Lia Davies – I'm something their world has been waiting for.
When my placid small-town life is ripped apart, I enter the Paldimori Games to save the one thing that brings me solace from my painful past.
But I didn't sign up for this; being dragged behind a chariot and ordered around by his Holy Hotness—the arrogant leader of the House of Chaos. When I’m marked as a Chosen—one of six powerful descendants of the primordial gods—a prophecy is triggered that could mean the end of this ancient hidden society. Can I work with their arrogant ruler to piece together the clues of the prophecy, or will we kill each other before the Paldimori's ancient enemies get the chance?
T.L. Callahan is the author of the fantasy/PNR series Paldimori Gods Rising. She has always been a book lover; devouring romance, fantasy, and poetry since she was a young girl growing up in Kentucky. Her love for the outdoors inspired hours of wandering the woods pretending to be on adventures discovering magical creatures and being the heroine of her own stories. That hasn’t changed much these days. Never knowing what you can find around the next corner keeps her seeking out new adventures from backpacking in the Wind River Range of Wyoming to piloting a sailboat down the Tagus River in Portugal. T.L. lives in Ohio with her husband, son, and a cat that thinks he’s a dog.
This was a page turner. This author did a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life and making me want more. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book because I need more Chaos!!
Lia Davies is having a run of bad luck: her boyfriend slept with her assistant, nasty rumors about her are flying around town, and the bank is calling in the loan on her art gallery. As she becomes more ostracized in the community, her options run low. A mysterious invitation to participate in the Paldimori Games–offering a hefty cash prize to the winner–could be the only solution to her problems. The action, characters, plot, and setting are all very well done, and the reader gets caught up and transported into Lia’s worlds–the real one and the alternative one that exists on Sotiria. It takes a very skilled and talented writer to create good, believable sex scenes, and few writers are able to pull it off. Alas, T.C. Callahan falls into the latter category. The descriptions and dialogue in the sex scenes are disappointingly horrid compared to the quality of writing in the rest of this otherwise great story. I really enjoyed this book. I could have done without some of the rather explicit sex (I felt like some of that was over-the-top, and too much for this story), but that was probably the only negative. I liked the characters, and the world-building. It felt pretty original, or at least different than other paranormal "worlds" I've become attached to. I feel like there's a lot more to learn about the Paldimori, and I'm looking forward to reading other books in this series.
This writer really grabs the audience with very in depth details that make the story line so much more interesting than other reads; you start to get sucked into the world created, right alongside the other characters involved!! Cannot wait to see what happens in the next book
Argh! Another incomplete book that ends in a bad cliffhanger. The story was weird, the heroine and love interest were unlikable, the villain a bitch with lame motivation, and the non-ending a pisser.
This is a great well written story. It is unlike anything I have read before.
Lia is a Chosen by the God of Chaos, Titan, and is one of several to save the Paldimori race who are descendants of the six Primordial Gods of Greek Legend. Bennett is the Kyrion (leader) of the House of Chaos to whom she is bonded heart, mind and soul.Lia has much to learn about her powers, her duties as a co-ruler with Bennett, and what she has to do as a Chosen. I am looking forward to the next book to see what will happen.
I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed
I don't usually review books or other products, BUT Waking Chaos (Paldimori Games, Book 1) needs to be your next read. Personally, I connected to the characters at different parts throughout book, making the entire storyline feel lifelike. What an amazing author to accomplish this! Be prepared, the story and characters will seduce you in more ways than one! I didn't want the story to end, and now, I don't know if I can wait to read the next book in this new series by T. L. Callahan.
One of the best books of read this year. Lia is amazingly sassy and her dialogue is hilarious. This book has so much going for it. Beautiful world building, great characters, some action in and out of the bedroom. Emotional growth in both the hero and heroine a few twists you don't see coming and a satisfactory ending. Highly recommend for lovers of paranormal with a mythological twist, sexy God's and a strong female lead who comes into her own.
This book ended well, but it took a long time to get there. The world building was slow and, at times, tedious. The contest became an afterthought. The villain and her reason for ruining Lia’s life became laughable. Bennett’s hot/cold routine was tedious. It gave me whiplash. That said? There was a lot of promise here. I doubt I’ll continue the series though.
Interesting story and characters. It combines real world with other world. I enjoy that aspect. Although this is paranormal, it is not the paranormal that involves shifters, vampires etc. I enjoyed the aspect of female friendship that is true and dependable no matter what.
This was a really cool story. I like the concept and the way it was handled overall. I wish a certain character had needed to grovel a bit more, but that's my personal preference. I would recommend reading this, and I am currently going to get the next book to see how the story progresses.
Loved this book. Her snarky was so fun. Every page was filled with goodness and fun and sexy and weird and crazy. The one tiny irksome thing. I thought some of the descriptions were like 15% too long. Especially the clothes. Way way way too much book real wastage didn’t on the clothes
When I first started reading this book I found myself thinking not bad. Strong characters keep getting stronger. Detail a surprising amount of action make reading so easy. By the time I was getting to the end I did want to put it down
I wasn't too sure what to expect when I ordered this but the story between Lia and Bennett scorched the pages and I really want to know what happens next.
