My thanks to BookSirens, the author and publisher for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I normally don't read gangster/mafia/bratva based stories. Sorry, but criminals are not romantic to me AT ALL. However, the blurb for this one captured my interest. A paid assassin is caught by a leading Bratva member while she attempted to kill him. Hmmmmm, let me give this one a shot!

I knew I would have to skim over many violent scenes (and Yep, that happened - a lot!) but the chemistry

Another great installment to the series. This one however is more of a stand alone, you don’t have to read the rest to understand this one.

This book is somewhat different. There is way more action and mob stuff then the previous books. Yes, there is attraction between the H and h, but it just seems to take a back seat to the action. I did not feel the emotional pull between Sloane and Ivan that Ms. Lark’s characters have had in the last books. They way the hooked up really didn’t lend itself to

The plot of this book was original and highly entertaining. I loved every minute of it. Sloane's job is what brings her into Ivan's life, but her strength is what keeps her there. Sloane is Ivan's match in every way. This book flows nicely and is well written. I love the two main characters, but there are some great characters on the periphery as well. I have red some of the previous books in this series and they are all great in there own right. All the books so far seem to be standalone as is ...more

I have loved this colors of crime series. I liked this one because it set the stage for what was to come in the story. We found out that Sloane was a hit woman and that she had come to Russia to stay looking for her father and found out that her CIA father had become so paranoid in the end that he doesn't get shot or killed with poison or anything he thought would kill him he gets run over by a vehicle. So Sloane decides to stay and because her father had taught her everything that a CIA ...more

This book was WOW, and I ended up reading it in one sitting cause I couldn't put it down! It had everything you would want in a Mafia romance story and then it added an insta-love type component which was definitely unexpected. This was my first book by Sophie Lark but I already have her other books added to my TBR list!

Sloane is a hit woman, with the nickname "Angel of Death", that has never screwed up an assignment. She puts in all the works, gets clean kills and gets out with out ever being

Another Good Read...

Emerald was the second book I've read from author Sophie Lark. And, just like the well-developed characters and story in Crimson, the first novel I read, Ms. Lark continues to show how talented she is as an artist able to craft a good tale with compelling characters and plot line. In Emerald, Ms. Lark presents the story of Sloane, a woman conditioned by her former CIA operative father from early childhood to protect and defend herself, withstand torture, maneuver daring
Not read any of the previous books, but that doesn’t matter in the least.

Sloane or “The Angel if Death” as she is known Is an assassin, a killer for hire, and she’s good at her job, methodical and clean, her daddy taught her plenty of lessons and not all of them were easy, but they were valuable. Five long years and now she’s at the top of her game, this should have been an easy job .....

Ivan is a Bratva Boss, ruthless and cold. No time for a life, the Bratva is his life, and he can’t see that

Buckle up! Sophie rocks this baby, weaving a cocoon around you, so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web, melding this baby together seamlessly. A roaring vortex of inexplicable circumstances and inadvertent events, bursts this bad boy into a tailspin with an astonishing culmination. Sparks fly as drama, tension, intrigue and mounting suspense spirals, keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Add exciting thrills, undercurrents, sizzling

Emerald can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

Sloane is unlike any woman that Ivan has ever met. She is strong, clever, cunning, and he soon comes to realize that she is his equal; Ivan has finally met his match. When Sloane breaks into Ivan’s secure compound he has two option, kill her or use her to his advantage. The chemistry between these two is off the charts from the very beginning, so Ivan chooses to get information out of her in an unconventional way. I am always a sucker for stories

This mafia boss is well protected and untouchable, or so thought, until the woman assassin finds her way to him, in more than one way.

Ivan Petrov is the boss of the Petrov Bratva and he’s a powerful man. The only trouble is that there is a new bratva boss in touch trying to take over St. Petersburg. The only problem is that he doesn’t play the game the way the regular bratva does. He’s a dangerous adversary that Ivan has to fight in a different way than he is used to.

Sloane is a woman with a

HOLY HELL! Sophie Lark is a new to me author, and I found myself asking, where the hell have I been all this time?! Emerald was a fantastic story which ticked off all my boxes for the perfect rating, especially since it claimed every bit of my attention from the jump. First of all, I'm totally in love with Sloane, aka The Angel of Death, who is a strong & brilliant heroine. Her assassin lifestyle is to take marks out, but here's the thing, they can only be baddies, no children or good people ...more

She was what he never knew he needed and she was his!
by sewsummore

Sloane had been raised by her dad, a former CIA operative. He taught her everything she knew and she put those lessons to good use as an assassin for hire. However, nothing he taught her enables her to escape the clutches of her latest target when she became his captive. She was a feisty little thing and easily overcome, but well trained and deadly. He wanted answers and he was surprised when she gave them. He wanted to punish

The books in this series just keep getting better! I really liked Crimson but this book has topped it. I feel like Sopgie Lark has definitely found her feet in Mafia romances and is giving readers a fully rounded story with great characters and good plot twists.

