Jacquie Biggar is an award-winning USA Today bestselling author of romance who loves to write about tough, alpha males and strong, contemporary women willing to show their men that true power comes from love. She lives on Vancouver Island with her husband and loves to hear from readers all over the world! In her own words: “My name is Jacquie Biggar. When I'm not acting like a total klutz, I am a wife, mother of one, grandmother, and a butler to my calico cat. My guilty pleasures are reality tv shows like Amazing Race and The Voice. I can be found every Monday night in my armchair plastered to the television laughing at the judge's shenanigans. I love to hang at the beach with DH (darling hubby) taking pictures or reading romance novels (what else?). I have a slight Tim Hortons obsession, enjoy gardening, everything pink, and talking to my friends.”
The Player is the second book in the Men of WarHawks series by Jacquie Biggar. This was such an enjoyable read. It had a little bit of everything- it was fun, sexy, and sweet. Then sprinkled with some drama, suspense, tension, and mystery that had me turning the pages, avidly reading, just to see how everything would play out. This is such a well woven story about finding love unexpectedly. It is a quick and easy read that hooked me right from the get-go. When a crazy, stalker ex gets Roy sidelined from his beloved NHL- the only way to get back in the game is to allow sexy PA, Patience Kennedy, to help. With her PR know-how she’ll have him back in the game in no time. Right? I really did love this story- and as always, I can count on Ms. Biggar to deliver the goods! Definitely well worth the read! Can’t wait to see what Ms. Biggar has in store for us next!
I felt bad for Roy and what Olivia was doing to him. Roy’s life is hockey and he is a great player. If you read the first book, then you know the Warhawks had some bad publicity in the last book. Olivia is a mental, obsessed woman who wants Roy. She makes so many false accusations about Roy, the management puts him on leave until a PR firm can clean up his image. I loved that Patience (who is his PR contact) grew up with three brothers and knows how to handle men. I don’t think she realizes how attractive she is. I loved Roy and Patience’s chemistry. There are some crazy things happening that put Patience in harm. This is a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
A book filled with sass, suspense, and spice. Roy Donaldson loves hockey but is benched. Enter, Patience Kennedy to help Roy, and all her patience is needed to do her job. The couple's attraction is hot. Wonderful Characters and a well-developed plot.
The Player is the 2nd book in the Men Of WarHawks series by Jacquie Biggar. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. I had not read the first book before reading this although I had read other work by this author. I will be going back to read the first book now as I really enjoyed this one. Roy Donaldson is a top NHL player whose career has taken a bit of a dive due to a psycho ex-girlfriend spreading lies about him. To help his career, his team bring in sassy PA Patience Kennedy to sort him out. Just what he wants, another woman trying to organise him! This book flows quickly and keeps you gripped to the story by adding elements of humour, romance, drama etc. The very first meeting between Roy and Patience in the locker room, when he thinks she’s a reported looking for a story, is particularly funny. The book was much more dramatic than I had anticipated. Jacquie Biggar does a fantastic job of writing the dramatic scenes with the psycho ex as everything comes to a dramatic conclusion. Added to the drama is the attraction between Roy and Patience. She is the total opposite of everything he’s ever looked for in a woman but he can’t help his growing attraction and feelings towards her, some of which adds to the humorous element of the story, particularly when Patience’s older brothers are added to the fun and games. I’d definitely recommend this book to others.
The tables get turned in this tale of a superstar male hockey player plagued by a female stalker. Roy Donaldson has everything going for him, except an ex-girlfriend who doesn’t know how to let go. When she does everything she can to cast him in a bad light, a public relations representative steps in to repair the unjust damage to his image.
Enter Patience Kennedy, the single daughter in a family with four brothers who knows zilch about sports, but plenty about people. When the two retreat to Roy’s home in the woods to work on strategy, sparks fly. Actually, sparks fly from the first meeting between these two, and it’s fun to watch their attraction run from frustration to simmer to bloom. Toss in a stray orange tabby and you’ve got a feel-good formula destined to bring an HEA. But reaching that point presents a path twined with danger and suspense.
Jacquie Biggar mixes all the right ingredients, even touching on mental illness and family relations both good and bad. The author’s breezy writing, witty observations and dialogue are a pleasure to read. Many times, I stopped to marvel at a particular turn of phrase or reread a section for sheer enjoyment. I’ve enjoyed everything Ms. Biggar has written. She is a skilled author who knows her craft, but The Player may just be my favorite to date. What a feel-good gem!
