Once upon a time, a fairy tale went very wrong! This new twist on a traditional children's story is packed with fun, humour, and energy.

Little Rude is incredibly cheeky to everyone that she meets. She doesn't even know the meaning of "please" and "thank you!" However, that could all change when she meets a surprisingly polite wolf on her way to Grandma's house.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Jo Franklin, and Arcturus Publishing for providing Neo and me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

My son, Neo, and I love reading all sorts of books and thought we would try some of these twisted fairy tales. Jo Franklin has spun the classic tale of a young girl headed into the words with something equally as entertaining, but with a moral that cannot be missed. In a small town, lives a family

I read another title from this series, The Ninjabread Man , earlier this year. I absolutely hated it. The writing was atrocious and the story was weak. I do like the idea of twisting fairy tales around, however, so I decided to give Little Rude Riding Hood a try. After all, it's by a different author, and I thought maybe the writing would be better.

Sadly, the writing is plagued by the exact same issues as The Ninjabread Man! Was it a requirement to use silent dialogue tags throughout these

The Twisted Fairy Tale series keep coming with a marvelous adaption of Little Red Riding Hood, except this time she's quite rude! Little Rude looks mischievous and mean and says mean things as well! Once she gets her little, red jacket on she goes for a walk to her Grandma's house and bumps into Mr. Wolf and other creatures in the forest.

I absolutely love the art style of this series. It's whimsy, bright and soft. I also totally adore re-tellings of fairy tales, so this book was just what I was

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is the 4th book in the twisted fairy tales series I've read so far, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first 3 I read.
This book is a retelling of Little Red Riding hood and is focussed on little red and her rudeness and disregard for manners.
The story was a bit flat for me and lacked some umph.

This was a cute enough story of Little Red Riding Hood if she had been rude to everyone, instead of nice. She is rude to her mom, she is rude to the wolf, she is even rude to the woodcutter.

At that point I was hoping that she would get eaten, which she did.

But she didnt remain that way.

While I liked that she stopped being rude when she was saved, I thought it was too quick, and that it wouldnt really reform her.

I did like that the moral was not to be rude, but not sure if it wasnt just a little

Folktales have long life. They start somewhere in past and persist in collective consciousness.
They change with time but their soul stays same.
This is such tale which is retold in this book with a new twist.
Story is dimple, readable by kids easily with simple vocabulary.
It is written in a very interesting prose.
Illustrations are very vivid, gracious and carry story to new level .
I liked the character of woodcutter.
An enjoyable tale with a message to kids about need of respecting others.
Thanks

A re-writing of a fairy tale. All the same characters but a new twist as the story tells of a little girl who has no manners.
Jo Franklin has written a well structured account of what happens to you when you are rude and ignore the feelings of others.
The little girl gets a beautiful red coat from her Grandma but even then she cannot write a thank- you letter. Her mother and father did not bring her up this way and despair that she has become known as Little Rude Riding Hood.
One day she is asked

This tale follows the original purpose of a fairy tales: teaching a very important lesson to children. In this particular twisted fairy tale, children learn that being rude doesnt get you anywhere.
In the children Ive encountered recently, Ive noticed a lack of manners and politeness. This story shows that there are consequences for not using your manners and every child should learn that being polite is how to get from point A to point B. This book is a good tool for parents to use to teach

I am often a fan of twists on fairy tales, but this one missed the mark for me. It retells Little Red Riding Hood by making her the "bad guy" and the wolf the "good guy." It's one thing to have a rude child, because, let's face it, all kids are rude at some point in time. However, her parents do nothing but say, "that's rude." Well, yeah. Red is stubborn, rude, evil little girl yet when something happens, she magically changes into a nice girl? Franklin changed the story too much with an ...more

A twist on Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood is a rude little girl to everyone she meets! But one day on her way to see her grandmother she meets a well mannered wolf!
A funny story that keeps you entertained throughout.
Resh (The Book Satchel)
A cute retelling of the Little red riding hood. Here she is a rude girl who says mean things, is selfish and doesn't help others. Mr. Wolf is a nice wolf with manners. I liked how the moral of the story is about being kinder to others and learning please and thank you.

I am sure you realize from the title, Twisted Fairy Tales: Little Rude Riding Hood, is a twist on Little Red Riding Hood. Author Jo Franklin and illustrator Chris Jevons are able to produce a children's book that teaches the necessity of good manners.

It is not a long book. Several reviewers noted the book felt rushed. It did feel the main character, Little Rude Riding Hood, learned her lesson quickly. It is

Than you for the Free copy given in return for an honest review Netgallery.

