There are total 10 short stories in it . In part one , the five stories are based on real incidents from author's own life . When she was a little girl, with her parents, she used to live in Shimla, a place with its temperate climate that grows more gloomy with the arrival of winters and snow wraps up the hilly location along with the dense forests of pine and oak trees. As the place grows less crowded, days and nights feel more aloof at times from the whole world .

A collection of ten horror stories, Ghosts of The Silent Hills by Anita Krishan is a book which will make the readers shocked and scared. Eerie stories set amidst silent hills and deserted lodges, surrounded by forests enveloped in a deadly silence...

The book is divided into two parts. Each part contains five stories each. All the stories are based on true hauntings. Scary, mysterious and spine chilling - these are the words that best describe the stories. It is so gripping that I could not stop

Ghosts of the Silent Hills: Stories based on true haunting is a collection of stories set in the British era. The author has excellently written the plots of the stories and I am sure that the readers will get Goosebumps while reading these stories. Imagine you have been walking on a lonely road and then all of a sudden you feel some presence behind you as if someone is keeping a watch on you. But as you turn around you see no one and then all of a sudden there it is that right in front of you ...more

An amazing collection of spooky stories Ghosts Of The Silent Hills is based on true haunting stories. Stories you can endure, though for entirely different reasons.

Stories are well written, because they allow the reader to use their imagination to the fullest. What you don't see and understand can be scary, as your imagination runs wild. That's how the author has written, by allowing the mind to conjure what these spirits and monsters can become in her short stories.

A compelling read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Such an articulate account of paranormal experiences complied together to make this book an intriguing read for ghost story lover . It felt as though I was right there experiencing the events myself & I completed this book at midnight. There were goosebumps all around my hand.
Horror stories are sometimes fun to read and sometimes they are none chilling. This was the later.

After years I found myself reading a book late into the night because it was so gripping. I am not a fan of horror stories or short stories, but this book suprised me by engaging me in the way that it did. I was taken back to my childhood and nights spent with cousins or friends sharing horror stories and then being startled at every sound or scared of going to the bathroom. I especially loved how relatable the characters in the stories were. I could find myself nodding along at certain things ...more

Ghosts Of The Silent Hills is an interesting anthology of paranormal stories based in hills. The collection will make your heart race, doubt the silence enveloping you, drive to peer deep into darkness after switching off the night lamp and will raise a caution in mind before looking behind while walking in the moonlit terrace or balcony. The tales echo with incomplete desires, ruthless murders, loneliness and untimely death that caused the unquenched souls to latch on to places yearning for the ...more

If you want to read about ghosts in order to be filled with dread, then Anita Krishan may not be your favorite supernatural author. On the other hand, if you are a fan of elegant realistic fiction but like a few chills from time to time, Anita Krishan's ghost tales may belong at the top of your list.

Each of stories in 'Ghosts of the Silent Hills' is a subtle exercise rooted in everyday reality, and the ghostly presences--such as they are--emerge from the nourishing soil that constitutes author's

Ghosts of silent hills by Anita Krishan is one of such books which gives you goosebumps while reading ! You can feel a cold breeze ! And in a nutshell you feel SCARED !

In my childhood days I used to wait for Shuktara's (a Bengali monthly magazine for children) horror special edition. I used to gobble all the stories at night my mother or grandma had to be with me whenever I had to go bathroom 😥

The stories here also took me back to these childhood days ! With her Impeccable writing author takes

Ghosts of the Silent Hills, my first book from a genre I was always skeptical to dive into. Horror was something I abstained from and I'm glad to have tried this book!

The author writes about some real incidents happened in the hills of Shimla/ Mashobhra. The stories mainly involve desolate structures from the British-era, dark nights in the lonely hills, eeire experiences faced by people known to the author, etc.

The ten stories of the book have an unresting silence to them, tales of wandering

Other than two stories, all the other stories are good. The book is divided into two halves. First half is better than second half. There is a story based in Australia which seems rather out of place.
Overall a book you will enjoy!

Even though I am not a huge fan of horror stories, I like this book very much thanks to its various action-packed adventure horror journeys. Anita needs to be applauded for her amazing writing skills characterized by strong characterizations and thick narration. The easy, yet the impactful language of the book ensures that every scene seems realistic and relatable and creates the feel of watching a movie rather than reading a book. It is a must-read for people who love horror stories as it ...more

The background of the hills which the author has infused into the stories with apt details and in a picturesque manner, definitely adds a beautiful touch to the stories and even adds to the creepiness. I found the horror element of some stories to be lighter but it was totally balanced out by the others. For me the book was all in all moderately scary. Some of the stories which I ended up liking were The Hospital Room, Lonely in death and even The Third Housemate. Being someone who absolutely ...more

Loved this book. The stories do give you a spook. However I thought the first 4 stories were scary and spooked me. The others were average. Couple of the stores were pretty similar. Over all of give it a solid 4. It's a quick read. And gives you the chills.

Ghosts of the Silent Hills makes for a wonderful read for anyone seeking a bit of adventure and brave enough to get past the spooky real life ghost encounters. These supernatural accounts are refreshingly original and frightening. Anita Krishan spells magic with her words in a way that very few writers are capable of. It's a must read!!!

I love reading haunted stories and watching haunted movies. After all, getting goosebumps, skipping heartbeats in fear, shouting or shivering is fun once you get over your fear. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and give it 5 stars out of 5 for making me feel the fear.

The book is a collection of multiple stories that are spooky, gripping and will make you take a pause and relax your mind to get over the fear. And since the subtitle of this book says that these stories are based on true
