Oddly, I guess I thought that the 2nd book in the series would have shown some sort of maturing improvement for the author. I'm sorry to say that is not the case. There is a serious lack of knowledge with regard to law enforcement procedures, and more so with psychology.
If you are fine with an FBI agent who barely comes across as an uneducated Private Investigator, and is unacceptably immature for a highly educated and experienced FBI agent (she calls her superior by his last name - to his face, ...more

Amazing read
I am so in love with this series. The mysteries are written so smoothly and so complex that you have a hard time figuring out who done it. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out there’s a freaking twist that will change everything.
Emma is a great detective, who has been through a lot throughout her life. When an old flame calls asking for help Emma finds herself traveling back in time to a place that was full of fond memories, in search of missing children. What she doesn’t ...more

I was giving it 5 stars until about 80% in - now I’m giving it a 3.5/4. It was another quick, interesting read and overall a good storyline, but the ending just fell flat for me. It seemed unbelievable and was less interesting than the first book in the series. I’m definitely going to keep reading on though - I accidentally started reading the 3rd book before this one and am already hooked after the first couple chapters.

Not quite the level of suspense as 'The Girl in Cabin 13' , but I didn't expect lightening to strike twice so soon . Rivers is a great author is you enjoy being riveted to a thriller . I'll be starting #3 next week .Now back to Harry Truman ..

The horrors of Feathered Nest, Virginia left Emma Griffin with a feather in her cap for a job well done… and in department-ordered counseling.
Jake’s deception and betrayal have only added to the inner trauma Emma carries from her past. She’d probably be farther along in counseling… and recovery if she’d stopped trying to slam doors her therapist opens. But that’s Emma.
Vacation plans made to avoid her birthday get waylaid first by a party planned by Bellamy and Eric, then by a call from her past. ...more

This has been a good series so far. The writing style is easy to follow yet provides lots of twists and turns. Rivers gives us lots of probably suspects that we can zero in on and then usually provides some huge twist right at the end! I am excited to start book number 3 and am hoping to find some more info on this mystery person. I enjoyed learning more about Emma's past as we are brought back to a location known as home during this book. We meet Sam, the sheriff, who seems to be an ex boyfrien

This book kept me guessing the whole time! Then that ending - what?!? The narrator brought the story to life and kept me intrigued. The story flowed so easily that I almost listened in one sitting! A great listen for a long road trip because you won't want to stop listening!

This second book is better than the first. At least this time I didn't figure out who did it.

I adore this series so far. Emma is such a good character and Sam is definitely a fav. I’m so excited to read the rest of the series. I’ll probably read a random book before picking up book 3 just to space out the series. The only thing that made it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it got a little slow at times. The twist was great though I had an idea of it but not the exact way it was executed.

The second book in the Emma Griffin series - just as good of a read as the first! I really love Emma's character, and I think the balance of crime, mystery, and personal life is on point. Not super intense, but keeps you turning the page.

Chilling story, a must read
The vanishing kids storyline is well written and intriguing. I was kind of caught off guard by the perpetrator, never suspected the person. Emma does her job and helps an old friend/boyfriend try to find the missing kids. I think the best part of this book is all the chilling and creepy clues about someone watching Emma.

Once again, Rivers shoe horns in some slights on technology, this time e-readers, and an ill-fitting and under-developed romance that plagues our ever fumbling FBI agent. Predictably so, she follows a lucky hunch into the fray alone, without back, and with very little thought. Her investigation skills are still impeded by personal issues and jealousies, and still seem to lack what you would expect of an FBI agent. Later in the book, they discuss how young she was when she entered the Bureau and

Ok, Emma is tasked to help out a former boyfriend/Sheriff Sam Johnson when in her hometown a 10- year-old girl disappears. Soon, another child goes missing and with little to no clues to follow the pressure is on to stop what appears to be a serial kidnapper. When a death and cryptic clues turn up, Emma amps up her usual M.O. and goes out on her own to solve the mystery and save the children. There is plenty of action and suspense to keep you reading.
