FROM CITY GIRL TO RUSTIC WOMAN... Married at twenty and thrust into homesteading overnight, a young woman's life is torn apart and rebuilt in the heartland of Mississippi. Nature is not so forgiving. The mind can be a mouse-trap. Having a roof over your head doesn't always mean being home. Paper Daisies is the breadcrumb trail of poetry that followed her all the way from c ...more

I’ve fallen in love with Camilles poetry!! The way she weaves words together is so beautiful and mesmerizing. Her prose reached deep into my soul and spoke gently to the bruised places. Every woman should experience Paper Daisies.

Paper Daisies felt like a peek into the poet's life and an evolution of thought as she grows and changes to fit into adulthood, married life, and the society she's now living in. It was a lovely collection. I particularly liked the poems "4th Wave Fem" and "Coming Together," which I thought were both particularly well written and spoke to me on a personal level. I also enjoyed the splash page images for some of the poems. They were almost like postcards left within the pages and gave the collect ...more

Paper Daisies: Poems from the House throws back curtains on windows to the heart of a young wife and mom learning to adapt from city life to rural life, but it's much more. The emotions that rise and fall throughout this collection touch life across places and persons and make their presence felt in any reader.

Two of my favorite poems: "Manic" and "Bipolar Ideas" tackle the tough issues of their titles and do so in a way that makes these struggles understandable for those who haven't had to face

If you like poetry that is lyrical and clever without being self-consciously so, then you will love Camille Myrick's Paper Daisies. The poems are unique and beautiful, and they are arranged so that with each succeeding poem the reader feels increasingly in tune with the poet and her take on what it means to be human. Never soppy or sentimental, Camille Myrick gives us poems in which we see ourselves and thereby take comfort in her words. We are not alone. We are understood. We can grow and chang ...more

A lovely little collection! What I love about poetry is how it speaks in different ways to different people. Poems I particularly enjoyed in Paper Daisies were “To Build A Fire”, “The Cool Aunt”, "4th Wave Fem", and “To All The Boys I Told I Loved”.

I also need to give special kudos to Camille for her cover art and interior illustrations: the cover artwork is absolutely gorgeous and the interior illustrations were a pleasant surprise.
