Ever since Beckett Dustwick walked into my life, I’ve only wanted one thing…him. To bad he doesn’t feel the same way. Our soulmate mark tells me we are destined to be together an important fact he lied about. But a broken heart won’t stop me from showing him exactly what I think. He may have started this game, but I will finish it.
Our enemies are growing in number with each passing moment. And the fight for the warlock council has never be more dangerous. It’ll take all of the heirs to bring them down along with their mysterious benefactor. We’re in the fight of our lives and I want to turn to Beckett, to trust him. But he’s been lying to me in a big away and I’ve learned the hardest lesson of all. In the end…everyone lies.
When I find a series that I absolutely love I wait and wait and wait some more for the next book to come out. I swear I read them way too fast. Wicked Lies is the 3rd book in the series and as usual I dove head first into the book didn’t want to put it down. Astrid finds herself in a pickle... well several to be exact, but they really aren’t her pickles, it’s those around her that lie. Once the lies start coming out, there isn’t any stopping them. BUT, sometimes those lies are there for good reasons.
Megan writes this installment beautifully. She captures the feelings. And man we’re there feelings!! Oh and the funny lines!! Here is my favorite... “I can just do it,” Astrid offered. “But first, I was thinking about something. Are we sure Damiel didn’t have some kind of spell on him to make him look like he was lying there longer? Is that even possible?” Nah, not the kind of magic that’d take. Not possible.” Ophelia tapped her finger to her bottom lip. “But I’d like to find out.” I shook my head. “You would.” I loved this girl with everything I am, and here she was, wanting to figure out how to make a dead body look deader.” You need to get this book!!!
Oh man. The sheer anguish, anger, and torment that you experience while reading Wicked Lies is so real! You feel every emotion in this book. One minute you're laughing out loud with the potter references and "glittery fun" and the next minute you're grabbing the tissues because your heart has been ripped out of your chest and stomped on.
With so many secrets, lies and betrayal you never really know who you can trust. Get comfortable, Wicked Lies is one hell of a ride that will captivate you and leave you begging for more!!
Wicked Lies (The Royals: Warlock Court Book 3) is the third book in the second “season” of The Royals. At the end of Wicked Queen, Beck and Grayson are sent home to sort out their houses (warlock and vampire) this is Beck’s story. While you don’t have to start with the first set of books, I highly recommend it. There will be spoilers from the first season as well as the first two books in this season, Wicked Omen and Wicked Wish in this review- consider yourself warned. Astrid’s life is going well, pretty great. She is in a school to learn her powers, which are getting stronger. Her human bestie, Tilly is with her- the first human ever at Warlock Academy. She has a soulmate, that is keeping their bond a secret. So maybe her life isn’t so great after all. Why would her soulmate want to keep her a secret? As the saying goes Hell has no fury as a woman scorn, look out Beckett! Speaking of looking out, the warlock council is making a power play. Will the heirs be able to stop them? The friendship of Astrid, Tilly and Ophelia grow into a beautiful trio of girl power. One hundred percent adore how they are always willing to support the other. Ophelia has no clue what Beckett did to earn Astrid’s wrath; she just knows that Astrid is hello kitty pissed. She jumps to help Astrid with her revenge all the same. Speaking of revenge- our girl sure is creative! I mean, the things that Beckett endures well it would make a wicked warlock proud. Beckett has a lot going on. The pressure of being the heir that leads the others is getting to him. He has no clue why his soulmate is angry with him. The warlock council is trying to ensure that they stay in power forever. The fallen cannot help him, thanks to the rules. So, the ultimate decision on how to respond to the council is up to him. The other heirs: Cross is in his happy place, beside Ophelia. Man is whipped and it shows, since they deserve their happy ending no one minds too much. They both bring their A game to the fight. Logan is well Logan. Sometimes he is MIA, I mean dude is dating a warlock. Maze steps up to a whole new level of wicked. He is one powerful warlock! I think honestly, he broke me this time as in I had to step away from the scene, pop some popcorn and take a deep breathe kinda break. What he sees, relives over and over again, a lesser man would not have responded his way. Tears formed, hand over mouth how the heck will they fix this? So many questions… This one hits the ground running and you do not stop! Be prepared to feel all the feels, ALL THE FEELS because the heirs all bring it this time. The raw emotions that this book provokes will have you sitting with goosebumps on your arms, your hands shaking and tears- yes actual tears-in your eyes. The pop culture references sprinkled throughout the book will make any fangirl/boy heart burst with happiness. That ending, what a wicked ending it is. It will leave you stunned, blinking, thinking what the actual-there is no way it ends here. It does, and the link to the next one says it won’t be here until October.
