The latest novel by Iris Johansen. In it, she introduces a new female character, Alisa Flynn.

Chaos begins with a school in Africa being taken over by a militia group. A man by the name of Masenak has taken over St. Eldon’s Academy for girls and has kidnapped many of the students. One of them is a girl by the name of Sasha Lawrence.

Sasha has an affinity for horses. Some might said she is a horse whisperer. After her capture, Masenak treats Sasha differently than the other girls. He wants Sas

Having read three connected series by Iris Johansen, Eve Duncan, Kendra Micheals and Catherine Ling, it was nice to meet a new protagonist,. This thrilling story does have a brief cameo by Eve Duncan and an extended role by Margaret Douglas. I am more than familiar with the brilliant horse whisperer as she was the primary protagonist in No Easy Target, and she was also in at least six of the Eve Duncan series titles, including Hunting Eve and Shadow Play.

However, this book introduces CIA

AHHHH!! I have loved Iris Johansen forever and am obsessed with her Eve Duncan series. But I was super excited to start a new series with new characters. Alisa Flynn and Gabe Korgan were amazing. Their chemistry was palpable but the amazing suspense in the story took the cake. What an amazing start to this series!

Iris Johansen is an amazing storyteller near and dear to my heart. I fell in love with her romantic suspense stories and never looked back. Alisa and Gabe were absolutely fabulous. I lo

Chaos is a thrilling ride. CIA agent Alisa Flynn is super talented, smart and confident in her abilities but not so great with feelings. Billionaire Gabe Korgan has a brain that never stops. He gets bored easily. These two need to work together if they don’t kill each other first. The chemistry between them is palpable. This is an incredible tale filled with non-stop action, moments of terrifying fear and an incredible conclusion. I’m looking forward to future adventures with these characters. T ...more

I'm not giving this book stars because I know it was an important, popular book, but I just didn't like it. I struggled along for 200 pages, but after that I just skimmed. I did read the ending -- from the horserace on. I was so disappointed in myself -- I've read a lot of her Eve Duncan books and loved them, but this one? it just wasn't for me. So sorry, Iris.

As with writers in long time series, each book becomes a boiler plate with minor changes. True to former books, the characters are arrogant and petulant. It gets old.

New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen brings us to billionaire Gabe Korgan’s mansion, where rogue CIA agent Alisa Flynn is caught breaking in. In a split-second decision, she attempts to persuade this brilliant mind to join forces with her to catch their mutual enemy, a scumbag named Jorge Masenak. Most recently, this son of a local crime boss has kidnapped students at St. Eldon’s Academy, a girls' school in Morocco where the daughters of many influential people attend.

The first in a new romantic suspense series by the author of the Eve Duncan novels. CIA Agent Alisa Flynn is quite the fearless and powerful heroine who finds her match when she meets good-looking and highly intelligent billionaire Gabe Korgan.

The plot is typical of the Iris Johansen style, and we even get one of the previous characters to feature as a support char, Margaret Douglas, whom we already know from No Easy Target.

Overall, a fun summer read. Full review at

I've read a few earlier books by this author and have enjoyed them so I was really excited when I heard about this one.....I know I just had to read it. And man oh man, I definitely wasn't disappointed. Chaos was exciting and thrilling. The characters were amazing and the storyline was unique & suspenseful. Couldn't put it down.

I was disappointed. I thought this story needed less chit chat between characters and a little more action.

Adrenaline-pumping, fast-paced, and suspenseful!

In this first instalment in the Alisa Flynn series, Chaos, Johansen has written an action-packed thrill ride that introduces the highly intelligent CIA Special Operative Flynn who with the help of her friend, the animal whisperer, Margaret Douglas, and the billionaire inventor, Gabe Korgan, is on the hunt for a group of mercenaries who have kidnapped a group of rich, young girls, a stable full of thoroughbred horses, and Alisa’s ward, Sasha Lawrenc

After 128 pages. I gave up. This book is too much like Eve Duncan’s books and are quite annoying. They are in a jungle and they are in tents and Maldava seems too much like locations in Eves books. The dialogue is the same as the Eve series. The characters argue non stop about who’s best to do something and try to control each other and from the first paragraph it’s about the sexual tension of the characters. Again much like the characters in Eves books. At this point I’m hoping that she doesn’t ...more

It is the same as all the other just with new characters. A strong wayward woman asking for help from a genius of a man with money. Why do I keep reading her books? I have no idea!

