My Friends and Me by Pat Thomas, Illustrator- Lesley Harker- Hindi Translation by Arvind Gupta- Children’s Illustrated Colour picture Book- The book narrates the importance and quality of friends. Children meet other children at school, at parks, in their neighbourhood. With time children get close to some and separate from others. Their qualities are compassion for each other, kindness, not permitting them to do such things which would make them feel wrong before their parents, communicating with each other during time of anger and happiness, positive thinking. For parents, it is necessary to watch their children and their friends and suggest your opinion only if necessary. Parents are transferred from one city to another, thus, children separate from their friends. Elder children keep in touch with their friends through emails, chats and other means of communication. In a classroom, a project work can be done by children about how they have made friends, their sad and happy experiences can be shared. Coloured illustrations help the reader to relate to the story. I have read the Hindi language translation of this book.
