I feel like I've kind of cheated on my 2016 challenge by reading this poem because it is only 39 pages long, but I had to read it for an essay so I thought why not rate it!
I came across this poem through an essay by John Ruskin where Ruskin initially seems to criticise the poem because it is simply incorrect (he focuses on the crocus on page 9, which is "not a spendthrift but a hards plant" and which "yellow is not gold, but saffron" but he goes on to explain that even though it is not correct,

Although mainly known as a poet, Holmes wrote numerous medical treatises, essays, novels, memoirs and table-talk books.
