As she gets ready to audition for It’s in Her Kiss, a play about a woman torn between the man her family wants for her and the woman she wants, Julia – Jules – Vega is hoping to get both her first lead role and some clarity into her increasingly obvious (to her) bisexuality. She meets Sophie Rindell, another actress, in the waiting room and the attraction sparks immediately.

Sophie has reached a crossroads in her life, wondering whether she’ll ever make it on Broadway or should listen to her pare

Julia Vega moved to New York from Miami with dreams of becoming a big Broadway star. With just around ten years under her belt she is finally up for a leading role. Sure, it is off Broadway, but it is at a reputable theater. If she could land this role it would be the big break she needs and put her on the map.

Sophie Rindell has been a struggling actor in New York City for many years. Waiting tables and couch surfing is what she knows. Her family, who never fully supported her career choice, is

I really enjoyed the first book in this series "Don't Cry for Me" and definitely recommend that on Kindle Unlimited.

Jules Vega is the character from the first novel that adopted two rescue kittens from Josie and Eve.

She is sweet and friendly, adorable and encouraging to all she meets. She has worked hard and knew what she wanted from a young age. She went to the LaGuardia Performing Arts School (THE FAME School) from 14, and then went on to get a degree in Theatre Arts, before starting her aud

Sophie is out of work actress who auditions for the lead in an off Broadway musical. The character is a woman who realizes she is a lesbian and falls in love. A role perfect for her. Julia is also auditioning for the same role and just like the character she wants to play, she too is struggling with her sexual identity. The two meet at the audition and a new friendship is formed and the attraction between the two electric, even though they are rivals. Will they be able to make things w

This was a good, but fairly predictable lesfic. The writing was solid and the characters felt well defined. There were a few emotional parts of the story I can honestly say I felt were really strong and well written. I did see certain moments of the plot coming and it dragged in a couple of places, but overall it was a good story.

This is a delightful book with a story in the Midnight in Manhattan series by Rachel Lacey. It is a book that gives us two main characters Julia and Sophie, who are actresses on the Broadway circuit. They meet while auditioning for the same part in a show that features a storyline of coming out that mirrors the life that Julia finds herself within. It is a well written story, with humor, angst, steamy sex, some behind the scenes theatre life and two characters that you want to root for to the en ...more

Really a 3.5 for me but rounded up because I really, really liked the first half or so.

I loved the premise and, while it did end up pretty much how I predicted from the start, it took some twists and turns I didn't expect which is always nice.

For me the star of the book was Jules and her journey - and her family. She felt incredibly real to me and I spent the entire book cheering for her to be happy and to succeed. Sophie, on the other hand, made me cringe and groan and mostly want to have her

This is the second book in the Midnight in Manhattan series. While it can completely stand on it's own, I do recommend reading the first book since there are several appearances by those characters. In fact, I think Eve and Josie (from Don't Cry for Me) are instrumental in there even being a romance in this book at all! Jules and Sophie meet at an audition for the lead role in an off-Broadway musical and quickly hit it off. But while Sophie is instantly attracted to Jules, Jules is conflicted ab ...more

I've recently had some new revelations, so I went into this story with a different perspective than I had the first book, and I have to say this book was amazing! Jules' struggle really struck home with me, and I was actu

It’s in her kiss by Rachel Lacey

Rachel Lacey’s book ‘It’s in Her Kiss’’ came into my life as a great surprise. After spending the last day reading, I still cannot believe I had never heard of Rachel Lacey and any of her writings before. I am greatly pleased and surprised by the quality of the writing, and the dept of the story I received as an advance review copy.

It was a page-turner that easily qualifies Rachel Lacey as good as any of my usual favourite writers. ‘’It’s in Her Kiss ‘’ is the se

3.75 stars, rounded up to an even 4. This is a coming out HEA actress book. This was a short & pleasant read, at songs points it dragged a bit but that is my only complaint.

Great book two in the series. I love the crossover of characters. Jules is finally accepting her attraction to women. Sophie is trying hard not to be discouraged about her acting career. When they are both cast in the same play there attraction to each other is electric. Josie and Eve make several appearances to offer advice and support. I am looking forward to the next book.

Sophie Rindell and Julia Vega are struggling Broadway actresses. They meet while auditioning for the same role. The role is of the leading lady, Bianca, a dream for both of them. After the audition, Sophie invites Jules to hang out with her and her friends and Jules accepts.

This is an absolutely sweet and tender love story between two very likable leading ladies. It’s in Her Kiss is the second book in Rachel Lacey’s Midnight in Manhattan series. Josie and Eve from Don’t Cry for Me make an appearance, but It’s in Her Kiss can easily be read as a stand alone. The story arc flows nicely and no real knowledge of Don’t Cry for Me’s backstory is needed.