My Rating 5 stars out of 5 stars
Favorite Quote “He bleeds, so technically I can kill him.”
Other People Maze- one of the five founding bloodlines of the warlock court, physic Tilly- Astrid’s human bestie Orin- demon cat Cross- one of the five founding bloodlines of the warlock court Ophelia- she is still my favorite

Astrid is tired of Beckett keeping secrets from her.
Secrets that involve her.
It's time she shows him what he is missing.
Meanwhile the council is trying to control the academy and gather power.
Beckett has to face those responsible for one of the darkest moments of his past: the loss of his mother.
Council vs Heirs.
Dark forces are at play.
The time is of the essence.
A major discovery might be the answer to their problems, if the heirs can get to it before the council manages to get control.
They will have to put their differences aside and work together to prove themselves and save their people.

Notes:
Side characters:
I do love Ophelia, with her not-very-thought-through crazy homicidal lines and Cross, the brute who loves his sunshine crazy, and Maze, the loner who is a different type of loopy and the food pit, even if Maze in this book Maze does need to be shaken because he seems to be going the unneeded overdramatic, non-talkative route as well.
🔸 Too easy
In spite of all the dramatics, everything is too easy. The only problems they face, in this series as a whole, are ones made from their own immaturity and dramatics. The supposed problems, the plot, are resolved very easily, with no major difficulties, almost by chance and on the first try and without mistakes.
Immature characters & Unrealistic behaviour (especially the MCs):
🔸 Immature, stubborn and lack of communication
I don't know if it is to create unneeded drama or if the author does think these behaviours belong to leaders who are teenagers.
But, in my opinion, it just seems immature.
These are people who are incapable of communicating, being honest with each other and hearing others' opinions.
They prefer to stew on it, make stupid decisions just to do the opposite of what they are told, throw tantrums, get revenge, provoke jealousy, be immaturely hurtful, be stubborn and convict of their own rightness than trying to understand the other's point of view and compromising.
They do not think about their actions. How can they believe they can act in the best interests of a whole species, be their leaders?
One thing is to be playful and joke around, be funny. Another completely different is to act like a bunch of spoiled children and being unable to talk and compromise, think rationally.
It is just sad... and laughable.
Example: Astrid's pranks. Astrid & Beckett's passive-aggressive relationship Tilly's influence The heirs showing/telling the council their plans, bragging and giving them the opportunity to prepare Not investigating nor keeping their enemies, the council, under watch, especially when the heirs know the council is not what it seems. Instead they let them go as they wish.
🔸Warlocks & Academy
Each time there are less and less scenes of Astrid going to classes.
For someone that needs to learn, attendance seems to be unimportant.
But she still does everything instinctively, with no effort.
🔸Lack of foundations and proper explanations
- difference between species and their powers
- limits of their powers: it does seem like they can do the same things sometimes
- inconsistent behaviour: sometimes they can do some things other times they can't, sometimes they are the one more powerful but then they are not.
- everyone keeps saying Astrid has to learn and train but they constantly keep her from going to class and never teach/help her
- I haven't read Wicked Hunt. And, because it was focused on Ophelia and Cross, it seemed irrelevant to the plot. But no, while reading Wicked Lies, it felt there was quite a bit of missing information.