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar, is the story of Roy who made a bad decision in the female department and now it is affecting his game when this stalker won’t leave him alone. Patience who is a PR person and is hired to make Roy look good after a crazy ex tries to get him back but destroying his game in the process. What neither of them expect is the lengths she will go to and what they find with each other. I really enjoyed this story and would have loved more.
Hockey player, Roy Donaldson, is a beast on ice where he dominates the sport. That all changes when an ex-girlfriend and/or stalker makes trouble for his team, he’s benched. The only way to get back in the game is to accept help from his PA, Patience Kennedy. In this book, the two form an unlikely bond by helping and assisting one another through their most difficult time. The two help one another in unexpected way as this one has your heart skipping a beat as this steamy and suspenseful book hits you to the core.
The Player was a short book/story that I thought would be the same old story of a girl seeing a really cute hockey player then dating but after getting further into it, I loved it. It involved around the world of a hockey player his PR person and a stalker. Roy and Patience are gonna be a great couple and the connection that had from the start, ooo. But overall great read. Can’t wait to read more by Jacquie Biggar.
So much tension from having to take precious time off to a crazy ex-girlfriend smearing his name and endangering his new interest. You will love this story, a real page turner.
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar.
This book is the second book of the Men of WarHawk series. I seem to be on a hockey kick when it comes to books lately since this is the third I've read recently. Which is funny because I'm not a hockey fan, but I have seen some of the players and really think I need to give it a try again.
Here we meet Roy and Patience. He's a hockey player with a crazy stalker and she's the personal assistant assigned to fix his reputation with the press.
I ended really liking this story, but it took me a little bit to warm up to Roy, though I liked Patience immediately. As I got further into the book I learned a little more about Roy and why he is the way he is. He has dealt with some pretty rough times in his life.
Patience was easy to like. She had a pretty ideal childhood with both parents and three older brothers around. Well, I'm sure having that many older brothers wasn't ideal.
I enjoyed this story and will be keeping up with this series.
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar was a good 4 star read.
Roy is a hockey player who needs a little help. During a game his crazy ex made a scene that is causing issues for him on the ice. When his GM tells him to take a break for a couple of weeks he meets Patience, his new PA.
Patience is looking to be a partner and helping Roy could get her what she’s wanted for a long time. She is very sassy and something about her calls to Roy. When she goes with Roy to his cabin they grow closer and they find a new furry friend.
Things take a dangerous twist when Roy’s ex shows up. Can they find her before she does anything to harm them?
Overall this was a good read, I really like Patience and her sassiness. Roy was a hot hockey player. You won’t get any hot and steamy scenes but you can feel their attraction coming off the pages. I wouldn’t mind seeing more from these two as they move forward in their lives. If you are looking for a clean fun romance this is the book for you. 1-click and get started today.
The Player is the second installment of the Men of WarHawks series from Jacquie Biggar. This book is full of the things we love about Biggar’s writing! I loved how this book kept me on the emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end and was so much fun to read the whole time. The best part is this was such a short fast read that it occupied a rainy afternoon perfectly! The cover is a great depiction of that fun love that happens when a couple finds that perfect balance in the end. It was just a clean sweet read. The concept brings us a sexy bachelor NHL player to drool over, Roy. He finds himself on the sidelines of the game he loves when a crazy stalker ex comes back to haunt him and make life difficult. He never knew what was coming when he was paired with the sexy and sassy Patience Kennedy. She knows how to save a personal reputation and is bound and determined to find that for Roy again. When sparks fly though things tend to get a bit interesting!
This is the second book in this series and the best yet. This is an author I never hesitate to pick up. Her books are well developed stories that have something for every one and this one is no different. The characters bring the story to life and they pulled me in right from the beginning. Hockey is one of my favorite sports and I love reading about it plus romance is a great plus. In this book we have Roy who is a NFL player that has a stalker that causes some problems for him so he gets benched. It is Patience’s job to restore his image. Patience is determined to fix Roy’s image to get her partnership. What happens with them, you will have to read about. You don’t want to miss it. I highly recommend their story.
The Player by Jacquie Biggar is the second book in the Men of Warhawks series. This book is a stand-alone. This book is a highly entertaining book!! More than once I found myself smiling as I was reading about this book. There was just something about the characters that put me in a great mood. I loved reading about them and following them in their journey. The story was well developed and fun. I always enjoy this authors writing style, she has a way of creating a story that has a little bit of everything. I have very much enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.