This book Follows the well known character of little red riding hood but as she has never learnt any manners in this story we know her as little rude. The story has a good balance of keeping the children interested but also delivering an important message of being kind using manners. As little rude goes about being mean and rude to others I found my own children feeling sorry for the other characters in the story and

Twisted Fairy Tales: Little Rude Riding Hood by Jo Franklin is a story with a fun little twist on the classic that we all know. Little Rude is just like you would expect her to be based on her name and she knows just how to irritate the whole town as well as the inhabitants of the forest. When she even does her best to ruin her grandma's birthday party, the unthinkable happens: she has to face the consequences of her actions when the wolf, who tried so hard after his anger management classes, ...more

This is an adorable little chapter book. A great size for a longer bedtime, or maybe split up over 2-3 nights. The premise is of course loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. Except this Little Red is called Little Rude because she is a selfish, awful little girl. Constantly demanding things, refusing to help others, and never says please or thank you.

The cute illustrations that come along with this book are a great addition. They help break-up the text, add colour, and make this a great

Little Red Riding Hood has always been my 5 year old granddaughter's favourite story and she loves all the different versions we've found so far plus she acts it out herself and listens to it online so she is definitely a fan!

There is a lot to recommend this story of 'Rude' which, having been brought up to date, has things in it she recognises from her own life and as it has a strong moral this totally different take on the original can be used as a timely reminder whenever necessary! It did

In this book, Little Red Riding Hood is a very rude girl, so she is called Little Rude Riding Hood. Her parents send her to bring her grandmother a present for her birthday, but Little Rude doesnt want to. Eventually they convince her to go. Along her way to her grandmothers house, she meets kind creatures, but she is still rude to them.

This story had a great twist on the original tale. Since Little Rude is so rude to her parents and everyone else, it shows kids that she is behaving badly. She

*I was sent an e-arc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. *

I breezed through this one as I had the others I have read in this Twisted Tale series so far!

Overall, I think this was the weakest of the three I have read so far too. The story pacing was fine, the drawings were cute and fun like the others, but something was somehow off with the story. I didn't connect with it quite as much. It wasn't as humorous to me as the others.

I liked the overall lesson of being helpful and not rude

I love fairy tale stories and this remake was done so well. Its a perfect read with children to help them learn manners or to remind them that they are always important. Little Rude was continuously rude to everyone she met and eventually found she was being unwanted; when she was shown the light she learnt her lesson.

The drawings in the book were really cute and went along with the story really well, I loved that the usual characters you see from red riding hood were used but in a different

I loved this fairy tale retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood! In this book Little Rude is one rude kid; she is rude to her parents, her grandma, and every creature she meets on the way to grandmas house. Little Rude thinks that manners are unnecessary until the Wolf who has been going to anger management classes and cant handle her behavior any longer puts her in her place.

Thanks to NetGalley for this copy.

There are many stories which twist the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. In this version, Little Red is Little Rude - a child with no manners who takes no notice of anyone. She is rude to her parents, to the wolf, to the woodcutter and to the animals who she meets on her way to Grandma's house. As always, there is a moral to the tale...

Little Rude Riding Hood is an alternative version of Little Red, and I like the fact that in this retelling the wolf and Little Red have ultimately traded places.

Little Rude is selfish, ungrateful, impolite, and treats everyone around her with no respect. Karma definitely comes in to play for her in this one.

I enjoyed reading that the wolf attends anger management classes too. Funny twist with great humour.

This is a great book that can relate to children as well as adults. It really shows

An unfortunate flop. The Twisted Fairy Tale sound like a fun retelling of classic Fairy Tales, but the actual book is not good at all. It's a decent concept to have Little Rude Riding Hood, but it took the bit too far for me. I didn't enjoy reading it to my children because the entire time I kept thinking, "I hope my children don't get any ideas" I feel like the author went way overboard trying to make her rude. It all ended oddly as well when the wolf eats her and then she decides to have ...more

This book is a take on Little Red Riding Hood as can be seen from the cover.  It keeps some elements of the story while turning the story upside down.  For one funny example, the wolf has been to anger management.  Little Rude clearly has not.  Young readers may well enjoy Little Rude's behaviors as they may often feel similarly but not have permission to act out.  How does Little Rude come to appreciate manners?  Read this funny tale with a child you know to find out.

Many thanks to NetGalley

Little Rude Riding Hood, oh how rude you are.

This little girl has a great life and is just rude to everyone including her family. She goes on a trip through the woods to go visit her grandma for her birthday. On her journey there she runs into lots of problems. All that could be avoided if she was just nice.

It takes her a little while, but she realizes that maybe she should be a bit nicer.

The illustrations were absolutely gorgeous.