- lot of characters, some from different series: gets confusing
- Maze going to his family for nothing & for someone who knows how powerful his magic is and works, seems to forget it
- Penny: she was trapped, alone, for centuries, but is so well adjusted. Doesn't seem very likely. And isn't she supposed to be all that powerful? So why doesn't she help the heirs? If she wants her place, why not take charge?
Overall, a bunch of immature reactions to things and a lot of lack of communication. Some things are not properly explained which leads to confusion and a messy story.

As always my complete respect for the author and their work. No hate nor hurt intended with this review.

Astrid is trying to make Beckett pay for lying to her. She is pulling pranks on him. She is pulled towards to him. She is also happy that Tilly is there. She is learning her power. The Heirs are supposed when Beckett's Father comes back in the picture. This leads to them having to fight against the council, they have 5 days to do so. They come up with a plan for what needs to be done. Not everyone is on board with it. Astrid plans to to see what teacher will be able to help. Things get alot worse with between her and Beckett. Things seem broken. Then they plan to go to a club, where things get even worse. Maze's worst fear comes true.
There is so much to this story that I can't even go into tiny details for fear of giving spoilers. This is non-stop action with the fight with the council, the problem with Astrid and Beckett and add in Tilly to the mix. I am still not a fan of the character Tilly, she doesn't really do anything for me. Will see what happens next with her. There are so many reveals and the ending was mind blowing. Recommend reading this book
I received an ARC copy of this book , i am leaving a voluntary and honest review of this book.
This book had everything action, adventure, soulmates, deadly scenarios, & shapeshifters. Astrid is still mad at Beckett for lying to her about the soulmate mark. She is all spit and venom! She plays the most hilarious pranks on him. Poor Beckett has so much stress from other things going on he doesn't need Astrid fighting him too. Things get harder for Beckett when an evil person suddenly appears and helps the council challenge him & his friends for the council seats. They need someone to help them get the votes they need to secure their take over. What will they do? Does Ophelia have a dangerous plan to help with the situation? Will Beckett win the heart of Astrid and put the pranks to bed for good? And where is Maze disappearing to all the time? What vision does he keep having that has him willing to give up everything? This book was amazing and the characters are growing so much. I love the new character Pendolyn! I can't wait for Wicked Curse! This book does end in a cliffhanger.
Wicked Lies (The Royals: Warlock Court Book 3) ~~ Wicked Lies lives up to its title in every way—this book is full of betrayal, emotional torment, and plot twists I didn’t see coming. Astrid is DONE playing games. After being hurt and lied to, she begins to reclaim her power and demand answers, even if it means going head-to-head with Beckett.
And speaking of Beckett… the angst in this book? Off. The. Charts. He’s trying to protect her in all the wrong ways, and Astrid’s heartbreak is so raw, I felt it in my chest. We also see new sides to the other heirs, especially Maze, and the politics of the Warlock Court grow more twisted.
The final few chapters had me on the edge of my seat—and then that cliffhanger hit. I absolutely loved this book and this series!! ❤️🔥🖤
Megan Makes You Feel All the Emotions With This One!!
At one point in this book my heart literally hurt, yet I kept reading. Boy am I glad I did!
You think you know the lies but are you ready for the lies you didn't see coming?
For those who want more Maze, Megan delivers. If you were wondering what Maze has going on in the basement, that question is answered and so much more!
And then you have Astrid and Beckett... Astrid is so upset at all the lies that she acts out. The lies of other effects her in a way that broke my heart.
Beckett is truly torn up about his lies and the reason he thinks he has to keep them. The curve ball Megan throws at him is truly surprising and definitely upsetting for him.
Can Astrid get over the lies? What is Maze hiding? Does Beckett have to lie some more? And who's butt is Ophelia kicking this time?
I love the book. What I don’t like about this season is all the potter/ lord of the rings/ game of thrones references sometimes I feel like I’m reading a fan fiction mix and match.
I can’t stand Astrid she is just a spoiled socialite and I understand she is a teenager but I find myself saying get you grip girl. Yes sometimes people keep things from you but not because they want to harm you and taking the “lies” like life and dead is just too childish.