The Player is a great love story but this one is a big more light hearted. World famous Ice Hockey star Rory is being harrassed by his ex who is spreading rumours about him and trying to ruin his reputation and his career. To help with his image to the public they hire PR Patience. This story will have you laughing at the things Rory gets up to. He seems to know how to push Patience buttons which along with his ex is making Patience's job a lot harder. Can Patience get his career and reputation bk on track or will his ex stop any efforts she makes.
Its a captivating story and you cant help but fall in love with the characters
The Player by Jacquie Biggar is the second book in the Men of WarHawks series and definitely worth reading if you love sports related romantic suspense books. Roy Donaldson is a popular NHL player who needs help improving his PR after dating the wrong woman and Patience is just the right person to help, but things just aren't that easy when you are dealing with a crazy ex-girlfriend, a sexy PR at your service and a stray cat. I'm looking forward to reading more books in this wonderful series!
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
This is a good story that Involves hockey, a feral cat and a crazy ex. All of those elements make for some fun times. I enjoyed Patience she is unsure of herself but doesn’t project that. She appears confident. The connection between these two was extra warm. Those kisses could really have went somewhere if not for that cat. The drama with the psycho ex was scary at how true it could be.
I liked this but I wish there was more. More in-depth characters, more banter with the team and more run ins with her brothers/family.
A charming story! I really enjoyed reading this latest book from Biggar. Patience resonated loudly with me and I loved watching her interact with Roy. The book moved very quickly for me and was truly enjoyable from beginning to end. This is an author that all romance lovers should pick up. Great characters and great relationship development. Truly loved it.
Biggar delivers a lot in a concise romantic suspense book. Great characters and a well written story that includes a few twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. I recommend this book to fans of the romantic suspense genre.
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) By Jacquie Biggar 5 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed reading The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar. It is a story that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let you go until the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Roy Donaldson and Patience Kennedy. Roy is a man who loves the game of hockey. He has been put on hold because of the actions of his ex-girlfriend turned stalker. What is his next move? It is up to Patience to be Roy’s personal assistant and to help him smooth out his image. It is a job she is good at. What could go wrong? As Patience sets out how they will repair Roy’s reputation she starts to have other feelings for Roy. What does the future hold for Roy and Patience? Will there be more trouble from Roy’s ex? Will Patience remake Roy’s image? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me smiling, laughing out loud, and also wondering what was going to happen next. The push and pull between Roy and Patience start almost immediately and is entertaining. They are both characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. I also enjoyed many of the other characters that were introduced and how they interacted with Roy and Patience. This is a story that had me wishing for a few more chapters. Highly recommended reading.
I'm not generally a fan of sports stories, but this one captured me on the first page! I didn't read the first book in the series, and didn't have any trouble following book two because of it. What I liked about The Player, was the heroine, Patience, was so much not a sporty person. In fact, she was a klutz and yet, she still managed to hold her own against Roy Donaldson, an NHL hockey player in need of a new image.
Roy doesn't think he needs a new image. He does think he needs to lose Olivia, his ex who doesn't agree she's his ex. He just wants to play hockey, but Olivia keeps blindsiding him with bad press, giving the team a worse look. The general manager of his team isn't okay with that, so, enter Patience, an 'image fixer' who is about as happy about fixing Roy's image as Roy is happy to be spending weeks with her.
Except, they both feel the draw between them and they both know it's a bad idea to do anything about it. As the suspense of Olivia's interfering grows, so does their relationship. Throw in a troublesome tabby cat and you have a well-rounded romance that you can't put down.
If you love sports romance with a touch of suspense that isn't filled with bedroom scenes and unrealistic plots, you'll love The Player! I can't wait to go back and read book one!
Roy Donaldson, defenseman for the Victoria WarHawks Hockey Team, has been stalked in the media by his former girlfriend. She has unfairly trashed his reputation which has caused him to be placed on leave from the team. In addition, he has been assigned a personal assistant, Patience Kennedy, to improve his image to his fans. He unwilling accepts Patience’s help with social media and finds himself oddly attracted to her. Patience has three older brothers and is not shy about standing up to Roy. Patience is the girl next door with a spine of steel ready to defend Roy when his former girlfriend plans further attacks. This second book in the series is an enjoyable and fun read with a touch of danger. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
What I realize is that Cabin of his draw more problems than anything lol. I am wondering what guy is next from the team! & what women about to change him for the better.
