fast reader and it still takes me about a month of doing NOTHING but reading to finish one of these behemoths. If you have work or a life, it takes MONTHS to finish one book. (This seems bad since I just looked on Audible and they are listed 30-60 hours to listen to. I wouldn't though. Too many details.) And of course, you end up taking breaks. So, if you wanted to, you could probably start now and finish right around the time the last book comes out, depending on your time commitment and your reading speed.(less)

These books are fantastic. They are historical. No, well, not *all* history. Science fiction. No, wait! Romance. Okay...adventure! Wait, wait...they're time-travel, or tear-jerkers, humor, and a little paranormal with a family saga thrown in. Oh, and only good for women. Well, and men, too. And people. Can't forget people.

See?! These books are ALL THE THINGS.

Go read the first Outlander and catch up with the rest. You have time. Then come back here to comment and agree whole-heartedly. You're wel

There is no release date yet but early 2020 is looking likely. My body is ready! :)

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2019:
Diana Gabaldon: "Note that BEES does not have a publication date set yet! I am working hard doing the writing and research for BEES and hope to finish writing it by the end of this year (2019). After I finish it, then my publishers will decide upon release dates, likely in 2020."

UPDATE JULY 6th 2016:
We have a title - Go Tell The Bees I Am Gone

I do not understand the Goodreads ratings process and/or the comments section. How can so many people, going back to 2015, mark the book as “read” and give it a star review (from 1-5 stars) when the book has not even been published yet? It makes the entire review system for this platform a sham. Also, there are comments that are obviously spam and/or useless (i.e .gifs, emojis, etc) that do nothing for a person looking for honest reviews (if the book was even published yet!)

Does Goodreads not e

Feb 16, 2021: This lack of book is depressing me. :( I know she's working on it and I know she definitely does her research! But sad days.

Sept 3, 2019: "Well, it will certainly be _finished_ before the end of the year. When it's published doesn't depend on me, though--pub dates are decided by the publisher, and depend on all kinds of arcane stuff, including availability of press-time, paper, warehouse space and shipping."

The curse of George R.R. Murrow strikes again...she’s never going to finish this book. She’s having too much fun being a celebrity. I don’t blame her, but at a certain point you should just admit the series is over with no real conclusion. Bummer.

Spotted today on Facebook (link):
Reader: Diana is it true that book nine is the last one?
Diana Gabaldon: I don't think so.

Methinks it's time to just... wrap things up.

Now, I know a fair amount of this author's fans will disagree, hate on me, or dismiss me as a troll. but I need to make it clear that I am not trying to attack the author personally, nor am I giving this book any stars as I have not read it.

The one book I did read was Drums of Autumn, which had been given to me as a gift not long after its release by a relative who knew I enjoyed reading and assumed I would enjoy something that was popular. And don't

"Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone"

It is a very old Celtic custom (known in other parts of Europe, too) that made it to the Appalachians. You always tell the bees when someone is born, dies, comes or goes---because if you don't keep them informed, they'll fly away.
Diana Gabaldon -Will just note that "gone" doesn't necessarily mean _dead_, you know. There's a war on, you know; men march away and all that...

You have to read the preceding books in the Outlander series to know the relationships, history and background of these historical time slip novels. Each volume is addicting and difficult to put down. The author creates a universe and populates it with dangerous, two-faced, murderous people who want something from Claire and Jamie or want what they have... land, home, wealth, power, education, special skills and most of all, unwavering love for each other. Their love encircles an extended family ...more

I don’t want this series to end, I can’t bring myself to watch the TV series as it doesn’t match my imagination and image of the characters created in my mind. (Maybe one day I’ll seat and watch them.)
You can always pick up with Bre and Roger’s children going back one day...just a thought. 😊
Thank you for the hours of enjoyment!