My favourite character is still O I just love her for a teenager that has suffered so much she keep her head high and keep going in the best way.
I honestly have no words for how amazing this book is. I love the way Astrid's mind works and all the pranks she comes up with. It was great to have points of view from so many other characters in this book too and I love seeing them grow and develop as a team and family. One of my favorite things in this book is when O quotes White Christmas because I have wonderful memories of that movie and my sisters and I sing that song all the time! But the ending, ah man. It makes me love and hate Megan so much. I cannot wait for the next book.
Another 5 star book from Megan Montero. Absolutely loved all the revenge and playful banter Astrid did getting back at Beck. Still loved seeing all the characters from the first season popping in and helping when they are needed. All in all another great book in the series that ended way too soon. I need the next one now. Can’t wait to see what is going to happen with Tilly and the other characters.
So now Astrid, Beckett, Cross, Ophelia,Maze and Logan are in a world of trouble. Can they save the warlock world and join up with the Witch world? What impact will the Mother of all warlocks have now that the war is closer than ever? And just what has happened to Tilly? Only Odin knows, and he's not telling. I'm so glad today is release day for book four! Do yourself a huge favor and read these series!!!!
Great book, loads of twists that I would never have predicted.......awesome Megan!! Powered through this book in less that a day it was so good, I was right there with them in all the action and romance 😉 brilliantly written, cannot wait for the next book in the series.....
Ok so the wider series of books, I stumbled across by accident. I say accident, I probably should say fate! I rarely feel as engrossed in a series, in a story as I’ve felt with Wicked Lies. Ophelia and Cross are always entertaining but the chemistry between Astrid and Beck was just, wow!
This book kept me on my toes the whole time Astrid & Beckett are so cute. The ending in this one was epic its like I could picture every bit that was going on the magic flying through the air. If any one is wanting to start this series believe me they all r worth it amazing epic reads!
Guess who's back?! Astrid, Tilly, and O! Megan does not disappoint with this one! Astrid pranks the heck out of Beckett, and I mean he deserves it. Maze. The cliffhanger! 💀 So many things going on with this book! Can't wait for more!
I’m so sad I have to wait until October for the next installment! I can’t wait to find out more about Beckett and Astrid! There are so many unanswered questions! All in all it was an awesome book it definitely keeps you on your toes! I could not put it down!
Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling and action packed adventure filled with dangerous and magical charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and exciting turns of fate. Was a edge of your seat, hold on for dear life and could not put down read.
This was a great read that had me laughing and crying! I have just loved watching Astrid become stronger and more sure of herself! While the feelings between her and Beckett were immediate, they have never been easy. I have LOVED watching her make sure Beckett knows she can stand on her own but I can’t wait to see them come together as the formidable couple they should be! I don’t even know where to begin with Maze!! He doesn’t even know what Tilly is going to do to him and I cannot wait for that ride!!! Great job, Megan!! I am definitely waiting impatiently for more!!!
These characters are amazing! I’m completely in love with every last one of them. They’re going to win, I know it! What don’t we know yet?! Talk about a cliff hanger!
I like these magical books. The characters always make me laugh at some point. Storing female characters, that I love! I’ve really enjoyed being able to destress in this stressful world by emerging in this world.
Thus series just gets better and better with all the plot twists. I love the whole thing and can not wait to read more about this amazing world. It is a must read that you will never want to pit down.
Wow this book totally has you all over the place. Astrid is mad about being lied to by Beckette. Maze is trying to stop a vision and they are battling the interim council for their spots. There are some major twists.
The battle to be the Council is between the young heirs and the old followers of Alastair. Becketts' father reapears and Ophelia finds her aunt Penndolyn locked in a Ouji board by Alastair.
I love this series Astrid Beckett and the rest of the gang are awesome but gosh they really need some breathing room. They need time to grow into their lives and powers I hope they find their hea
Holy goddess of all lies that was some exciting shit . Beck and his protective BS . All these Damned secrets that everyone is keeping from each other.I cant believe what happened in this book especially the ending. I can’t wait for the next book.