As reviewed at Roses Are Blue:

CIA agent Alisa Flynn is about to risk her job and her future to rescue a group of kidnapped girls, since the political climate has made it too hot for her employer to become involved right now. Alisa can’t wait since one of the girls is her fifteen year old ward, Sasha. The kidnapper, a mercenary named Masenek, is a powerful, elusive man, protected by his own small army. Alisa needs more information, and plans to obtain it by breaking into

It's been a while since Iris Johansen has introduced a new character, which is exactly what she has done in Chaos. CIA agent Alisa Flynn is beyond amazing and although she does not have a connection to Eve Duncan, at least not yet, she does have some connection to some previous characters from some of Iris Johansen's past books. In Chaos, you will be reintroduced to Margaret Douglas and CIA Agent Jed Novak. Margaret Douglas is an animal whisper and we were first introduced to her in No Easy Targ ...more

It's chaos literally as we forge through this madness and in the words of Iris," Cut off the heads of the snakes..."
This was a combo package with two different ideas: African girls in limbo and in desperate need of help along with Nisean horse and a racing horse named,"CHAOS."
You might wonder how on Earth do these two items combine for one fab read?
Glad you asked, as it relates to how these girls are being treated along with these horses as well as their living conditions and or lack of supporti

Fan...Freaking...Tastic. I love the stories that this author spins. They rivet me and make me beg for justice that only Iris Johansen can give. I bow to the Queen because this one delivers! This one had me way up past my bedtime!

What did I like? What a cast of characters... First we have Alisa Flynn, works for the CIA but woah....she has so many talents it’s impossible to list them all but they make her into a top notch agent. Gabe Korgan... billionaire but can get his hands dirty which is just

I am a HUGE Iris Johansen fan. When someone asks me what an Iris Johansen book is like I describe it as a mystery, thriller, with strong characters, twists of paranormal, and an intriguing storyline. The thriller is always unique with each book, the twists of paranormal are more on the psychic side then the werewolf side and the storylines always make the book unputdownable.

In this book, we meet Sasha and Alisa. There are both strong and willful female characters. Both have a background of hav

Chaos by Iris Johansen is a riveting read full of danger. The suspense was there on every page. Action-packed and well-crafted this novel made it to my top favorites list. A young woman needs help saving someone she cares about...and there's one man who has the things she needs to get it done. Both have this intense attraction that made the book more fun. The stakes have increased once they both were on the same team. Their enemies are going to pay...but first they have to say alive. I love Iris ...more

Girls are being captured for potential ransom money by a group led by Masenak, and the horses are to be captured for profit. The girls lives are on the line. We then go to rogue CIA agent, Alisa Flynn, who is caught breaking into a mansion in the middle of the night.

In a split second, she attempts to convince the millionare, Gabe Korgan, to help her save the girl

First off, Iris Johansen is a go to author for me. She never disappoints. Her storytelling always has me on the edge of my seat.

I was completely absorbed in this book. My heart wrenched for the school girls. Heads up- The details of their hostage experience are graphic and horrific. The tenacity of Alisa and her dedication in saving these girls at any cost pulled me in. I was engrossed from start to finish.

The criminal Masenak is evil and twisted. The atrocities he inflicts on his prisoner

Iris Johansen has written an action-packed thriller with dark overtones.

Chaos is an exciting tale about a young lady who is similar to Margaret Douglas, who in case this is your first Johansen book, has an affinity with animals. Sasha is especially close to horses. It is this circumstance unfortunately which lands her in the hands of killers and slave traders.

Coming to Sasha’s rescue is her self-assigned protectors CIA agent Alisa Flynn and animal whisperer Margaret Douglas. Alisa will do anythi

When Alicia Fynn ,CIA agent's, lands on the bookshelves again, I will be the first in line to get a copy. Johansen has created a terrific book with tension that is maintained throughout the whole novel. Alisa had a difficult life struggling against the vicissirtudes of her upbringing. This adversity created a woman with a tough shell inside and out. She is willing to go to great lengths to capture criminals, particularly the ones that abuse children and women. When she tries to steal information ...more

I can’t remember when I wasn’t a fan of Iris Johansen. So, when her new book arrived, “Chaos,” I stopped what I was doing and started reading. New characters. New storyline. What could be better?

It has it all. Hunky hi-tech billionaire. Sexy CIA agent. A unique dog. A special horse. Lives at risk. Time’s of the essence. I truly couldn’t put it down. Read through the night, and I so hope to see all these characters again. Then comes the but … the “ripped from the headlines plot” is a difficult on

It’s been a long time since I’ve read any romantic suspense and I don’t think I’ve read anything by Johansen before. Our main characters here are CIA agent Alisa Flynn and billionaire inventor Gabe Korgan. They both want to be in charge and while they bicker a lot, the attraction is clear. And that’s one thing that sometimes annoys me about romantic suspense: we’re in the grimy wilderness, desperate to stop the bad guy and save the teenage girls, but my mind just keeps going to sex. Really? As a ...more

I'm sorry to say that I absolutely hated this disappointing book, it was so tedious, boring and repetitive. The characters kept saying the same things over and over and over again. The main character Alisa is an insufferable, belligerent, demanding, strident bitch who is constantly complaining and blaming. Korgan is a ridiculous caricature of a cheesy romance novel hero. And the exclamation points! So many exclamation points! It's how you know something is supposed to be exciting!
