Sometimes it takes an outsider to force us to see who we are. The real struggle is accepting what we learn.

For Beverly Townsen, nothing could be closer to the truth. Virtually a shut-in, Beverly has pulled back from Green Valley’s community, preferring the isolation of her farmhouse and her daily routine of viewing home improvement television shows. When the opportunity ar

This is the hashtag-me-too era, buddy… You can’t just reach out and touch someone.

I’d believed all kinds of things about Howard. He’d love me forever. He’d make it good for me. He’d take care of us. An iron skillet of reality upside the head had finally made me see the light and realize Howard’s true nature. He loved women—all kinds of women—just not the one labeled his wife.

I called her Bee as I was leaving because the name is fitting. Her tongue stings like the pesky pollinator
In a time that I'm in a terrible reading slump and barely reading, Love in Deed was the perfect distraction I needed. This book has so many layers. And instead of a second chance romance, this is a book about second chances in general, where it is never too late to learn to love and forgive yourself.

When I read snippets of Beverly in Love in Due Time I thought she was so bitter. I didn't know how a book where she is the protagonist could possibly work. But L. B Dunbar does a brilliant job of let

This series is one of the few that keeps getting better by the book. Dunbar uncaps her mighty pen and writes a book that hits bullseye straight on readers hearts. Sensitively handling a touchy subject, she has created characters that you sympathize with and then fall in love with ultimately.
We met Beverly as Naomi Winter's immobile sister in Love in Due Time. She's dejected, broken, scarred and abandoned and stuck in the rut of Shattered life. Her stick is firmly in the mud.

I have been dying for this book since being introduced to Beverly and Jedd in Love in Due Time. This book was everything. I loved that it featured an older grouchy heroine and learning about her background. She was destroyed when her husband left her and felt completely worthless which slowly turned her into a hostile shut in. Jedd shows up wanting to use her land to farm horses and turns her world upside down. I love the way he never shied away from her and was always able to see what

I cannot remember the last time I finished a book and thought “I can’t wait to re-read this, actually, I want to read it again right now!” And that’s pretty much the best way to sum up ”Love In Deed”. I could not set it down and I cannot wait to read it again.

This story was everything. It was flawless.

I feel like I’m going to fail to effectively review it, I could never cover all the things that made this story so touching, but I will try.

I could barely get started on this one before I put it away for good. The main character’s self pitying mindset just rubbed me the wrong way. I can definitely see having to take a couple of years to get yourself together after a bad marriage and your own self destructive behaviour destroys your life but to hang on to if for close to 20 years was too much. Not for me.

One word to describe this book: Flawless. LB Dunbar somehow manages to write about real characters that are perfectly imperfect and sexy as hell! This is the book you will go to and read over and over again. There were several moments in the book when I felt butterflies in my stomach over the words and emotions coming off the page. I’m already a fan of this author, and this is my favorite book she’s written to date! I would give it 10 stars if i could.

This would have been a DNF if not for being a smartypants romance book and part of the library series. I really wanted to like this book but Beverly just made me so pissed off- I stopped reading many times. She was so bitter and nasty, I can't image just giving up and letting your kid do everything especially since I'm at the same age when it happened- Its hard but come on! I couldn't get pass this and just how mean/nasty she was to her daughter and Jedd. Also the writing made it seem she was 65 ...more
this is a book about Hannah Townsen's mother and all readers of Winston's brothers are familiar with her character.. ( I like her btw in that series and here and I am excited about her story)
but this book oh boy..
I would definitely dnf if not being a book for a challenge and it was on audio...
the heroine is in 20 years long bitter poor me attitude.. I can sympathize with her but eventually, enough is enough.. her behavior is appalling and I don't know if I should care more because of her situa

I love that this is a more seasoned coupling!
I didn’t like how it draggggggged but the story over all was a good one and I really enjoyed getting to see Bee come out of her shell and stand up to her well-meaning daughter.
Jedd I didn’t really trust I knew he was keeping something from us and when we find out it makes the story more interesting that is for sure.
Loved the narration.

Our introduction to Beverly (in Naomi's book) was initially less than flattering. As it turns out, she has her reasons for being sharp and prickly and pushing people away before they can get close enough to hurt her. Throw in the accident that she never really came to terms with in a healthy way and you have a woman simmering in self-hatred.

But...BUT Beverly is slowly finding her way back to herself. It's not an easy journey. She has to realize what's holding her back before she can start moving

I was an emotional wreck when I finished reading “Love in Deed.” Every page was filled with deep emotion, the struggle of dealing with physical pain and the joy of finally finding someone who truly understood you. L.B. Dunbar has outdone herself with this amazing and powerful book. I read it twice because I needed to experience again, the beautiful reawakening of Beverly and the encouraging and loving affection Jedd had for her.