It’s in Her Kiss readers are immediately drawn into this convincing and romantic tale between two very likable and attra
Enjoyable co-workers romance with well-rounded main characters. Jules and Sophie are both actresses, and they meet while auditioning for the same lead role in the musical It's in her Kiss. There's a little tension at first, as one of them has to swallow the disappointment of not getting the starring role, but I thought both characters handled that with as much grace as can reasonably be expected. Jules is bisexual, but not out, and has never had a relationship with a woman before. Her journey of ...more

Sweet temptation holds all the cards! With book two in her Midnight in Manhattan series Rachel Lacey brings a familiar face to life as Jules takes center stage. Fans of the first book in the series will recognize Jules who adopted kittens from Josie in that book. This book will be a particular draw to fans of Broadway because the story line delves deeply into the production lifestyle. It wasn't my favorite book from this author, but it was steadily paced and entertaining.

Jules Vega drove me nuts

Isn't it strange how we humans adapt. As I was reading this, I had seriously uncomfortable feelings about terms such as "crowds of under 50 people" and cramped backstage areas, bodies milling about each other, crowded bars..... Fuck this pandemic. I actually had not thought about Broadway or theatre industry in NYC at all over the last 11 months. :(

ANYWAY, back to the book: I quite enjoyed this read by Ms. Lacey, and actually felt it was stronger than the first in the series. Both MCs were well

I liked this story a lot, i had a very great time reading it. For me the charakters are very well written and defined. We get to know the lovestory between broadway actresses Julia and Sophie who apply for the same role. For Julia this role seams to be a mirror to her own life, since its about coming out. I always enjoy a good "meet cute" which happend in this book. Jules made it during the book into my heart she felt so real and just amazing, i felt with her every step of the way. Received an ARC for an honest review.

So it's probably more of a 3.5 star, but alas...we have to use whole numbers

Lacey has crafted a story about two Broadway actresses and their path to one another. There are hurdles in the way, the biggest being a closet one of the actresses isn't sure she wants to leave. I think I was torn with this one because it felt like, even though Sophie was trying not to pressure Jules, the knowledge of her past relationship was there, pushing Jules along. And their fig
Its in her eyes.

I love how Jules and Sophia meet by chance auditioning for the role of Bianca the lead role for in the show its in her kiss but they went too have a drink at Josie bar and they got too talking and find out they are attractive too each other than Jules got a call say she will be playing Bianca a gay women for the first time and Sophia is her understudy and in the ensemble cast they started having time together having a group study with the rest of the cast and they ended up fallen

First thing first : this is #2 of the serie, but I haven't read the #1 and it was absolutely not a problem, you can definitely read this one as a stand alone.

With that being said... At first, I was a bit disappointed, because I thought I was reading an "ennemies to lovers" romance, which is... obviously not ;)
But that was totally my fault for misreading the blurp, and one thing for sure : at the end, I was not disappointed nor sorry for misreading the blurp, because maybe I wouldn't have read

Loved this one

I had high hopes for It’s in Her Kiss after reading and really enjoying Don’t Cry For Me. Now that I’ve finished book 2 in this series I can safely say I really enjoyed this one as well. Everything that I love about a contemporary romance can be found: interesting and like-able characters, chemistry, heat, believable conflict and angst, that inevitably leads to... well I’m sure you can guess. I will admit it took me a bit longer than I expected to get invested in the characters and

A good book from an author who I always enjoy. I loved the meet cute. It was something I have never read before. I feel like these two were throwing up unnecessary roadblocks, that wouldn't be as pressing in real life. I also felt that some of the hesitancy felt funny after the initial whirlwind. I was very happy to touch base with Josie and Eve and to still have some theater kitten love. Overall it was an enjoyable read. ...more

Nice book

This is a nicely written book. I think any book by this author is nicely written. I just find it quite draggy and it didn’t really make me want to finish reading quickly. The highlight of this book for me is whenever Josie and Eve appear. I really love that couple and enjoyed that book more (Don’t Cry For Me). I look forward to the next one and to catch more of Josie and Eve.

Sophie's dream is to perform on Broadway, but for so many years she can't get a break, till now, only there is one more person, who wants that role too, Julia.
Julia has been starring in Broadway for a few years, but she never had leading role, now is her chance.
When Sophie and Julia meets, something clicks.

I did enjoy this story very much.

It’s in her kiss

I absolutely loved this second book in the series. I could not put it down, I read it in 24 hours because I simply couldn’t stop. I love the story line and I can relate because I didn’t come out myself until I was 40. I can’t wait for book 3. I highly recommend this series of books.

I loved everything about this story maybe because I’m grew up in NY and maybe because I’m in the business but there’s nothing like following your heart and falling deeply in love..
