Journey and Brody have such a sweet but heartbreaking story that I felt for them both in this. There is heartache, love, guilt, and so much sadness that I didn't know how I was going to finish this. The characters hooked me though and I couldn't stop. The journey is just as sweet as the end result. ...more

I thought this is a secind chance romance. While I listen to the audiobook, I can not connect with anything. There is so much conversation that keep repeating over and over again.

Nothing spark my interest.

Shari has us chasing that slow burn in Bourbon On The Rocks and it’s full of heartache, regret, hope and so much love. You need to read this book for Hannah, the party, the restaurant, Vegas and the Bourbon bottle alone. This story took my heart on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Journey and Brody bring the sarcasm, but they also have such a witty relationship and boy can they bring the heat. I love how Brody pushes Journey out of her comfort zone. She is so much stronger than she gives herself ...more

Bourbon on the Rocks just blew me away! The characters and the storyline grabbed me right at the beginning and held my heart hostage as both Journey and Brody worked their way through the pain of their past in order to find love in the present.

They had a brief past that was cut short and tarnished by tragedy but now they have found friendship and possibly more.
Journey held a heaviness in her heart that I could feel leaking off of the pages. She needed to find some peace and let go of the pain

Bourbon on the Rocks by Shari J. Ryan is book Two in The Barrel House Series. This the story of Brody Pearson and Journey Quinn. I do think reading the previous book helped me to fully enjoy this one but I do think you could make it a standalone book. Also know that in the previous book dealt with Journey's sister and Brody's brother. Journey and Brody's families were friends so they have know each other for a while. They even shared a mind blowing kiss but then something happened and Journey le ...more

Barrel House series book 2 is my favorite.
I could not wait for Journeys story. This by far was so much more than I imagined. The grief and pain she'ss endured just breaks your heart. Brody Pearson has his mind set on getting to know her after reconnecting after so many years. This wonderfully written book is full of LOL moments, lots of steamy times and heartbreaking tears.
This author is definitely one to follow. Her characters spring to life in her books and just grab your attention. Most defin

Bourbon On The Rocks takes the reader on a ride through a roller coaster of emotions. Guilt over a loss, a spark that is one in a lifetime and a second chance. It's the story of trying to find oneself in a world of tragedy.
This story had so many layers to it. Journey takes the reader along as she tries to heal and live her life fighting it every step of the way. She has guilt, feels loss and doesn't feel she deserves to live, love and laugh.
Brody sees past all of Journey's troubles and gets past

Cue the waterworks for this amazing second chance romance. You are taken on an incredible Journey of finding hope, love and second chances at life. Journey and Brody have both suffered so much and you feel everything with them. Love truly can conqueror all. But will it help them both heal? This series is a can’t miss and this story is even better than the first.

Wow!! Journey’s life has literally been a journey. This girl has been through more then most. But her story, it’s so much more then that. Every time I pick up one of Ms. Ryan’s books I get lost. Lost in the story, lost in the emotion, lost in the love, just lost. And when I’m reading that’s what I love more then anything. Just to get lost and not realize what’s going on right in front of me. Ms. Ryan does that and more when I pick up one of her books! And Journey and Brody’s story is no differen ...more

Get ready for another addition to this series that will tug on your heart strings. I mean Journey is a tough nut to crack and Brody is the textbook definition of persistent. Pair that with a very involved family and a snarky tween and we have the perfect storm for a laugh out loud, heart tugging, happy sighing kind of book. Journey has been through it and she isn’t coping well especially with the loss of her father so very fresh in her mind. Brody well he’s been betrayed by someo

If there's one thing this author knows how to do, it's tap in to the complex, overwhelming emotions of grief and loss. She then turns them toward character development, creating authentic, irresistible characters that resonate deeply with readers, helping those who carry the wounds and scars realize that a common bond unites us with others who travail on their own lonesome journeys. Her words act as a balm, soothing some wounds, bringing people with like tragedy together, and we take heart knowi ...more

I was totally consumed by this sweet, emotional, and heartfelt slow burn romance. This journey through love, loss, redemption, hope, and forgiveness will have you in tears of heartbreak and joy! Journey and Brody have a history, but after years apart they are back in each others lives again. Brody is a sweet, caring and thoughtful single dad. He has never forgotten Journey and the night she rocked his world with one kiss then disappeared. Now that she is back in his life, he is intrigued and det ...more

This was my first read by this author, and I can say with absolute certainty that it won't be my last. I was captivated from the very first page, and couldn't put my kindle down until the very end. This is definitely a book that deserves to be read!

Our characters Journey and Brody have a history together, and are reunited again after years apart. Journey still feels the pain and heartbreak from her father's death, and has convinced herself that she doesn't deserve happiness in her life. But with

Journey has never healed from the guilt and remorse she feels about the past so as a result she has built walls around herself both to protect herself and others around her. What she hadn’t expected was that a man from her past would be so determined to not only breach her walls but tear them down.