Beverly Townsend has lost her way, Jedd Flemming needs land to raise horses, but he knows the truth about her land! What will Beverly do when she finds out truth about said land? Will Beverly and Jedd get their happily ever after when all heck breaks out? To find out you need to read this awesome book!!

I felt this story to the bottom of my soul.

There’s so much to appreciate and be in wonder of, I don’t think I know how to review …..

I don’t even know where to begin with this story. Do I tell you about Beverly’s spirit so torn and dejected she is walking her life path with no purpose or thought? Maybe I tell you about Beverly’s submission to live in the shadows, immobile and listless. That sounds dreadful doesn’t it?! Well, it happened. Until … Jedd Flemming :) But Jedd didn’t come along bag

I don’t know if I can even put into words how much I loved this story. Beverly & Jedd both have past pain in their lives. They’ve had to learn to over come their disabilities...well, Jedd has been able to move on but Bev hasn’t really begun to until she meets this man. He helps show her she’s much more than her disability and can do whatever she sets her mind to. It’s a beautiful love story and so much more! Thank you for an amazing story.

This was another second chance romance/mature character story as with the first by this author in the series, Love in Due Time. It was the sister of the main character in that book, Naomi Winters. And like other books in the SmartyPants universe, Green Valley Chronicles we were lucky enough to get time with those other characters as well. I liked that this book’s timeline overlapped a bit with that one, so that we got to see some outside views of Naomi’s romance as well.

I think this is the best book that LB has ever written.

Beverly and Jedd are the real deal. Jedd helps Bev see that loss doesn’t have to keep you down. And the growth in her confidence and their relationship is beautiful to read about.

It’s fun to read about a grouchy heroine for a change and Bev’s tongue is as sharp as her heart is soft.

It was great that Bev’s sisters are growing closer as well and I’m looking forward to Scotia’s story next.

Loved it!!

LB Dunbar is a wonderful writer so that is not the problem I had reading this, unfortunately I just had a really hard time connecting and empathizing with the hero and heroine of this story enough to give it more stars. Both Beverly and Jedd have been through some really awful events in their pasts leaving them both physically scarred and Beverly severely emotionally scarred. Normally this would make me really be in their corners rooting for them. But there were some things they both said and di ...more

‘Jedd shifts his muscular body in my direction again and stares at me, taking a long moment to look at my hair and my eyes, then travel down my nose and land on my lips.

“What’re you looking at?” I snap, feeling stripped naked before him. My hair blows in the fall breeze, and my neck feels the whisper of the next season approaching. I shiver with the wind, but it’s really his appraisal causing the tremble.

After meeting Bev and Jedd in Love in Due Time, I was hoping they’d get their own HEA at some point down the road, so I was thrilled when it was announced that they were the focus of this book and boy did they take me on one hell of a ride. All the feels happened and then some, some of which had me wanting to reach through the Kindle and Gibbs smack both Bev and Jedd a time or two dozen. But, regardless of which emotion they were pulling out of me,

Love In Deed is the heartbreaking journey of forgiveness, finding yourself again and a reawakening of the mind, body and soul. Jedd is a silver fox with a heart of gold. He is back in his old town to make go of a business . Beverly is a woman that has been down a rocky road and is filled with doubt and hurt. She is broken, has been pushed aside and lied too. Trusting someone is not going to come easy. This is a tale filled with so many hidden truths and mystery . An old town is certainly full of ...more

This book is AMAZING. I jumped into the series without reading any other books. This is book 6 in a multi-author series. L.B. Dunbar writes book one and now number six. I honestly had no idea what I was diving into when I picked up this book. I know I like L.B.'s writing style and have truly enjoyed a few of her other books.

When introducing the main female character (Beverly/"Bee"), you are put off by her actions and behaviors. You can feel the loneliness and pain radiating from this character a

I love this book. It is a story of resilience and hope. This author took a character who had seemed unredeemable and showed us how beautiful and vulnerable she really was inside.

Love in Deed is the newest Smartypants Release, part of the Green Valley Library Series and the continued story of the Winter Sisters. This is the tale of Naomi’s sister Beverly, whom we met in LB Dunbar’s prev release Love in Due Time. Overall this is an enjoyable read as you follow the tale of Beverly’s personal journey from what was probably the lowest point in her tough life at a young age to recovery of her own belief in herself and her capabilities. We got a glimpse of Beverly and Jedd in L.B. Dunbar's Love in Due Time. I was wondering about Beverly how she became a recluse of sorts. She had a tough time with her ex and everything in between.

This felt longer in a way but it's good that it developed Beverly's character. We saw her change gradually from angry, hurt and sad to slowly opening up. Jedd I feel helped her with his patience. Of course there was also her daughter Hannah and their relationship how it changed.

Jedd had a past of his o