I was glad they got Olivia. That lady was crazy and needed some serious help. Even her brother thought she needed it. I kept thinking it was going to be her brother Mike who turn her in because he knew she wasn’t right in the head.
You could tell she was off her knockers (e.g., her mind wasn’t all the way there; and have a problem of a psycho). Smh 🤦🏽♀️ , she kept hurting her brother just because he wouldn’t help or didn’t want to help. He told her she was going to jail, and that more likely what happened unless she went to a mental ward. Who knows... I guess her brother is okay, too, since it didn’t mean he did die. I was hoping he was okay...
I also knew that Patience (I have no idea what type of name is that), and Roy was going to end up falling for each other in those one-half/two weeks that they were staying in his grandparents cabin. Also, a cat always ends up in the Cabin 🤣... like first Cleo (though, that was Mac cat) now Roy and Patience ended up with an orange fur-ball by the name of Trouble, aka Thomas.
This romantic suspense drew me immediately into the story of Roy Donaldson , a hockey player with a crazy ex-girlfriend who was stalking him and ruining his career with lies. I enjoyed Roy's first encounter with his new PR rep, Patience Kennedy in his locker room believing her to be a new reporter. It was quite funny.
The story had wonderful characters, a cute stray cat ad a lot of suspense as the police tried to catch Olivia, Roy's ex-girlfriend and stalker who was in many violations of his restraining order. I liked the chemistry between Roy and Patience and I especially liked the ending. This is a book that I would definitely read again. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
The Player by Jacquie Biggar is book 2 of her, ‘ Men of Warhawkes’ series about a successful NHL Hockey team. Defenceman Roy Donaldson lives and breathes hockey so when an ex girlfriend turned stalker causes trouble for the team he is not happy. He’s even less impressed when he gets benched and so turns to PA Patience Kennedy for help. In order for Patience to receive a junior partnership she must restore Roy’s reputation, however she thinks Roy is moody and annoying, oh, and very attractive. Roy thinks Patience is sexy but sassy. The chemistry between them shows from their first meeting and grows each time they are together resulting in some steamy scenes. I loved the characters and the storyline flowed nicely. This was a nice mix of drama and romance which kept me happily turning the pages. I look forward to reading further ‘Men of Warhawks’ books.

Oohhhh I love a good sports romance so when I noticed this book by an author whose work I really enjoy I couldn’t wait to get started and I wasn’t disappointed at all! It was full of sass, romance and lot of spiciness!! This story definitely had me laughing my way through it! The banter between Roy and Patience certainly kept me entertained from beginning to end; they definitely knew how to rub each other up the wrong way!! Right from the very beginning they just didn’t get on but it didn’t take long to see that there was going to be something there between them – I know I was rooting for them the whole way through! I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future – she has a wonderful writing style that makes her books a real pleasure to read! I definitely recommend The Player!!
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar. I love a book that has so much to offer readers and this one has that it’s a perfect mix of suspense, romance drama and more. Roy and Patience definitely hooked me from beginning to end. Their chemistry jumps off the pages and I enjoyed my time with them. Each character brings something unique to the storyline. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I was completely drawn in and hooked. I found myself trying to both read as fast as possible to see what happens next to trying to slow down because I didn’t want it to end. This author knows what keeps readers hooked. I loved every minute of it. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!
The Player by Jacquie Biggar was a great short story! I loved the writing, and the starting relationship dynamic between Patience and Roy. Their chemistry flew off the pages! Full of more suspense than I expected, I couldn't put this story down! I also found some pretty funny humor to be between the pages as well. I loved reading this story, this was the second I've read from Biggar and I wasn't disappointed! I highly recommend and can't wait to read more from her!
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar
5-Stars
The Player (Men of WarHawks Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar was an easy and light romantic read. This book helped me escape from reality for a time and I could not put it down. I loved the fun characters and sweet cat. They were realistic and relatable. Patience was my favorite character. I loved her spunk, wit, and determination.
I also enjoyed the flow of the story. It was organized well and kept me interested. There was never a dull moment especially since crazy Olivia was involved. She was not my favorite but made an excellent antagonist for this story. This book overall had great plot and climax. I really enjoyed how it ended. I highly recommend it.