Brody and Journey shared one kiss many years earlier which neither of them have forgotten. He is now a single father to his daughter Hannah when Journey re-enters his life. She is not the girl he remem

What can I say about Brody and Journey? They were made for each other!!! Their story is good!!!

Brody was so patient with Journey. He melted my heart. They just balance each outer out perfectly. I absolutely loved their story. Their banter had me chuckling and on the opposite side I was tearing up at what Journey was putting herself through.

I Really enjoyed Bourbon Love Notes by I believe Mrs Ryan amped up the game when she penned Bourbon on the Rocks!!! My one and only problem: wh

I did like this story more and it could have been that I liked Journey more. Journey was sarcastic but I liked her wittiness and Brody was just the guy for her. We do have heartache but I liked that we got path of understanding and eventually a love worth living for. This book will show that things happen in your life that you have no control over and it is up to you how you will decide in what path you chose to take.

In the 2nd book, we get Journey and Brody's story. This series will take you back and forth to past and present to get you caught up on how the story blends into a beautiful contemporary story of love, brokenness, healing and finding the right person at the right time in your life.

Journey's story literally broke me to pieces. I cried and laughed and cried some more! I knew there was something deep about her background but never expected this turn of events. I loved Brody to pieces!

I absolutely loved Brody and Journey’s story!! This is a story of one night that changed lives forever. It’s a story of guilt and redemption. It’s a story of love and hope. It’s a story of letting go....letting go of the past and embracing the future. Shari weaves a tale that is full of so many emotions. At times it is overwhelming. I could literally feel the guilt and heartache as I was reading! You will laugh and you will cry but wow will it be worth it!! Amazing book!!

Make sure you have a lot of tissues while reading this amazing second chance romance. You are taken on an incredible Journey of finding hope, love and second chances at life. A sea of emotions have you experiencing everything with Journey and Brody. Can their love and support help them both heal? I love and highly recommend this fantastic series.

Loved this story! Journey is the perfect name as she has been on one long, crazy journey indeed! I love the flashbacks to find out just a little more at a time. She’s punishing herself for choices she has made when she was younger. It’s noble but so sad at the same time.

In the second installment of her Barrel House series, Shari Ryan gives us a slow burn romance filled to the brim with heartache, gut wrenching regrets and a chance at forgiveness.

In Bourbon on the Rocks, Ryan features Journey, the sister to Melody who was previously featured in Bourbon Love Notes. Where Melody’s story was full of hope, childhood crushes and second chance at romance, Journey’s is a c

This author writes such poignant and emotionally charged stories. There is so much going on in this story but, in the very best of ways. The journey has so much sorrow and guilt that she is drowning in it. Her life is on hold, and she is slowly dying from all the pressure.
All of her experiences lead her to where she ends up and, it is beautifully written. I know that everything doesn’t always end up with a happy ever after, but I wish there was more to Adams's story.

Ever read a book that you know is well done, but you just can't get into it? That's where I'm at with this one. I've enjoyed Shari J. Ryan's work in the past, so I've been keeping up with the series but I found this to be such a heavy, depressing read. It was one thing after another that just added weight to the story, and the romance gets lost in the shuffle - especially since our heroine is kinda broken, and we see so little of the hero. It wasn't until around the halfway point that I connecte ...more

Journey Quinn is a photographer who is holding onto guilt from an accident that happened when she was 18 years old that she still can’t put behind her. Her father has recently passed away and Journey is struggling with his death on top of everything else but luckily her sister, Melody, is helping run the family business, The Barrel House.
Brody Pearson hasn’t seen Journey in years but that doesn’t mean he has forgotten about her. He is now a single father to Hannah and can see how much Journey is

Bourbon on the Rocks is a sequel to Bourbon Love Notes, which I reviewed a few months ago. It picks up the story part of the way through the previous story, but from the perspective of the hero and heroines’ brother and sister, respectively. It turns out that these characters also had some very brief history in their pasts, but a horrible accident derailed any relationship they might have had as well as the rest of the heroine (Journey’s) life since that time. It is apparent that there is more t ...more

I was so happy to read Journey and Brody’s story! A stand-alone in the Barrel House Series, this book overlaps the end of Bourbon Love Notes, and is the story of Melody’s sister and Brett’s brother.

Bourbon On The Rocks was much more intense than Bourbon Love Notes. Journey is all kinds of messed up emotionally. She’s had some serious repercussions to live with after some mistakes she made when she was younger, and those choices still effect her even as a grown woman who is almost 30. She’s also

5 Single Kiss Stars!! What a beautiful ride this was!

Journey and Brody shared a passionate kiss years ago and knocked his socks off and she disappeared never to be heard from again.
