Holden Parish survived his parents' horrific attempts to make him "the perfect son." After a year's stint in a Swiss sanitarium to recover, he has vowed to never let anything--or anyone--trap him again. Brilliant but broken, he seeks refug

Emma Scott never ceases to amaze me with her talent. When You Come Back to Me was a phenomenal and emotional romance. This will definitely be on my top 2020 list.

When I read ‘The Girl in the Love Song’ I was so curious about all the lost boys, but honestly, I wanted River’s story more than anyones. There was just something about him that made me want to know more. It’s no surprise to me that he’s my favorite character of this series thus far. He’s such an amazing hero and the type o

Emma Scott didn’t hold back telling Holden and River’s story. I felt her flawless prose. I was a sobbing mess during most of the story and that’s a testament to Scott’s storytelling. Holden and River’s journey is difficult and heartbreaking. As it should be given the trauma Holden has been through and still is fighting. The expectations and impending loss River has looming over his head has him struggling too. What these two young men has in common is they’re both wearing masks. In front of othe ...more

Emma Scott is simply remarkable! She pours everything she has into her books but I feel like she purged every last emotion into When You Come Back to Me. It’s packed front to back with heart pounding intensity and gut wrenching sensations that will keep you turning the pages.

My love for River and Holden started in The Girl in the Love Song. It was not their book but my intrigue was so strong, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on their story. River, the insecure boy hiding behind a facade of false

'WHEN YOU COME BACK TO ME' is the second full length MM romance book in Emma Scott's 'Lost Boys' series. This is Holden and River's story. We met them both briefly in 'The Girl in the Love Song, Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

I adored this book! It reminded me exactly why I’m obsessed with this author's words.

How do write a review for a book that was so consuming? I’m going to try my best, nothing I say will justify this book! It was pure PERFECTION! I’m screaming from the rooftop....Please Read This Book!!

I am gonna be honest and say that this book actually managed to make me nervous... while reading.

I could not stop fidgeting and there were times I just wanted to skip right to the ending and spoiler myself :P So yeah... definitely an emotional and angsty read!!

I was expecting it going in, but it still took me by surprise... go figure.

Anyways, so much hurt and sorrow... so much pain, but also so much love and a beautiful warm light at the end of the tunnel...

I am not gonna go into the whole plot

Holden and River tore my heart to shreds then pieced it back together.

This story was a beautiful tale of love and angst. A tale of trying to find yourself and being happy with what you find. And being true to what you find.

Of course it was sexy but Scott poured so much into weaving an epic love story for the ages for our boys. And you could cut the tension with a knife. Holden and River are such deep, multifaceted characters, and the storyline of opposites attract was perfect. Jock. Wild, pret

Have you ever read a book that makes your heart want to fly out of your chest and go live between the pages? A book that makes you ache with despair, frustration, hope and love all at the same time? That makes you feel everything, everywhere? This is that book.

To follow Holden and River's journey was an experience of a lifetime. It was raw, it was sweet, heartfelt and devastating and everything in between. It was a beautiful storm that I wanted to dance in. It was a story about self-discovery a

This is the second book in the series about the Lost Boys, which started with The Girl in The Love Song (TGiTLS), and tells the beautiful story of River Whitmore and his Holden Parish. This book is very interconnected with TGiTLS, and I strongly recommend you read that first, just to gain the full experience. Having said that River and Holden share a love that transcends time, and the horrifying experiences they both suffer through.

This audiobook made me so exasperated. It was trying so hard to be emo and angsty and teenage drama, and I just had enough by the end.

I also have to say this, but I found Holden's character to be insufferable. I'm going to be *that* person, but an IQ in the 150s isn't that impressive, and there is zero chance that his teachers would tell him that he was "too advanced for their classes." I didn’t want to be anywhere. The urge came over me again, to run out the door and not stop. No destination, just away.
“I’ll still be me wherever I go.”

Such a beautiful and heartbreaking book that was also brimming with so much hope. So much strength from these two boys, these warriors masquerading as a couple of high schoolers. I got heavy Shameless vibes from their dynamic. Very much ”Ian, what you and I have makes me free.” Holden and River were opposites or so they thought. Some

Can I give it more than 5 stars??? Emma Scott has a way with words. Her writing draws the reader into another world, and captures them until the last word. This story was an emotional, angsty read filled with happiness, sadness, loss, love, betrayal and recovery. There were so many underlying themes and each one will pull at your heart strings leaving you a wreck.

This novel was one of the most beautiful and moving love stories I have ever read. I was fully invested in the character arcs of both main characters and rooting for their happiness throughout.

This book touches on many difficult subjects, which I think it did an honest and realistic job of depicting the traumatic aftermath of conversion therapy. The consequences of this form of "therapy" were heartbreaking to read and I commend the author for its authentic portrayal.

Holden and River.

We already met those two in the first book.

Holden is the new beautiful, mysterious, weird guy in school and River is the prom king, quarterback, pride of the town sunny boy.

But they both have their secrets and pains. And dreams or nightmares about the past and the future.

Falling in love with each other was definitely not on the menu.

What will happen with Holden & River?
Will there be a Happily Ever After???

The second book in this series centers around Holden Parish (17, turns 18) and River Whitmore (17, turns 18). We met them both in book one, and the timeline - while in school - here is the same as there, just different POV. While this book is much better than the first book, the first book kinda took my excitement for this book out. Why, you ask? Well, I had wanted more alpha male characters and meeting them in book one, they were not that. They were hidin

Holden Parish had a solid plan - graduate high school and disappear. With a past he desperately needed to forget, the first day of school was supposed to be an insignificant new beginning. But crossing River Whitmore’s past might end up as a distraction he didn’t need.

I knew Holden and River well in book 1, so the transition to this book was an easy one. I loved that both of them had a seemingly

b) I should have read the Girl in the love song first. This book can work as a Standalone for the Romance department, not for the whole Lost Boys Group.

My feelings were all over the place while reading Holden and River’s story! When I finished Miller and Violet’s story, I already wrote “I can’t wait for Holden ‘s tale”.

He seemed to suffer so much I wanted to know everything about him. And he also had been saved by Silas from Someday, Someday in the reconversion camp so I needed to know more.

This quote below is just what I thought all along:

Emma Scott had her own big shoes to fill with her second foray into MM romance, and I’m happy—yet not at all surprised—to say she succeeded. Holden and River’s story was everything I knew it would be: emotional with perfectly timed comedic relief; swoony, heart stopping moments; natural angst; and a well-deserved HEA that the couple had to fight for.

If you read The Girl in the Love Song, you know the important role friendship plays in this series, and When You Come Back to Me solidifies that. T