What I loved about this book was that I was drawn in by the love story between Ivan & Sloane and the Bratva drama that was going on. There was some insta-lust with Sloane and Ivan after he caught her trying to kill him, and some back

OMG WHAT A STORY. ITS JUST A FANTASTIC READ. Wish i could give you more stars !!!!!
Sloane is hired as an assassin Based in St. Petersburg she had just completed one job when another quickly comes along and she would be silly to pass on half a million. SO she quickly takes the job. But when she sees who it is , maybe she should of passed on his one. The job is for the death of a Bratva boss. But things dont go as planned as when she looks at his face she gets distracted giving Ivan enough time to

Emerald is the 5th book int the Colors of Crime Series but can be read as a standalone. This was the first book I've read by Sophie Lark and I was delighted. It was action-packed, suspenseful and intense.

Sloane and Ivan are a perfect match. A relationship between a paid assassin and a Russian mafia boss seems ideal. But not when the said assassin is paid to murder the Bratva Lord. I loved Sloane, she's feisty and cunning and has no inhibitions. She knows what she wants and doesn't hesitate to

A truly, intriguing slow-burn mafia romance with some dark undertones, it has a somewhat different approach to the normal Bratva romance but I promise you it is definitely worth reading. The story-line & plot is suspenseful, well-written & intriguing. The well-developed characters have unique personalities although some of them have been emotional hardened by past events in their life but form a attraction to each other & ultimately complement each other.

This is the 5th book in this series and although it's not the first one I've read, I've not read them all. It is easily read as a standalone book.
The author has changed her writing style for this book, and I have to say, I'm liking it very much. This was written in the first person and something about the writing just made it flow so well.
This was a great storyline, a little darker than previous books in this series which I enjoyed. It had great characters, although I did get a little confused

Wow, Sophie Lark outdid herself with this one! It’s her best book in this series and instantly became my favorite one!

I loved the storyline, it was intriguing and intense with lots of mafia action and suspense. The writing flowed well and had me turning pages so I couldn’t help myself but read it in one sitting! I thought I would miss 3rd POV but in the end I think it worked much better this way, it was easier to connect to characters.

I also liked that it was so much darker than all previous

This was an exciting page-turner that kept my attention well. Sloane isn't your run-of-the-mill damsel by no means. She is calculated and capable at what she does but everyone is bound to slip up sooner or later. It happens sooner when she has a close call with Ivan. Ivan is dangerous and obviously is not someone you want to mess with. I think he thought of Sloane as a puzzle he wanted to figure out. And whew their love scenes were so steamy! The story kept me guessing and I LOVED the ending! ...more

I've enjoyed reading all the Colors of Crime books. Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, Sophie Lark gives us Ivan and Sloane's story. These two have intense chemistry from the minute they lock eyes....when Sloane is standing over his bed getting ready to kill him! This book grabs you from page one all the way through The End. Ivan and Sloane are well written, compelling characters, and absolutely sizzle. The story has twists and turns you've come to expect from Ms. Lark. Each of ...more

Sloane is a female assassin also known as the Angel of Death. She was taught from an early age how to survive through torture, mind deviation and other things her captor might have in mind. Her next target is Ivan Petrov, the head boss of the Bravtva. Even though his compound is built like a fortress she still managed to get inside. He's asleep. Then BAM!!! Mission failed. So far.
Ivan still can't believe an assassin made it inside his compound. A woman! What will he do to to Sloane?

This is book number five in the Colors of Crime Book series. Sloane is a hit women with a very tough background and she is very good at her job. Ivan is a big, tough muscled, born leader of his men but someone wants him dead and he needs to find out who that person is. Emerald by Sophie Lark was an exciting and dynamic read! Not only does Lark deliver a read that is fast-paced and suspenseful, but she also brings the heat with sinfully delicious romance! The drama and action kept me interested, while the chemistry and heat between the characters had me begging for more!

Emerald's characters were well developed, and the world building was perfection. With Lark's writing I felt like I was the one sneaking through tunnels and escaping by rooftop - and don't get me

This was a really great story, one that was full of fantastic mafia-themed suspense and sizzling hot romance. I really enjoyed the way Sloane and Ivan came together for the first time; it was really hot and intense and set the stage for a great story. Regardless, it was still a really enjoyable story with an intriguing ...more

I am so enjoying Ms. Lark's mafia romances. I just love the heroine's name in Emerald: Sloane. But, this is not the only thing going for this book. Ivan is sexy as all get out! There are twists; there are turns.

Ivan is meant to be alone right? Sloane too! But, there's something there between these two strong people. Will they combine their strong minds and defeat their enemy?

Ms. Lark I was highly entertained. Love the dialogue and how you do a deep dive into the characters. I feel like I know

Emerald is a fast paced book from start to finish. It's got a very quick timeline so if instalove stories aren't your thing this isn't the book for you. The sex was hot. I wished there was more of it and a longer build up before Sloane and Ivan click. It missed being a five star review for me because I felt that the author missed an opportunity to write some really intense scenes between Sloan and Ivan when she was captured.
