All I wanted to do was run away, I never expected to crash into his arms...

After leaving the city life behind to escape my loveless marriage, I moved to small town Havenbarrow for a fresh start.

What I didn’t expect was to find myself drawn to the town’s black sheep.

They called him troubled. Cold. A man with a dark past.

What everyone seemed to miss about Jax was the splash

Sometimes in life we need to be pushed to be reminded that we can still move.

Brittainy C. Cherry give us another stunning and emotional second chance romance with her newest release, Southern Storms.

After dealing with loss, Kennedy lives her home in the city to move to the country near her sister. She needs the quiet and solitude to heal. What she never expects is for the town jerk to live right by her. And for it to be someone she once knew... Kennedy knew Jax when they

SOUTHERN STORMS:' Is the first full length romance novel in Author Brittainy C. Cherry's 'Compass' series. Each book can be read as standalones. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

Jumping into this the very first chapter literally broke my heart, her husband's treatment of her was despicable, making her feel worthless and guilty for being overly emotional over losing loved ones a few years back. Resulting in her husband wanting a divorce.

What can I say, I love Brittainy Cherry and her books and I will always read her stuff. With that said, I was a little disappointed with this one even though it was cute all around. Don’t get me wrong, the formula is there, good writing and super likable characters. But still, some things were disappointing and affected my rating. For one, it had lots of editing issues, including spelling mistakes and missing words. It was also very inconsistent through out with inconsistent ages, dat

I truly feel like whatever Brittainy C Cherry writes, works it’s way into my heart. How does she do this??? Every book, every sentence, every freakin word is woven into a lyrical balm just for your heart. There are moments when it breaks you just a little, but the other moments? Those are the ones you have to have to watch because it heals you and it makes you stronger.

I’m probably the odd one out but I wasn’t completely hooked.
I’m not even in a particularly moody mood right now but I still caught myself putting the book aside more times than I thought I would and having to force myself to pick it up again later.

I think it had a lot to do with their romance lacking some sparks. The magic was missing because the friendship in this was strong, like EXTREMELY strong, and I loved that. As kids, they were THE CUTEST, simpl

Kennedy & Jax.

Both very sad and broken with a lot of heartbreaking events in their past.

They knew each other as kids and now they live in the same town again.

Kennedy just left her idiot husband after some very hard times and Jax has been in town all his life. He's the town's bad sheep. The grumpy plumber.

But as soon as he sees Kennedy again - his grumpiness disappears and his heart starts working again.

Same with Kennedy.

Now those two only have to heal enough to be able to fight for their foreve

Does Southern Storms sound like Brittainy signature broody & lonely town wolf hero with a tragic past and a equally broken heroine with a tragic backstory? Yes, it does because that's what it is. That's my biggest critic, I think, sometimes I just wanted something different besides the same repetitive trope of two extremely broken people coming together to help each other heal. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the story, because I did very much, but it

I was expecting more from Miss Cherry. Southern Storms have more tamer and less dramatic compare to Miss Cherry other works. Southern Storms have the humor but not enough spark/ emotional connection.

Don't get me wrong. It is still OK read. I am just expecting more. The story is more intended for NA audience. The topic is milder and tamer.
The friendship between Jax and Kennedy is adorable and innocent. And Connor steals the show.

Kennedy Lost desperately needed a new start. Moving to a small town was a big change to her life, especially having to deal with the people including the designated town’s black sheep, Jax Kilter. But as their pasts converged, they had to learn to weather the storms or risk drowning in it.

There are not many authors who managed to handle the delicate balance of creating a vulnerable heroine

Small Town | Emotional Romance

Brittainy C. Cherry has impressed me with each of her novels since I started reading them. Her specialty with these emotional romances is her tortured heroes. I think it’s these men and the way she writes them that keeps bringing me back for more. Not only that, she’s a vivid storyteller. It’s not hard to get lost in her novels. I REALLY enjoyed this book it literally made me tear up a few times. Kennedy and Jax were perfect characters and I loved seeing them go through the process of healing in their own way. I also LOVED the secondary characters, Joy, Connor, Eddie, etc. Connor made me laugh a few times.. I love how he’s always trying to make money.

As for the romance I think It needed a little more time being developed. I understand that they knew each other has children but I wanted more from them. This still was a

If this sentence “You deserve someone who isn’t as broken as me” completely and utterly ENRAGES you, then you can skip this.

Plot and characters were.......fine. Nothing was special or interesting. Writing was insanely lofty and try-hardy. Lots of “when there is light there is also darkness, and I had to learn how to swallow up that darkness and blah blah blah blah.” The kind of writing that makes you gag a little bit.

I remember reading this book but it didn't pass 3 chapters so I didn't continue. Yesterday, I decided to give this book a second chance with hope maybe some things are going to be delivered.

I'm new to Brittany C. Cherry's book and it wasn't a bad experience while reading this. There were things I most definitely love but there were also things that I felt missing so it created a hole into the story which left me questioning "What's going on with this?"

Ms Cherry has done it again with Southern Storms..

Long lost friendships, full of heartaches and tragedies, I could help but be fully engrossed in Kennedy and Jax's story.

The grumpy guy and the heartbroken girl who find love when they are least expecting it

The small town vibe, with everyone knowing everyones elses business resonated with me, and I could put local names from my town to the characters in this book (you know who you are, people!). I wanted to laugh,

You know when you talk with your friends that you want a love life like the ones that happens in the books? This is the book you put in that list. This is the kind of love I want to myself. This is a really sweet childhood friends to lovers story and told in true Brittainy C. Cherry fashion, ie, filled with lots of emotion and angst.

Unfortunately, a great deal of that emotion is unhappy moments. Both Jax(son) and Kennedy have gone through so much and that's what draws them together when they meet in the present.
